Are we allowed to discuss our Project Manager choice privately via PM or QT? On that same token, are we allowed to make a QT for the tast of choosing a Project Manager?

  • What did you contribute during this task?
  • Are you satisfied with your team's final submission?
  • How do you think Tragedy perfomed as Project Manager?
  • Who performed the worst during this task?

1: I wrote two thirds of the essay as well as proofreading the essay. I also contributed ideas both for games we could make for the second assignment as well as helping with the final game we sent.
2: Yes, I am satisfied in the essay and I would like to play the game we made myself.
3: Tragedy was active, competent and hardworking as the PM, I would have no problems with her being our PM again.
4: Chevre, cjdrum and Sleepykrew. None of the three contributed in any way.

Original version wrote:
A game lives and dies based on its playerbase, which is why letting a lot of players engage in the game is the fourth fundamental. Having to wait in line for your turn can often lead people to lose their interest in a game, so maximizing the amount of people a Mish Mash game can hold allows the game to survive and thrive. Games like Ferris Wheel and What Were You Thinking have virtually no limit on the amount of players that can participate at once, while Optimize allows those waiting in line to effect the current game's outcome.

Looks like someone added that after it was written, most likely Tragedy.

Wait a minute, by the current rules a turn is a round (or at least that's the impression one may get), meaning that there will be only 3 rounds, and by the current rules it's almost impossible to kill anyone in that time period.

Of who's game?

Our game. Rounds and turns are not properly defined, so you may come to the conclusion that the game only lasts 3 rounds/turns, which is not enough for anything decisive to happen.

Surely a phenomenal game has to be played for it to be phenomenal? It's not all there is to it, of course, but a big part of a successful game is a successful play session.

I'm arguing that being active is part of a good game, you're saying that games that used to have good activity levels have since stalled out. Where do we disagree?

A good game shouldn't be stalling by your own definition. If being active (of which I can only assume you mean the players, and not the mod) is part of a good game then this shouldn't happen.

In this context I mean the game session when I say game. For example, a football fan may still consider certain football games boring. By the same definition even a good game will stop being good while it's stalled, hence why it's important to keep things active.

Cybele: While we're talking about disagreeing with the other side's essay, I'm going to disagree with your inclusion of innovation as a fundamental. Not every successful game needs to be a new idea, Ferris Wheel is hardly new these days yet there's a few seperate games of that on the first page alone. There's also existing games like Yahtzee and Word Morph.

Well Ferris Wheel's Innovation was from the very first game that was made way back a long time ago. Just because it's not innovative now doesn't mean it wasn't innovative before. And then Quilford came up with an idea of "Lovers" with it, to make it Innovative again.

Sure, it was innovative before, but it's not innovative now. Less innovative doesn't mean worse in my opinion, however. Some of the best games have lasting appeal even after they've stopped being fresh.

  • How do you think you performed as Project Manager?
  • Who worked on Assignment #3 for this task? Why select rainbow font for the title?
  • Who worked on Assignment #4 for this task? Who selected the font for the image?
  • Are you satisfied with your final submission?
  • Give me a summary of each player's work on this task and how you would rank them.

1: I'm satisfied with my job, I did my best to consider the ideas suggested and tried to bring about an end result that would satisfy everyone involved.
2: That would be Sleepy and I, along with CSL giving frequent criticism. The rainbow font represents the colorful people represented in the ferris wheel.
3: Tragedy did all of the work on the image. I took a shot at resizing it at one point, but I'm just no good at image editing.
4: I am, we did what we could with the time given to us and the skills at our disposal.
5: Tragedy: Made the image. It may not be as polished and overproduced as the Photoshop snobs over in team Eucleia wanted it to be, but she did what she could and it turned out just fine.
SleepyKrew: Co-worker on assignment 3. He came up with the basic layout of the text, such as the rainbow title and the colors seperating the rules into specific easily identifiable parts. He also came up with the slogan in the banner. He did his job well.
CSL: The critic, CSL gave suggestions, opinions and criticism about everything, helping us improve our assignments. Being a critic is an underrated job, but she helped us out a lot.
Leonshade: I was a co-worker on assignment 3. I made draft after draft of the assignment, trying to find a color balance everyone would agree on. I tried to achieve an end-result everyone working on the project could agree with, and I think I largely succeeded.
kiwieagle: Posted one helpful piece of information in the QT. Could've done a lot more.
Chevre: Same as kiwieagle, in addition to promising to take a shot at both assignments. Failed to do anything after that. Could've done a lot more.
Twistedspoon: Failed to post once in the QT after the task started. Could've done something at the very least.

Blackberry wrote:
Thoughts, anyone?

The sign is fancy, even if it lacks the quality of being a banner like the assignment asked for. Despite the fact that Team Eucleia should be disqualified from assignment 4, their assignment is fine. Don't much care for the song lyrics, they're at best superficially related to the game concept. The text itself is professional enough.

After much contemplation uninterrupted by cover-ups, I've decided to make
Chevre
and
Twistedspoon
my War Room picks. Both Chevre and Twistedspoon failed to contribute to the assignment in any meaningful way. Chevre posted once to say that she would take a shot at both assignments (and posted nothing after that), while Spoon failed to post anything at all (and he was no on V/LA either). kiwieagle was largely the same as Chevre, but kiwi has since appeared in this thread and in the QT and has at least given an explanation for his absence, giving me hope that he will contribute in future tasks.

  • Did you not see the lack of aesthetic appeal in combining the rainbow title with your banner?
  • Why do you think your team lost the Task? Where did your team go wrong?
  • Do you think you deserve to stay in this game? What can you do to prove this?
  • Who should I fire and why?

1: The banner was the last thing added to the assignment. Perhaps the reason for that is that I considered the two assignments different, and I initially didn't consider putting the banner in assignment 3. The text and the banner were done seperately by seperate people, and I got the suggestion to add the banner into the text late into the day. I did so and asked for everyone's opinions. No one commented on the clash and at that point I was still thinking of the two assignments as seperate, so eventually we ended up with a product that hurt itself. Now that the results are out, the clash seems quite obvious, but I was not thinking about that at the time.
2: The lack of contribution from three seperate players was a big factor, I think we were understaffed. Tragedy was also the only one with the skills necessary to make the banner, so she had to work on that alone. Since the text team and the banner team were seperate, the two both did their seperate things and I carelessly combined the two into a final product as explained above, resulting in the clash everyone seems to hate.
3: Yes, I do. My teammates can vouch for my activity and workrate, both qualities severely lacking from both Spoon and Chevre in this competition. I also did my best to incorporate everyone's ideas into the submission and attempted to find a product that pleased everyone, as the multiple drafts I spammed into the inboxes of my teammates show. In the future I will keep showing these qualities and I will do my best and more to produce final products you will appreciate.
4: Both Chevre and Spoon would be valid picks, but if forced to choose I would pick Chevre. Spoon contributed to Task 1, while Chevre has been inactive throughout the competition. Tragedy chose to give her another chance last time due to Chevre's experience, but I'm not willing to give Chevre a third chance. Chevre has repeatedly shown that she does not care about this competition enough to contribute to it.

More proof that I should stay, I'm getting compared to that saint Harvey Dent.

From the QT, from the people who actually worked on the thing.
