Makes perfect sense, yet it's not mentioned anywhere in the rules that I can see...I made a point of reading them since he said they changed. It's not buried in wikipedia, is it?UltimaAvalon wrote:Votes come with the elimination round, thx for reading"I'm like the customer support line for life."

So yes as it has already been hinted, I haven't watched top chef. But I think the two phases should totally overlap. The show's format seems simple enough (this isn't a bad thing) and a great candidate for a mafia game to be modeled after. Perhaps a few more compliments to the mod and I can get the phantom vote removed...muhahaha.
Anyways, the negative penalty for bottom scoring also wasn't mentioned, but I imagine that if I had been watching the show I'd have seen that coming? Because without a negative at the bottom, the obvious choice is the 1-20 dish; it's your only real chance of winning (unless something very strange happens like everyone picking the same safe dish). Of course, it's also your only real chance of losing when there's the bottom penalty.
Also, I'd like to point out
So random voting IS my strategy for day one! I WILL NEVER SURRENDER! It's all a moot point by now since we're already done with the quickfire challenge, of course...LML wrote:The thread will be unlocked for the town to discuss strategy."I'm like the customer support line for life."

I expected the downside, but it wasn't ever mentioned So I chose based on what was confirmed, and I'd do the same thing again if I had to. And what do you know, day 2 I bet I will get a similar choice!
I'll be all helpful and do a vote count:
3 UltimaAvalon (Shteven, Dybeck, UltimaAvalon)
2 Shteven (Mexal, Confused)
2 Mexal (Manaspryte, DragonsofSummer)
2 Rogueben (Flameaxe, Jdodge)
2 Jdodge (Qman)
1 ManaSpryte (Rogueben)
Honestly I was quite surprised how many people have two votes. Random voting seems to like voting with other people apparently
The only person to put on a third vote did it to themselves... Although one could consider Confused's vote to be the third vote, as I have a phantom vote. But now can we really lynch someone who doesn't even know where they are?
Now start posting, people!"I'm like the customer support line for life."

I think Lee should have said something about -constructive- posts being needed. *cough*
Anyways, my vote count wasn't wrong, it was just warped in from the future. See, Jdodge now has the two votes it predicted. So yeah, it's totally accurate.
So I'm pretty sure they've probably pulled the team asshat thing before, but it is pretty unhelpful. Let's teach them a lesson!
Unvote.
Vote: Jdodge!"I'm like the customer support line for life."

This seems like ages ago, but I just wanted to say my reasoning for saying it seems like you've done this before (I didn't check any past games) was it is a pre-named team that you both started to act identically right from the start of the game with no disagreement. So that's the reason. The vote, however, was a silly day one vote. As I'm sure this team asshat started before the game started, you didn't have your roles yet.JDodge wrote:HAY PEOPLE
I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THEY'VE DONE THIS BEFORE
I HAVE NO REAL REASONING
LET'S WAGON ANYWAYS!
I'll try not to hold these posts against you, but I hope the all caps phase is over

If it's just my tits that are scummy, can I cut it out and be town? Or maybe I can post a picture of being a skinny male and prove I don't have tits....
Anyways, let's try to be a bit more productive. I know it's day 1, but I'm trying to get some discussion going here. Not an easy thing to do with day start games. The lurker lynch wasn't serious, as should have been obvious by the /cackle that followed it."I'm like the customer support line for life."

As policy of mine, I try to post each day, or at least every other day, in each game. It's going to be hard to do that when there's only one post besides mine here. I'm not that afraid of being lynched day 1, but if the thread consists of me talking to myself, we won't really have any other targets."I'm like the customer support line for life."

It's a simple "I wish people would play this game" vote. I'm not wagoning anyone who's actually here; if he posts, it'll be gone.
I mentioned that because without it, I would agree that it's a bad play to wagon randomly, but honestly, you can't even come close to lynching me now since 80% of the town isn't playing. I want to get the town playing, and then I'll worry about defending myself. The vote will be gone if he posts so much as "hi"."I'm like the customer support line for life."

Slightly odd posts by faraway, but a promise is a promise, welcome back.
Unvote.
If by CC, you mean carbon copy, which I imagine would be quoting someone else, then yes you can quote other players, there's a quote button when posting. I'm not sure what you mean by protocol, but some basic rules are no communication with other players outside the thread about the game, and you can't edit your posts (I think this is also impossible, though).
I'm really hoping I don't have to do this to every player on the list Everyone else lurking, get out here."I'm like the customer support line for life."

ah, yeah, you are welcome to claim at any point. Of course, claiming right now would be quite a bit unusual, but I haven't really played many theme games, I imagine there may be more reason to claim in a theme game.
But in any case, you could claim now, you just shouldn't."I'm like the customer support line for life."

Starting random wagons wouldn't be the best day 1 I could hope for, but it may help. I already did enough of it myself though. I imagine if I tried again it would just end up being a wagon on me. Glad to see Mexal is back, we have been hearing from about half the players on the last page, so perhaps if we can focus on the other 6, we can get most of us talking."I'm like the customer support line for life."

My main concern is the sheer number of lurkers (I haven't counted exactly, but roughly 6? at least 5?) means that there has to be at least some town lurking, even though it's probably mafia lurking. So it's a dangerous tell to use, and thus it's going to make day one that much harder.
Have lurking players been prodded?"I'm like the customer support line for life."
