I agree with you on some very broad principles, that it benefits scum to lay low more than it benefits town. However I think the rest of your thinking is severely, severely flawed.

Firstly, you are assuming that the scum in this game are good players. This may be true. It's not a safe assumption, though. The last minigame I played we had some impossibly scummy newbie spend days under debate because his actions were so textbook scum. He was scum. Scum make mistakes too.

And even then, if scum don't make mistakes, it's a huge jump to assume they are excellent puppetmasters who can avoid votes all game. Sure, they're better informed and have some buds who are on-side, but it takes mad skills to avoid focus all game.

Thirdly, not getting voted is not a scum-tell even though it benefits scum more directly to not be lynched (ie, town can afford more casualties by game design, scum need to stay not lynched). A good player avoids suspicion whatever his alignment because (Jester roles notwithstanding) it

always

benefits your win condition not to get lynched. A good scum won't get lynched. Neither will a good townie or SK. If someone isn't getting votes, they could be any of those things. Or...

Finally - it's Day 1. We can only cope with so many people getting talked about in detail at a time - chances are that the less scummy half of the town will get through D1 without too much bother. Yos2 and Singing Librarian aren't getting much focus atm, for example - do I think they should? No. Because there are better people to look at and focus needs precisely that - focus. The fact some people have no votes is indicative of little more than the fact other people have been caught in the spotlight more.

Well, scum do TRY to attract less attention to themselves, sure, but that itself is a scumtell. People who act and look "scummy" really do tend to be more likely scum then not; if not, then you need to re-consider your own personal scumtells. Despite the fact that there's a number of scum votes confusing the issue, towns still do tend to lynch better then random most of the time, because you really can tell at least sometims who is scum based on how they act.

Well, that's true, but the think you're missing here is that part of the reason both Near and your predecessor got votes was because people think that it LOOKS like they are trying to "lay low" by not saying much, and like you just said, that's often how scum are likely to act.

Near is seeming much less scummy to me (yes Watch me be totally wrong lol) but this game is incredibly slow, and we need a majority decision, which atm would be Near. Even if I do suspect Mac the most.

This is ridiculous. 4 days from deadline and we have the votes split 4 ways, 3/3/3/2. We don't want to lynch blind. We don't want to miss a lynch. Ergo we need to jump on someone

and get a claim. This game is turning into another Lost Boys as far as lynch-shyness goes.

Obviously my first choice is Near. He's dragged this day out and really should've been forced to claim far earlier than now. My second choice is Guardian, though I think he's a bad lynch right now. My third choice is DBE, who I agree seems more newbie than scummy. My last choice is Macavenger, who has set off no scum alarms at all and has newbie, maybe-scum and scum on his bandwagon.

Why shouldn't I be happy with either? Both have exhibited Suspicious behavior, and Coron's timing is enough to cause dissent and split the vote, and IMO his intent was to get me lynched to save both his and his scumbuddy's neck.

Being that I am new, I hadn't realize until he claimed that there was a tracker role. I knew of watcher, and assumed it was fairly common as It was always in my games when I played in the past.

That being said, I <obviously naively> assumed it was a lie, when combined with his timing. Therefor I heavily regret the badwagoning on him. If we do have a cop it would be helpful to have a claim, and if Mac and Guardian are mason's That also would help as a claim, or else we have one refusing to vote the other no matter what.. which is definitely suspect.

I was testing a theory, No one else targeted him, which means, either he is scum (no real evidence so far) or he isn't which could mean a lot of things.

I am inclined to believe we have either one or both Cop/Doc and I am doubtful Guardian is either of those things.

Right now after rereading and reviewing everything I am having my suspicons on Guardian reaffirmed. I was n00bsh to jump on the bandwagon so quickly (there was some lingering OMGUS attitude towards Coron for his 'crusade' if you will, against me. Because I knew I was a watcher but I wasn't so sure he was actually a tracker.) However a Near lynch wasn't sitting quite right with me at the time, so I went with it.

All that to say Guardian's push for a Coron lynch really seemed out of no where, and his 'Trust Me' well I am afraid I don't have as much trust for him anymore.

I find this sudden Mac thing very weird, and its feeling like the coron thing all over again on Guardians part, we have a lynch pretty much and he starts a chain reaction if you will to get someone else lynched... You scumdar has a major glitch there. I am pretty sure Albie is town (misguided as he is) as I was pretty sold on Near's vanilla claim.

Right now I am still leary of Guardian, but I will watch him tonight and see what happens. If he is cop as he says, I probably will not get results as the scum will avoid him, unless I am role blocked.

Yea I am a bad player, and Yeah that whole voting for dasq thing was incredibly dumb. I can take responsibility for my actions but I couldn't begin to see why the town would lynch another claimed PR after we all thought coron was scummy.

The coron lynch was my first lynch ever, this was my first game ever, I don't assume to think I can outsmart you guys, I DO however hope that <as you did in your previous post> realize that another PR lynch is bad.

I will watch guardian tonight, if he dies <and I don't report on who killed him from my results> Then you can lynch me, heck I will even vote for myself. That is if I am not lynched today.

Albie - I find him and Neat to be puzzling, Near jumping off the coron wagon at last minute, voting for himself and encouraging me to do the same confused me, but I was completely confused N1. I am doubtful he Is scum but not Convinced he isnt.

Dasquian - If he is scum he is hella good one, Looking back I don't see anything that really stands out to me, but you guys seem to, which makes me doubt my scum reading abilities.

Guardian - I am pretty much at a 50/50 with him. He claims Cop which I refuse to lynch until I get a chance to watch him , or we get proof of his claim. OTH he has been acting anti-town, vote hopping to the biggest bandwagons, was the pack leader on the Coron lynch, Trid to lynch me, then when he Said " Dont Lynch Me Im the Cop <maybe sane maybe not" which isnt exactly a comforting thought. He is definately on my Scumdar.

Yosarian -- not sure about him, not too suspicious really need to read more

Joudas - ditto not enough regular activity to give me any solid inclinations

SL - Lurking is suspect always, and not adding naything really valuable to the hunt or cases. minor FoS.

Mac - I don't think he is scum tbh, he plays in a seemingly very pro town way, and has considered all his votes well enough for me.

Pyro - on re read his actions are very weird,

On my rhetoric, I was speculating about how likley it is that our claimed power roles are lying.

This intrigues me, Coron wasn't lying, and he paid the price of death to be proved innocent, It seems Pyro is very eager to lynch the lying power roles. (or to get rid of the power roles all together.)

He is high on my scumdar & he has been lurking frequently with the answer of work.

MBF -- not as high as Pyro now that I've read back, but still a suspect for me. I find you to be very hostile when voted for, and you didn't do the best job refuting Yos' case against you. I'm 60/40 here.

After a thorough eval and thinking it over, I think Pyro's adamant decision that the PR are lying (which obv. I know I am not) makes me the most suspicious.

I have little to say about this game...

I hate ABR's playstyle; I used to think it was great, but then realized he just randomly selects players and decides to get them lynched, and pretends like he has really good reasons for doing so. Townies would have to have elaphantitis sized balls to "stand up" to his lies about how sure he is and how he has reasons to be really sure about who is scum. He abuses positions where he is confirmed as likely town and ruins games based on his whims of who scum are, ignoring other's input.

I shudder that I am guilty of similar re: Coron; I give you my sincerest apologies.

Yeah, you did a great job for a first game DBE - my biggest advice for the future would not to try to placate other players by voting how you think they want you to - only vote for who you think is most likely scum. You did a great job staying active and managed to persuade me you were most likely town, though, so great job
