Some rules borrowed from various places (Activity section borrowed directly from Parama).

Game Rules:


General:

1 - Do not discuss this game of mafia outside of this thread unless your role PM allows you to do so.
2 - During night phase, no talking may be done in the thread at all.
3 - Do not quote PM's from the mod at all (real or fabricated). Paraphrasing is acceptable.
4 - Do not edit your posts, at all. There will be no warnings, you will be auto modkilled for it.
5 - Once you are dead, stay that way. I shall have a Quick Topic for dead players and you will be PM'd the link when you die. So talk in that.
6 - No impossible or hard to read text.
7 - Remember this is a game, so insults will not be tolerated. Play to your win condition, not to disrupt others from enjoying the game.

Voting and Deadlines:

1 - Everyone has the power to vote.
2 - All votes must be in bold format:
vote: Prana
for example.
3 - You must
unvote
before voting. Unvotes must also be in bold as shown.
4 - Any and all votes will be counted, if you wish to waste a day phase voting for someone not in the game, that's fine by me.
5 - You may vote
No Lynch
.
6 - A lynch will occur once a majority decision is reached. If no majority is reached by deadline, then no lynch shall occur.
7 - If a player fails to submit a night action before the deadline, then they will not act that night. (Evidentally they needed their sleep)
8 - Day phases will last 2 weeks maximum. Night phases will last 72 hours, no more, no less.

Activity:

1 - If a player goes 48 hours without posting in-thread, they will be prodded. If they do not post in-thread within 48 hours following a prod, they will be replaced.
2 - Please let your mod know if you will be on V/LA – post it in-thread and bolded or PM it directly to me. If a player hasn’t directly told me they will be on V/LA I will not acknowledge it and probably won’t even know about it.
3 - If I have to prod any player more than twice per day, they will be automatically replaced.
4 - Players may request a prod on another player in the following format:
Mod: Please prod <playername>
. This is only to be done if a player has gone without posting for 48 hours and I have missed prodding them.
5 - If there are less than 10 posts in-thread within a 48 hour period I will send out a massprod. If overall activity continues to be a problem, I reserve the right to shorten day deadlines.

Other Stuffs

1 - The mod is human, if I botch something inform me politely and via PM preferably. Occasionally mistakes will be made that cannot be reversed, this will stand as is to be commiserated after the game, you will also then all be allowed to heckle the mod for said mistake.
2 - I shall aim to provide a post count a minimum of once every 24 hours. However if you wish to request a vote count please post in the following format:

And some comments from me:
First, that lynch day 3 was god damned fast, but also almost scum's undoing. I knew bristep would pick up on things, and knew chesskid wouldn't buy any of it, so it all hinged on shadow, alas for town, shadow didn't think it through and chesskid got lynched in double quick time.

I also loved in the Scum QT how in the pre-game talk (I allowed a short period of discussion pre-game, and just after the thread opened so they could all at least talk before the game got truly underway) there was huge worry about this being Pirates Of The Carribean themed, what with them having none of those characters. I was actually laughing at that :D.

Town VIP... toughie. if chess hadn't spent so much time shouting rather than honestly trying to show why he had scum reads on people, he could easily fit this slot. Unfortunately while his reads were relatively good, his play was relatively poor in regards to getting said point across.

I'd say it's a tossup between bristep123 (who almost pulled the game back on the last day, and would have done so had shadow not been so quick to just vote chess), and Wraith, who seemed to realize AV was likely scum just a couple of real life days too late, by which point he had already used his action.

Scum VIP. Might be controversial, but it's Umbrage. Without a doubt. It would have been AV prior to night 2, but then scum spent the entire night pretty much working out how best to kill off Umbrage the next day, which almost lead to their downfall. Umbrage argued against it, still used his previous coded message to say chess was vanilla (which wasn't picked up on it appears), and wound up lynched, when had the scum just gone for chess on day 3, it would have all been over there.

Fun game all round though, and well played everyone, even if I did have to send a few warnings out early game.

Hope all enjoyed the videos as well, especially as I had to make about double the amount needed thanks to constant wagon changes all over the shop :P.

Nope, only time I've done videos before was when I run Mutiny elsewhere (totally different set-up though, which is why Snake, bristep and Nexus were allowed entry into this one). Didn't go over quite as well there, but I felt I'd try it here just as a nice touch to see what people thought about them.

Also decided to add a sort of "credits" list onto the final video, including the list of music used (It's in order too, so you can easily pick out which song is which if there's any you specifically liked. All are from OC ReMix though :)).

