Playing to win and playing to have fun are not mutually exclusive events.

I play a lot of board games with my friends, and I'm pretty competitive with them. I play to win.

However, that isn't free reign to be an ass to them. It is fully possible to behave as though the people you are playing with are human beings with feelings and still play to win.

I'm really not sure why this is so hard. Its not a function of "emotional stock" - its a function of having some respect.

The real issue (and mind you I haven't blacklisted) is #3.

That's not the case. It reeks of coming in looking for praise and then when he didn't get it saying "well, you guys just don't play to win"

And then the misogyny bit too.

But wouldn't excessive personal attacks violate the rules?

And if it didn't, why would there be a modkill?

I think my favorite part of this thread is how much it actually mirrors a mafia game.

Appeal to Authority? Check.
Really Bad Fakeclaim? Check.

All that really seems to be missing is the hammer vote.

And I have a soft spot for a Lawyer/Psychiatrist named SIR CYANIDE as well. But, yea. We're just waiting for the flip.

Wait a second.

I thought part of the  was the fact that people weren't "playing to win" in the sense of using everything within their power
within the rules
to win the game.

So, if the rules state that being replaced forfeits the win and yet, somehow, you "still won" wouldn't that mean you weren't "playing to win the game" but instead "playing to fufill an arbitrary objective?"

Which oddly enough parallels the "arbitrary objective" everyone has that you've taken umbrage to of having a fun game?

If you are replaced, you've null'd that game. There is no win or loss. Consider it a 'punishment' for breaking the rules if you will.

Part of the other side is both of you should have had the same treatment. You both should have either been warned, replaced, or modkilled. Not unilaterally.

So, the net result should have been null on top of in two of the three scenarios ending with your "play to win" attitude not playing to win (personally at least).

I mean, if Cyanide wants to live in a fantasy world where he's got a good career, is happy with his life, and won a mafia game through 'legitimate' tactics, who are we to take away his ignorant bliss?
People with that perfect combination of bored at work and just irritated enough to post about it?

And people wonder why I am jokingly-misogynistic? This 'logic' is only found in women.
Hint: Your misogyny is not "jokingly" because that isn't even pretend funny.
