both. also, this is why you are scum. we went over the benefits of unexplained votes in that game.

you are still asking the same questions. don't pretend to have forgotten. you're doing the same routine you did that game. scum routine.
You have switched votes 3 times in 3 pages
not true. i voted you, then horror, then you. i only switched twice, and even then i didn't vote for a new person every time.

Mitsuru Kirijo wrote:Nocase. You seem to be all over the place, voting indiscriminately. Isn't the point of the RVS that you give some stupid reason for your vote, like avatar, name etc? But you aren't even giving a reason, which fails at generating discussion.
voting three times between two players is not indiscriminate. but yes, i am known for bouncing rapidly between votes.

the point of rvs is to generate discussion, which, interestingly albeit not surprisingly, is exactly what my lack of "a reason, which fails at generating discussion," according to you, has generated.

then you've fallen neatly into my trap.

mitsu, my votes aren't baseless. i often play my cards close to my chest for the sake of maximizing the reactions i get, keeping scum in the dark with respect to my goals and thought processes, and getting a generally unconventional perspective on things. having said that, i make a conscious effort to follow my intuitions when i scum-hunt, so obviously i can't promise logical discourse and stuff. that's what my original vote for netopalis was. my vote for horrordude came in response to his random vote for parama: he passed it off as humorous, but it still smells funny and i'm not entirely sure there wasn't more too it. neto grabbed my attention again and regardless i knew my curiosity about horrordude was too speculative to be reliable, so i switched back to neto. more later.

my point is twofold. first, neto is doing something that i know he has done as scum. second, i have a gut scum read on neto based on what little we've seen here.

there's no excuse involve in not giving an (immediate) explanation for a vote. it maximizes reactions and keeps scum on their toes. a great number—if not the majority—of mafiascum veterans recognize it as legitimate. you are in the wrong here.

i'm sort of baffled at why people are attacking parama. nexus, if parama is scum then his objective to appear pro-town and thereby survive until endgame. knowing this, tell me what he has to gain by being obnoxious. what's the scum tell?

slowsilver, that's just not true. at all. whatsoever. a lot of us (e.g., myself) love playing vanilla townies for the minimalist challenge of scum hunting and therefore are very active at the start of the game. i seek reactions to figure out for myself who i think is town and who i think is scum. not all of us rely on investigative roles to do the work for us, even early on.
nathanael wrote:10.)nocase: I do not see his playstyle as inherently scummy. I find it reasonable to not always disclose all reasons for a vote. But I think those reasons should exist and I think he should be willing to reveal them sooner or later. nocase, probably you should write those reasons down, however weak they are. I think I want you to proof they exist when you think secrecy is no longer appropriate. In that moment I also want you to explain why in this particular case it was better to keep those reasons secret.
I will decide on my evaluation of nocase as soon as I get to see what cards he is actually holding.
i've already laid out my "cards" for both neto and horror. there wasn't much to it so there was no sense in holding out any further.

re: kana's last post. not fair to criticize neto for trying to protect parama from a mod kill. it was honorable of him regardless of his alignment. the more interesting bit is where neto calls parama a good town player. not sure if that's a slip. can't tell either way, but it made me raise an eyebrow. and if you have been paying any attention to neto you'd see him describe his policy of requesting reasons for votes on at least two separate occasions. it's definitely not buddying.

i just lost my post, so i'll be brief.

re: nexus. iso. 11 was facetious. regarding iso. 13, i was simply wondering what sparked his gut scum read on me; i wasn't asking for logical justification like he was. regarding iso. 14, as a general rule scum have no reason to act the way parama acted—it's a null tell, though, not a town tell, as usually it's more a matter of personality than a matter of alignment.

re: slowsilver. that is patent bullshit. his post included plenty of analysis. he included a number of decent reads.

