Nominate Feysal for Most Outstanding New Player

I had the most experience with him in Percy's Stars Aligned III. He's a very strong strategist and a thorough thinker when it comes to the game of mafia. Whereas most new players would have been easily overwhelmed in that setup, Feysal stepped forward and was one of the leaders of the scum team. I have also seen him a couple of times as town and I found him to be equally thoughtful.

Eh I disagree with there not needing to be negative noms. The judges would definitely be able to disagree, which is fine, but you're also creating more work for them by nomming undeserving things. (royal you) Best to separate the chaff from the wheat if at all possible before it goes to the mill, you know.

I agree with Baltar. Having actually judged scummies before, I had to deal with a barrel of work (that resulted in me taking a six month break from MS). Reading the nominations helps focus the judge on what to look for. The "negative nomination" is a fine line to walk, of course. Once it starts getting nasty, the point of the scummies is defeated. But as a devil's advocate kind of thing, I found people disagreeing with a nomination to be helpful as a judge.

Pfft. Judging's easy. I did it two years in a row and pretty much completed every award in less than a day.

In the case of the game/circumstance, the Vengeful took the right shot. It was just unfortunate that it hit town.

No, and also that's a terrible nomination. Pretty much every town member in that game played awful, so I think it's pretty dumb to nominate for a best scum performance in that case.

It has nothing to do with butthurt. I played badly there. No big. That being said, town playing bad doesn't mean scum actually played well. But by all means people should continue to circle jerk in the nominations thread. I'm sure the judges of this year's scummies will appreciate it when they have to read the game and then insta-deny it cause it's a poor nomination.

It was all the town eating themselves alive; that's my issue. I can point to every single player in that game and name at least one huge gaff they made that allowed the scum to cruise control. Well, maybe not Camn I guess but she died N1. In your own nomination you talk about town sucking, so what does that prove? And Fate-scum bussing a partner isn't exactly a brilliant or original plan since he does it in pretty much every single game he's scum in.

You show me what the scum team did right there that wasn't already happening due to townfail and I'll agree with you. As someone who was in the game and experienced it firsthand, I'd say you pretty much cannot. I have no problem saying we had our assess handed to us, but it was hardly spectacular scum play to show up and go 'yeah yeah' while the entire town was herping and derping. What kind of skill does that actually take?

Town played so badly in AMG due to the brilliant play from scum, unlike in WF mafia where town just went DERP WE WANT SCUM TO WIN.

Considering I was watching the game from a scum perspective, the things they were setting up were just beautiful to watch.

clearly we disagree. I don't think objectively you'd nom such a game for a scummy, but the judges can read it and use their best judgement I'm sure.

While I'm talking about revamping the scummies, I'd suggest moving Don Corleone and Paragon of Mafia Hunters to the single-game categories. This tends to be how they're nominated and decided anyway... on the basis of single game performances. It's also allows a player to get nominated for more than one game in the same category. Right now, when a player has a second good game, ostensibly that's sort of entered into the equation of the body of work award, but in reality it gets totally overlooked unless the scummy judges actually played in that game.

Well, that seems like a problem from the judges more than a systematic problem. It's not that much work to glance at two or three other games to see if the person is consistently playing well, and imo that should be a factor when determining who wins those really headline awards.

Whatever faux pas you perceive aside, she really does deserve it and works way harder on this site than 99% of the people here. I highly doubt this is going to start a flood of self-noms, and even if it did this has clearly shown there is a flood of rabble rousers ready to shoot it down at the first sight! No need to worry.

Meanwhile, we all know it's deserving. So, let's accept the nomination/Nths and move on.
