Very early, confident, and bold claim on Shirou’s allignment. Shirou being town here suggests to me it could be pocketing attempt. Scum like to identify strong town early and townread them so they get in good relations with potential trouble later on, even if the town player in question hasn’t looked town at all yet because it’s too early in the game to tell.
I think i can be so bold to say that i’m the best player at reading Shirou here and i did not trust them by post 38 which is when you posted this.

I don't think that's the best way to play scum so I don't play that way. If I'm playing scum I try to guess whether I would be townreading someone and emulate it.
Your last sentence contradicts itself, because if you think other players understand shirou less that you should have many opportunities to watch him snow people. I’m not focused on being right. In fact, i’ve come to my conclusion from trying to see the game from your perspective and whether that perspective is likely to be of town alignment. I’m saying that you are approaching the beginning of day 1 from a scum mindset rather than an town mindset.
Early townread on Shirou by you is questionable in both intent behind it and the logic made in approaching such an conclusion. The discrepency in your logic here can be explained by scum mindset of starting day 1 with survival in mind rather than genuinely trusting Shirou to be of town alignment due to genuinely reading the player to be so. Hence my suspicion.

This is really random I know but...I just had an idea about a Russian Roulette setup randomly and wanted feedback:

Basically a normal 13p (3:10) mountainous setup (or maybe White Flag and town only needs to kill 2 scum) except there's, well, a "Russian Roulette" mechanic:

It takes "[X + 1]" (maybe "X + 2"? haven't thought too much about balance yet) to "fire the gun". X is the number of scum alive in the game. The same person cannot be shot twice

consecutively

, so at least they need to take turns.

A person can also

voluntarily

offer themselves to be "fired at", at anytime, and it ends the gun votes until the gun is fired by the moderator.

There's two versions in my mind, one where mafia knows on which "chamber" the bullet is and are therefore "informed" (which theoretically should make it easier to hunt them?) and one where they are as clueless as town about when the gun will actually kill.

Does that sound mildly interesting for a "simple setup" that perhaps I could request for an exception to run from S_S in the Open Queue (I don't have moderation experience yet) or is it just me?

It is probably not the way you'd prefer me to engage with you but it's among the ways that can have a somewhat more readable response. Certainly more readable than only interacting with other players, which is a tough sell as the next best alternative

This is obviously new info and not the original reasons but I think the fact he's not doubting my alignment if town for reading him incorrectly for the first time ever in his PoV, or seemingly more curious about the reasons why I have this read on him rather than having a huge issue with me scum reading him itself, should tell you near half of the picture.

You know what that’s enough to sell me, a now-banned player had pulled the card you did on Norwee on me in 2 games and we were T/S in one and S/T in another, my reaction as scum was essentially to try and defer the suspicion rather than combat the player because I knew that approach would end me faster. The fun part is Norwee was in that game too for a time.

So, I guess there's kind of two paradigms about how to interact with alignment claims in mafia, "no one ever claims their alignment because the mechanics of mafia render it absurd" and "everyone claims their alignment repeatedly". Gamma either always prefers the former independent of alignment or if she goes back and forth imo she's slightly more likely mafia for adopting the former this game.

Universally I think it is easier for scum to thrive in paradigm one. Paradigm one has way less cognitive load. Rephrasings of town claims can occasionally be difficult to be natural, yes it's not one of the hardest things we ever force scum to fake but equity is equity. And like players being allowed by paradigm to focus on arguments being wrong rather than focusing on how an argument will eliminate a towny with their own subjective deductions; like townclaiming underlying every feud; it removed a dimension for getting a bit of sift against scum.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're more of a universal townclaimer, but I think taking a townclaim style exposes a little bit of surface area and when that surface area is clean you're a little bit townier.

Nutcracker game has this weird metastrategy you did that puts scum in a different position from town, that's a pretty separate thing, it necessarily required statements of your own alignment though.

In pokemon I never comment about how many drapions I have even though it could be viewed as WIFOM, I don't make statements like "we both know I might like about this but I'm running Drapion". Just because posturing and phrasing can always reveal a little information about WIFOM anytime you comment on WIFOM. I like joking about having powerful murder cards though so I always use complete jokes like "I have blue eyes white dragon" of course

My issue conceptually with a D1 scum bus would be that it can’t be a glory bus because of the setup, the other living partner also has to be positioned well.

My mistake on Dance Game/MariaR was to fake a bit too much the confidence on it never being possibly town and that damaged my standing in the game and also messed up with my head.

I was considering Ydrasse one of the most likely slots to be scum if MariaR flipped town before I felt guilty about the flip and brought up her AtE. I also ended up pocketed by Meuh because at some point it felt like she was the unique player on my side/not mocking me post-MariaR flip and I just stopped caring about sorting her objectively until the last day.

So I'm not doing this here, but I would be

I think Ari may be town if Lucian isn't her partner because I'm not sure she would want to scum read Lucian if she's scum and Lucian is town. (In fact, even if they are partners perhaps)

like, Lucian said it annoyed her but Ari didn't change the read. It's likely because it was genuine. There's a chance that it wasn't genuine at all and it's one of the reasons she wasn't pushing Lucian, but I think the odds are that Ari simply genuinely suspected Lucian, and you can't change a read due to it simply troubling someone else that you don't know the alignment of.

Ari likes Lucian a lot as you can see, I think if it annoyed town!Lucian for scum!Ari to suspect him, chances are that she would perhaps tone down/stop it even if it sounded "scummy", I think Ari simply wants to have fun rather than trying too hard to win.

I believe this to be one of the best arguments for Ari being town here. There's some more game related content as well and behavior in general but I'm trying to pick the most convincing argument and I think this is it.
