I would have tried to poach Flameaxe years ago if I'd known his dark secret.

^this totally happens every game. There's always some mystical rule about chatting casually and then something about the game stuff coming in "naturally". Its idiotic, but probably set in stone with the mentality of players

And the longer the trend of bigger games continues, it will never be newbie friendly. Its tough to read too much into 1-2 newbies breaking the mold, and discredits that the atmosphere doesn't welcome new players kindly. This was (at least appeared to be) advertised as giving those newbies a better atmosphere to build into the game, and the boot list shows it failed on that front. Nothing about the game felt any different in the form of newbie welcoming to me. (Idol searches, really?)

The fact that we are here discussing "how the meta works" is a problem in itself. Were stuck in a situation where fitting the meta gets you far, and there isn't enough influx of new players coming in who could change it. Its all beautifully stagnated.

Putting in a requirement to spectate first gives you a general idea what to do, but when you're watching the top level players succeed in one way, you'll drift to that when playing and all of a sudden we have a nice boring addition to the player base.

We didn't send the flue gas into the reactor with enough excess air to perform the reaction to completion. Additionally, we modeled our reactor assuming an ideal gas instead of modeling it using a Peng-Robinson model. The difference in residual pressures between the two models created vastly out of proportion reactor kinetics and everything just sort of fizzled.

Food wrote:BPC [The spectator played by N, not the mod.] gave me an idea: Survivor: Mish Mash Survivor. Anon Survivor where the player options are usernames of anyone who's ever played a Survivor before. Playing in character is recommended. Picking yourself is allowed, but not as your first option, and other people taking it has preference.

Either that or character options are characters from Anon games. If a newbie asks for the mods to pick, give them Chancey and watch what happens when they say it's their first game.
Like, I wouldn't be able to design it, because I'm bad at being creative, and it would also be even less newbie friendly, so it's probably not actually a good idea, but as long as people don't use it as an excuse to be openly hostile (which is a very extreme statement in itself), it could be fairly interesting.

Just can't have anyone be Snakes, they'll lose round 1 out of principal, or win out of principal :P

That looks like a horrible idea, what kind of loser would mod that with you?

Me and Drench talked about a Survivor game where every time you vote for the person who is voted out at that Tribal Council, the value of your vote is cut in half. So the longer a majority alliance exists, the less power any of its members actually have, unless they just keep splitting the vote, which makes things even more likely to be messed up!

Next marathon day, lets run this to see how well it tabulates.