AV, my point with the Umbrage bus was that it was unneeded from the start. You could have just had a claim of "watched X, saw nothing" and it likely would have been enough to have gotten chesskid lynched. Bussing Umbrage meant you ran the serious risk of everything unfolding, your entire win wound up hinging on shadow and him not coming back to switch his vote to smargaret. Had he done so, well there's no way scum would be split at this late stage, and the only question mark over anyone's head would have been shadow anyway by then, meaning as he was the one to switch and get scum lynched, the only one left that could possibly be scum would have been yourself.

Though I'd be lying if as small part of me wasn't hoping for a scum win.

I'd already made the video and didn't want to piss about moving everything round again :P.

And shadow, town wasn't underpowered, not by a long stretch.

Weak Doc was actually an investigative role. It confirms town players, meaning that player has a solid base to work off. It's just a shame it was offed night 1 (it's better than a cop which is ridiculously overpowered).

Tracker was essentially this game's doc, and works in a less powerful way (kill still goes through, but the killer is (likely) known).

and Friendly neighbor is another one use investigative role, though it works in reverse. It allows the player recieving it to have a player confirmed to them.

Scum had a goon, a roleblocker (which is less useful with less powerful roles like this game had) and a Rolecop (which is similarly less powerful in this set-up, especially when he investigates Vanillas all across the board). Personally I felt the game itself was rather well balanced, as while town essentially wasted two of their three PRs day 1, scum at that point pretty much became a 3 goon group.

Also, something else to remember... don't all rush to reveal that you're Vanilla on day one, I think about 3 people were all revealed to be Vanilla day 1 (Including chesskid I'll note), which meant half the player list was already known to scum (okay they ignored chess' VT claim, but ah well).

No, he definitely claimed VT with the whole "Would William Turner be a PR or not" stuff, when trying to point out that Sparrow could be a VT. If chess was a PR, as William Turner, he would have been expecting Sparrow to be one too as Sparrow's more likely to be a PR than Turner. Ergo a VT claim.

It was kind of funny having you guys block chess three nights running when he was a Vanilla who had as good as claimed as such. But I wasn't going to tell you that :P.

and smargaret is right, chess' reads day 1 were very dangerous for scum. The problem was nobody was listening because there was no actual logic being presented in regards to how those reads happened. I'd strongly suggest toning down the shouting type of play, and instead switching to a more relaxed and thoughtful style, and trying to point out your cases better.

The most important part of being town isn't getting good reads, it's in presenting your reads to the other town players. Everything else is useless without that. If you can get others to see where you're coming from, that's half the battle won already, regardless of whether you're town or scum.

chess, I know you like to think you were the most obv-town player, and that you played perfect... but to be quite honest, your play was one of the things that harmed the town more than anything. Your reads were good sure. But because you never once tried to discuss them, instead preferring to just shout down anyone and everyone who thought differently, you singlehandedly made sure nobody ever listened to what you were saying. Then day 2 on, while you had smargaret pegged, you had Umbrage and AV as town, and were wanting to off other town too. So your play there also wasn't all that solid either.

Voting for Umbrage when you honestly thought he was town in lylo was also perhaps the absolute worst move I've ever seen on this site too. As that's the exact definition of playing against your win condition, something which can (and will with various people) get you blacklisted from playing in there games.

So yeah, you have a long way to go to be deemed a good player. I'm not saying you're a bad player because your initial gut reads are right, but unfortunately at this stage that's the only thing going for you, and while it's important, it's worthless unless you're playing well in other ways too.

Then rather than trolling, why not try taking advice on board? Nobody is out and out attacking you, everyone as far as I can see is giving you advice for improving your play so that you can, y'know... actually get listened to instead of having everyone go "fuck playing with chesskid again" which is what your current playing is doing. That's not a good thing, though I'm sure you'll just laugh and act like it's what you want, but eventually you'll wind up with the only people willing to play with you being players who are also hated because they play awful and refuse to even try and improve.

Nobody minds bad players as long as they try and get better whenever possible. It's those who play badly, then act like they deliberately play badly, or that they LIKE playing badly. It just means you get people who hate playing alongside you, and you will get policy lynched. Hell, much as I hate to say it, if I wound up in a game with you after this one, I would likely policy lynch you day 1 just to prevent things turning into needless shouting.

Not so, there were a couple of clips from the music video Keelhauled by Alestorm (guy opening the chest with the gold in it, and the guy steering near the start).

But yeah, there was a lot of PotC clips used (including one that wasn't even used in the PotC movies itself no less :D), but it's extremely hard to find any good pirate type stuff otherwise (hence why all day to day clips were of random pirate ships sailing, with the only other action stuff being in the final clip).

Well, there's three main flaws with that.

First, I've never seen the thing, so it wasn't in my mind when I did the video.

Second, you're showing me it afterwards, that's too late :P

Third, that clip has subtitles, it would have played havoc with my subtitles.
