omg omg omg book of the ler omg

I was reminded more and more of Maelenkleth as the game day progressed, both in terms of the complexity of the game of life, the organized vs chaotic theme, and Maelenkleth herself who died an ego-death/became a forgetty at the start of the novel but cast a very long shadow as the plot developed.

I have my dad's first edition paperback copies (along with a ton of other SF he collected and I added to). It's one of the reasons I've been somewhat resistant to eBooks in this genre. I literally have a wall of paperback pulp science fiction. On the other hand, one more read of Gameplayers of Zan and it will probably fall apart.

MS lynched in nightless.

If I hadn't seen town-Titus in the uncouth game use an early and later rescinded read of nacho's to support her AP vote, I'd find her claim that I was townreading DV very suspicious looking. I think she cherry-picks town players' reads regardless of alignment.

Given the number of times my name gets dropped per page right now, I really do wish I'd posted the painting of Maelenkleth's holographic memory before the thread was closed.

I hope our reads weren't too terrible, too.

the zar flip also makes our empire/singer read almost bankable. hopefully the town in the signs and void game figure that out.

it was painful to watch at times from my perspective.

when MS was going on about the perpetual mylo game and how nacho wasn't towning it up here the way he did in that game I was yelling at the screen and in our pt. I felt like he was incredibly obvtown.

Team Mafia was a lot of fun for me, though I was kinda discouraged during the last 3-4 days of Day 1. I've enjoyed following the other games even after Gestalt was dead in all our games. I think these games epitomize all that is great, indifferent and terrible about forum mafia, ramped up and on an adrenaline high. how many scum teams at MS at any given point are utterly boned because weak town players flake and strong players replace in? I've been on all three sides of that conundrum. how many towns tear themselves apart due to poor memory, botched claims, personality conflicts, and ragequits? I feel like all of those negative vibes, all the bad luck, all the good luck, etc., that go on in most games were in play here -- on crack.

The additional moving parts in this game made for some very interesting rip-currents and perturbations.

It might be interesting for participating players to do a straight up vote for the team they thought contributed most to their games' outcomes next time. Not necessarily as an input into the formula for picking a winner, but as separate and unofficial peer recognition.

I've been incredibly impressed by the level of play many folks brought to this contest.

Actually, it was meant to be pretty short duration given the number of players, due to the potential for mass mayhem during the minor nights. Also there were 2 lynches per day, even though the minor days extended the timeframe.

anyway, my vezok townread stood throughout the game. Really the only townreads that faded for me after day 1 ended were actiondan and shadoweh. Action Dan's reaction to being run up on day 1 gave me "town pr" vibes, but he was having very little positive impact on the game. And I had the same complaint about shadoweh as the game progressed. though her certainty that she'd conftowned herself did resonate as authentic.

Mastin, your apparent certainties (and arrogance about them) worried me. I trusted nacho's read of you, but from my experience, your play didn't feel right.

In post 550, mastin2 wrote:I get certainties. Depending on the certainties (TTH town, Bulb town, DV scum being the absolute top tier beyond all others I held), they can be absolutely accurate if I hold them absolutely (as discussed, Titus was decidedly
not
an absolute nor was singer even though they both shared categories with the above in town/scum, thus aren't absolute-holds), or not so if I hold them strongly yet am not revealing my second-guessing (see above*), but I get them regardless.

*The thought of DV being town never once, ever, entered my mind. Not even TTH/Bulb got that, though with Bulb once I read him I never thought of him as scum and with TTH I was quick to shoot that down permanently. Though I never showed it, the thought of
singer
being town, however,
did
. Admittedly I brushed it off, that was my misread to make, but the thought was there, as a, "What IF she's actually town?" thing. Similarly, my thought on Titus wasn't so much that she was ubertown, as much as it is, "God I so don't want her to be scum right now because dammit, I want her, need her to be town" if that makes sense. (She was my ally in the thread, after all, and basically the only one aside from Bulb I had.)

My early strong town reads were cheetory, tammy/oversoul, and vezok. when empire posted his reads list, that read went way townward but I wanted to see who kept pushing him. I was also dealing with a gestalt team who were less sure about him until he replaced out. The replace out was town as fuck, and I was wondering what planet you were on when you kept insisting it wasn't a town replace-out. Gamma also pushed himself into all-but-conftown on day 1.

I think I would have been willing to listen to you more on DV and bulba if we hadn't disagreed on so much else. And if I hadn't felt like you were trying to marginalize me from the get-go on the only game day where I could make an impact.
