Since when makes you less scummier to tell that you're not scum? If you tell you're a scum it makes you scummier, and if you tell you're innocent you're even scummier.

I'm not quite following the logic behind this one. Why would someone even tell that they are scum and why is that less scummy than stating your innocence. And if someone says he's scum that wont make him scummier but it makes him hmmm... a scum.

It depends on the situation where you state your innocence, if it makes you look scummier. If someone have good proof for innocence, it really doesn't make him look scummy. You cannot generalize that so, that every time I say I'm a townie, it makes me scummier.

This statement really looks like what ever I would say to proof my innocence, it would make me look more scummy in your eyes. Why are you trying to scare people not to defend them selves? Looking for easy lynch? Wanting people just to swallow your accusations without saying a word to safe them. Not liking this at all! Scummy logic from the start to the end!

I have a better place for my vote.

To be fair, I haven't really been lurking. This game has only been going for a week, during which time I have written a two page paper, a 1 page paper, an outline for a 9 page paper, gone to a Blues workshop in another state, seen Lupe Fiasco in concert, seen Soulja Boy in concert (he sucked, worst concert ever, but I got what I expected. It was pretty amusing to see him suck live), seen T-Pain in concert (best performance I've ever seen), completed a 6-page homework on Computer Architecture, studied for and took an exam, prepared for a lab project, and tried to fix my computer.

So I think my activity's been fine, thanks.

If there's some pre-determined way a scam is "supposed" to behave vs how a a townie is "supposed" to behave, wouldn't a clever scummy actually do the *opposite* of that?

No, not at all. There is no "pre-determined way" scum is supposed to behave. However, there are behaviors that benefit scum, and there are also individual scumtells. Each person has their own set of behaviors that are unique to them being scum. So you have to get inside their head and figure out what *they* would do if they were scum, how *they* would try to help their team.

Your vote was the third vote, whereas his was the second. It's a more opportunistic position than his, and the timing of

was a lot scummier, since SG couldn't have expected you to place a third vote after his vote. On the other hand, you *were* the third vote, so you knew it was coming.

Now, I'm withholding final judgement on NabNab for now, but he looks pretty protown, acting like he normally does. On top of that, we have enough suspects that he's not pinging my radar atm. Today is not the day I would want to lynch him.

We aren't at L-1. We're at L-2, and the scum aren't going to be so hasty that they would lynch right away on Day 1. That would expose them. So we can't clear any scumpairs yet, because we don't have enough data.

Alright, I'm finally back from holidays. I will try to catch up on all my games in the next day or two. No promises on a time frame for any particular game, but at least you know I'm back from V/LA (which, by the way, was posted in the V/LA thread, albeit a bit belated).

DeadlyMan: Needs to replace. Can't really analyze him until that happens.

GhostWriter: I modded a game he was in before (472, if you want to check yourself). His behavior seems a little different in this game, because he seems a bit more sure of himself when he makes his suspicions. Could be a newbie getting more comfortable with the game, or he could be more aggressive as scum. He hasn't said anything about myself, NabNab, Shadoglare, or DeadlyMan so far this game, though. He needs to focus on more people. Inconclusive.

Petunho: A quick skim over his posts leaves me with no obvious conclusion. He's active, he questions people, and he's cavalier about placing a third vote. He suspects GW, Quitex, and NabNab. Thinks Shado is innocent. Inconclusive for now.

Quitex: Seems to be an emotional player. I'm having trouble seeing how he concluded I was innocent after the discussions he had with me. From the way he reacted towards me earlier in the thread, I would have expected the opposite conclusion from him. Then, after saying I was very likely protown, he says that I'm about 50% likely to be scum (between me and DeadlyMan as one of the scum). Yet he still lists me and Petunho as next to last on his list of suspicion. I'd like Quitex to explain his analysis of me, so I can understand his thought process.

Shadoglare: Seemed to dispair early on that he could say nothing to defend himself. Petunho said that he has been very logical and has a lot of good contribution, but I'm not seeing it. He's here, and he's been relatively active, but I would definitely not put him near the top of the contribution list. Most of his posts are relatively short. He seems way too focused on my "I am scum" statement, which is pretty obviously a null tell, ie, my alignment cannot be determined either way from the statement, so it should be cast out from the evidence.

NabakovNabakov: As always, a very verbose and logical player. It's hard to read him. Even though I've played with him before, I nearly had the game cracked open by the time he replaced into the game, and I felt like I had a good read on him the whole game, so I didn't really pay a lot of attention to his posting style. As a result, I don't really remember enough to make a contrast with this game.

I'm going to attempt to construct a suspicion order based on people's posts. This is approximate, but should be close.

It's interesting that Shadoglare and Petunho both have each other as the most protown players. They also both suspect Quitex a lot. I think it's possible one of them is scum hanging onto a townie. I don't think scum would be this obvious about their connection, but they might be too inexperienced to avoid that.

If Petunho is scum: Quitex stands out as his most likely scumpartners, maybe DeadlyMan. These pairings don't seem that likely, so Petunho is less likely as scum.

If Shadoglare is scum: I could really see a Shadoglare/NabNab scumpair. Both of them have each other listed in the middle to bottom end of their suspicions, but they're not completely declaring each other as obv-townies. I could see Shadoglare/GhostWriter, too.

*shrug* If DeadlyMan doesn't get replaced in about a week, I'm just going to vote for him, since he's obviously responding to prods and not posting. That's the problem with allowing people to respond to prods in private. It gives them away if they're lurking on purpose.

No, it doesn't in itself, but we're working with very little evidence, and it did grab my interest. Unfortunately it doesn't say much one way or the other, but that's really kind of the case with everything we say.

No, you're referring to WIFOM arguments. This is not a WIFOM argument. The statement "I am scum" should have NO weight in determining someone's alignment. It is a true null tell. It does not make them more likely to be EITHER alignment, because neither a protown or scum player has a reason to make such a statement.
