I'll start by weighing in on the fascinating players at the moment.

@Friend: I'm going to say quite the opposite. I'm gonna say that dr isn't smart enough to realize that doing this sort of "bah I got hammered" gambit is blatantly obvious.

VIs can be scum. They have been known to pull ridiculous gambits and blend perfectly. See O175: Picking Simplicity in the yGDB in my sig for an example (player in question: Heilograph).

I don't want the Day to end though with two blank player slots. I think the opportunity to beat the Mafia to the kill is lost (there HAS to be 3 Mafia- it's illogical given the premise of this game to have 2) anyway, so I'll inhibit the vote. Still,

Robb is being naïve and nothing more IMO. Yes, in theory D1 lynches aren't always Town, but to suggest that our first instinct is wrong solely because of this is a misuse of statistics. I think that's the one flaw in mikeburnfire's flash- he cites D1 leading probably to a Town target. It may be true, but it's misconstrued and turned into alarmism by newer players unnecessarily.

I think lack of knowledge of Jack's meta is detrimental to some players as well. He's going to one-line through the game, and that may kick him in the ass or lead to a very successful game. Maybe he's scum- but I haven't seen concrete evidence of this.

This is kind of a wise ass comment, but it's actually very funny and, more importantly, pretty perceptive. I'll take it even further and say that I'm scratching my chin as to why yabba even bothered to say that other than to make it look like he was doing more than he is.

I was probably falling asleep posting that last one at 10:25 PM. I expected to just roll into this game having come from the MD thread devising this setup.

@Scott- I do think Friend switched opinions rather quickly, but consider this: the situation is rather straightforward, either: A) shotty miscounted the votes and thought he was lynched B) he knew it was L-1 and lied. There's not really a Town motivation to do B. I think in this case, it's actually permissible if you believe it to be true.

That said Scott- what do you make of shotty in this game? You never refuted or accepted the wagon, IIRC.

I actually left this off for some odd reason- but basically RedCoyote is dangling bait, saying that he's "scratching his chin" on why I'm contributing more than I am. Whether he's calling me suspicious or not is opaque, and that has me wary.

The not contributing point is false. I fluffed in the preliminary stages, yeah, but it's certainly not the case now.

on the issues

, such as the issue of dr's alleged gambit, Friend's reaction to said gambit (which CAN be info gained from a shotty lynch, I contest!), any novel observations you make in the reactions to these gambits, etc. etc. etc. and analyze stances based on that. Please note that I have in fact made contentful posts along with this fluff stating what I felt about these issues in as transparent a manner as possible, and thus I have contributed to scumhunting in a Town way.

Observation I completely missed: Data actually never dwelled on why shotty, despite being in the not-confirmed-Town list he bullshitted, isn't scum. I also notice that he was somehow afraid of him being quickhammered. He unvotes, then immediately takes shotty's side and implies "who do you think is scum?". My mind is spinning trying to decipher why he asked that question, and I'd like him to clarify that.

@Data: Please clarify "that".

cloudocean is irking me too as I look back. That's a poor first post that makes asinine (newbie?) assumptions about Robbnva's scumhunting. Either way, he needs to weigh in on much more than that.

Somehow I still want to call Data noobtown (I think he's just misguided on the concept of when quicklynching is beneficial) and shotty still scum. I still think the gambit is feigned, and I frankly think that Friend does have a reason to suddenly switch to voting shotty if he suddenly believes that the gambit is feigned. One of those times when flipping stances as quickly as that is permissible, IMO.

The other wagons are quite distracting, and I don't see why we ever switched away from shotty and suddenly found him Town (nobody really explained, IIRC). His defense is little more than AtE (thus no defense), and his votes seem to land on people that piss him off more than people he actually feels are scum after careful analysis. Sorry your foot's broken buddy, but I'm still getting scumvibes.

Don't generalize, Robb. The fact of the matter is that I and others believe that it's a feigned gambit. I think it was rather clear that shotty was not at L-1.

One other theory: a Mafioso slipped him the idea by way of the Mafia's daytalk ability. (which somehow I *did* catch in the rules and somehow missed the premise description).

If the scum were in the ardently active players, WIFOMing the lurkers by no-killing might've disoriented the game, too. That's why quicklynching can't really narrow the pool down as verifiably as you'd like it to.

I mean, yeah, it's a loss I certainly don't deserve IMO. I was one of the people who participated in the MD thread designing this, like I mentioned, so I knew the correct tactics were to watch the reactions once scum were in sudden death. Quicklynching, on the other hand, does the polar opposite of that. I think it's a fair judgment. Don't take the term "lurkerscum" personally, for one, lurking wasn't so much that as much as it was "not being around", and secondly, it's brilliant for you, so it's hardly a rap on you, Wisteria.

Minor edit made: while Jack was easily the biggest proponent of quicklynching IMO, I made it "Jack and the Town...".
