Hey guys. Don't have much to add, other than if you need to refer to me, feel free to use "TM." My name is too long. :(

I like the voting mechanic.

This is interesting.

What do you say, Cerebus? Are you any good at puzzles?

Wait, what? A majority of the players are townies right now. The more pro-town people finishing puzzles, the better the town is because of that. In addition to that, you're essentially discussing booting the better problem solvers. The only weapon townies have is their mind, so it makes ZERO sense to throw dirt at someone who is "smart enough to do puzzles." At this point, you'd be getting my vote when you're on the chopping block next.

vote Cerebus

I liked nhat's 17 sheet answer. It was not what I was looking for, but it was clever. :) I'll think of something to pose to Cerebus sometime today or tomorrow, but for now, nhat is my choice to move on.

To address questions:

re:puzzle solving and townieness

It has no indicator on who is town and who is not. The issue here is that it's going to be hard to decipher on Day 1 as to who is town, who is scum, are they both town, or are they both scum? I thought nhat brought up a good point via being a good puzzle solver. If we have to lynch 2 people, and it's essentially random, then I'm going to lynch the person who I think will contribute less to the town.

re:losing a problem solver

Yes, town has more minds to work with. However, that doesn't mean we should willingly lynch the better thinker like farside was suggesting. Also, google or not, I'd like to have the best possible group of players going forward.

re: voting this early in the game

I talk with my vote. Check any game I've been in and my vote is usually out, unless it's end game or close to it.

re: no lynch

Is no lynch an option in this game? If so, a Day 1 no lynch would be for the best, simply because we're at zero information and I don't see how we're going to get much done when deciding between two pre-destined people.

It's going to be a game where we analyze player votes a lot. Anyone who is unwilling to throw their vote down without throwing a fit is going to draw my attention.

Farside has two strikes against him, as far as I'm concerned:
-felt threatened by a puzzle solver, for poor reasons
-is trying to guilt trip voters

Also, solving the newspaper problem was mostly a joke. I'm basing my judgment on the follow up with the sheet answer. :D

Nothing in the OP suggests that these are competitive challenges, though.

Also, the tribe that votes their strongest players out first usually loses upon merge. :D

That said, there's nothing that suggests cerebus is a poor puzzle solver, and I don't think that's a valid reason to vote him.

I realize they are individual, what I am saying is that the OP does not specify that they are competitive. Every player in the game could solve the puzzle and get a bonus, for all we know.

That was me, farside.

And yes, I agree. The most information we'll get will be via pressuring the voters. This is especially true with the first couple lynches, since our suspicious people might not even be on the chopping block.

I'm going to
unvote
,
vote: no lynch
, as I've decided that it doesn't make much sense to lynch either of them. I'm strongly opposed to no lynches in general, but this is one scenario where it makes sense.
