Zoraster just explained the reason Best Role Claim was dropped. Funniest Role Claim is a 'meh' award, that seems best covered by Funniest Player. Losing Cause was dropped ages ago because it's a bad award. Rising Star was added because the Join Date issue made 'Best Newbie' deeply flawed, and it sort of covers Most Improved (plus a general lack of interest in Most Improved) meant they could be combined.

I don't understand how it's frustrating, really.

Well obviously if there's a strong enough backlash it would be taken into consideration, but trying to 'involve the site' in everything would mean nothing gets done.

A thread in November is a very good idea - part of the reason it wasn't done was because the SSC had like 2 active members then. That's changed now, at least. Obviously if you think there's an award that should be added/a part we're missing out on that can be brought up too. We had talk of a scummies announcement/suggestion thread or something, too.

The thing is if 50% of the people want it and 50% don't what do we do? Should we have a threshold for how many people want an award before it should be considered/added?

Generally a good replacement and is willing to throw himself into fairly large games if neccessary (See: Crushing Independent Thought).

Citing Zachrulez Large Normal Large Normal and This atrocious setup as recent games where he replaced in and had very good reads, too. In Zach's game I'm fairly sure it would have been a scum win if not for CES.

Also note to self: Nominate Tammy for Rising Star when she has >1 completed game.

Regfan's reads were kind of average in that game. He may deserve the nom on the whole - he's a strong town player but I don't think that game shows off his strengths to the fullest. He was wrong on BB/Cooldog off the top of my head.

Hey, look links. Throw in scummies winvitational which was this year and which he also had good reads in and I think he's got a pretty impressive body of work as town thus far, this year. Accuracy is usually good and true sheer willpower he generally gets his man lynched. Yarr? Edit: he was also one of the better townies in AFFC Mafia.

Where he had good reads in his game [3 scum in his pool of 5 day 1] and had good reads in the other games too. We don't do thirds anymore so it's not needed but moral support and all that.

Well good he helped your reads, I still think getting lynched for a silly self voting gambit isn't indiciative of super strong town play. He had very good reads, still don't think he played an amazing game.

Yeah I think once you pass a certain competency self votes won't work unless you look really really pissed off, and even then maybe not.

Well, sort of. I just think you have to be particularly competent for a self vote to not be effective? I'm not saying Matt is just at that line or anything, I've only really seen 2/3 of his games just that he's at least above it to the point a self vote won't work. (Well also, I suppose depends on the playerlist but etc)

Depends on if it's public, if it's a public alt used to supplement a BOW award then it can go on the main. Hydra goes to Hydra and main's in the mod awards, at least. See: Andrius and Plum as Bilbo Baggins.

Thanks for the nomination Dunhamganger but I am indeed an alt and have only replaced into two games ever with it and given it's a BoW award I'm barely eligible.

2 games would be fine if they were oustanding, I guess, but yeah the more the better for this type of thing. Pity you're bad, eh?

Rising Star isn''t limited by year , Red. Newbie was, which is why it was gotten rid of.

Memorable Moment might work, too. You could try both? Always best to err on the side of caution if unsure of a category, imo. Doesn't actually create extra reading for then judging, anyway.

My point was more general, in fairness. Claiming full BP townie is pretty much a bad idea as scum in most games, it was fine given the weird set-up + moderator though which I assume is knowing your mod meta. I don't remember the specific circumstances of that game other than lolnofakeclaim and FLAVOUR SAYING MUMMY IS SK.

It's not perfect, but I don't think it lends itself quite as much to "...in bed!" as the current one.