zdenek wrote:his recent unvote is definite backtracking
i lost both my confidence in my views on nexus and my interest in him as a point of discussion. i wanted to reassess some players (neto and misty in particular, though i'm also intrigued by horror, bv, and silver) before throwing out my vote again.
he unvoted one person who he's been suspicious of
while agreeing with another
emphasis mine. lemme walk through this to make sure we're on the same page. i suspect neto. neto points out something scummy about misty. i happen to agree with neto's point about misty; that is to say that, stepping back and looking at it objectively, i find it a valid point regardless of my (waxing and waning, currently waning) scum read on neto. so . . . um, how again is this suspect of me?
nathanael wrote:do you think Neto is bussing?
my original thoughts on this were that there's too little information for this to be worth serious consideration. in general, i find that day one lends itself toward hunting scum on a more-or-less individual basis. when you have zero information beyond your own role pm to go on, attempting to sniff out things like busing, distancing, and so on often, if not usually, equates with chasing shadows. having said that, the reasoning neto used for his misty vote is absolutely the type you might see in a scum-on-scum attack:
netopalis wrote:Mitsuru:
No real content.
Attacks Nat after he's proven to be easily excited and a probable easy lynch target.
Seems content to just comment rather than to analyze.
Given his earlier posts, this is a
disturbing trend
that makes me think that he really
doesn't have anything to say
since he
can't attack the real scum.
emphasis mine. this is a lurker case—neto is essentially calling out misty for active-lurking (posting without genuinely scum-hunting) and bandwagoning. this stuff is characteristic of scum coaching scum. (i'm not saying with even the slightest degree of certainty that this is the case; i only maintain that it is not by any means out of the question.) in other news, the phrase i highlighted in red rubs me really wrong. it looks to me like rhetorical mudslinging, which as far as i know is not netopalis's
modus operandi
. seems dishonest. on the other hand, i might just be misinterpreting the style of the sentence.
netopalis wrote:Kanashimi:
Largely following the crowd with some seriously weak defenses so that he can later point to them as evidence of the fact that he's not just following along.
Very, very scummy
to me.
emphasis mine. neto demonstrates some conviction here that he doesn't seem to show in his misty analysis, despite voting for misty, possibly because neto-scum doesn't want to commit to busing misty-scum over the long term if kana-town remains available. note especially that here neto bangs out the dreaded s word, accompanied by magnificent intensifying adverbs, whereas misty was guilty only of "a disturbing trend." but again, this might be an instance of busy neto shitting out a simple post as quickly as he could and not-busy nocase overanalyzing it.

one more thing before i shut up: misty goes for an "easy lynch target" (akin or equal to bandwagoning) and posts iioa instead of really trying to scum-hunt. kana "follow
the crowd" while setting up "evidence of the fact that he's not just following along." they are both guilty of a very similar or even identical transgression, but kana takes it one step further by gassing up an escape pod—and neto deduces this without a so much as a hint of uncertainty. why then does misty get the vote? isn't kana's play intrinsically and dramatically scummier?

parama, we don't have enough time to fire up a new wagon, whereas my vote makes four on slowsilver. it's not an ideal lynch, but in my eyes slowsilver is one of the shiftier players here (looks very opportunistic in places), so we could do a lot worse. i don't have much of a read on him but it won't surprise me terribly if he flips scum, and his play style is the type that will make me paranoid down the road.

also, i know you think iso. 19 ("richard is not scum, just stupid and his stupidity is implicating me") is a town tell, and i'm inclined to agree that scum are less likely to forsake easy targets by dropping dumb town reads, but i've reread it a couple of times and i'm extremely skeptical of the strong conviction of the statement. i find it unlikely that, as a townie, a player like slowsilver would come to that conclusion so quickly, and [other reason for suspicion censored due vested interest in keeping a (slight) scum tell i'm toying with close to my chest]. also, the "richard looks like dumb town" sentiment was floating around before slowsilver's post, so it's possible his statement was unoriginal.

What, me making a valid point?

I can't wait.
no, no, no. your point is currently valid, but if nathanael and slowsilver both flip town then, depending on your
modus operandi
later on, you will have piqued my interest. you're suggesting that time restricts lynch options, ergo you may be attempting to ensure that certain players in the unrestricted free agent column are not lynched. again, the point itself is valid, so it would be unfair of me to light you up for it as things stand. my concern is potential.
