Let the game begin

Only a few weeks ago (Swift speed: Werewolf I) the werewolves easily took control over the puny village Wolventon. Each day, since then, they were playing out the silly life of common people in the village and at night they all went up to their own hill to howl at the moon.

However, one morning one wolf of the pack didn’t come down his hill. When the werewolves went up there they found him pierced by a silver arrow. Immediately they realized that their lives were at stake. Some revenge lusting or retaliation driven humans from a neighbouring hamlet must have infiltrated their ranks.

They decided to each day choose a person to lynch. Hopefully they would kill the humans and by that be rid of the problem once and for all (don’t ask me why they chose the same flawed way as the, by now dead, villagers before them did). They all gathered on the town square to decide whom to lynch today. And they were in quite a hurry, in but a few hours (approximately 96) night would come and during the dark hours they each felt the urge to howl at the moon from their own hill.

Sometime early day one xyzzy stumbled over his wording, reason or the balancing faqct that human's lack a tail, you are not sure of which. However you notice that he really is a human by the time you string him up and hang him. And not only that, from his neck you can also see a chain with holy symbols on. The feeling from yesterdays successful lynch didn’t want to appear today and the wolves were not as unanimous this time, however, night was coming and with that the call of the wild. Said and done, with only a few stray words from his lips killa seven was strung up and lynched. Unfortunately killa was an ordinary werewolf.

The plan the werewolves had made up the day before had somehow failed during the night. And more and more of the wolves claimed they had different kinds of powers making the decisions for the evening’s lynch even harder. After going back and forth most of them were agreeing on lynching one of the claimers. This unfortunately lead to lynching a raging werewolf berserk.

Just to make sure the game doesn't stall I've let Phoebus act back up-mod (since dead Rikimaruy hasn't been around for more than a week) if my Internet fails when I move tomorrow. He'll start new day 1 hour after deadline if I don't make it back.

The pack was divided once more and couldn’t come to a unanimous decision before the moon started calling for them (resulting in a deadline lynch). Battle Mage was carried to the lynching site, squirming like fish bait. However, this evening the pack could howl in triumph since the last human in the strike team was found.

Jenter Brolincani

You role: werewolf berserk

You are a frenzied killer, highly valued in the tribe. You’ve got two one shot-abilities:
1. Frenzied attack (a.k.a one shot vigilante): You can kill any other player during one night, just PM me and tell who you’ll be targeting (make sure to send in your choice in time – see rule #008).
2. Rabid defence (a.k.a. one shot bullet proof): You will not die the first time someone tries to nightkill you (however, you won’t know when this rabid defence is used).

You win when all the threats against the werewolf pack has been eliminated.



Phoebus

You role: werewolf berserk

Your role: Sniffer (a.k.a. Cop)

You have a very sensitive nose and you can, by the scent, tell if a player is a werewolf or not. Each game day you can PM me a player name that you want to sniff (make sure to send in your choice in time – see rule #008). During the night phase I will tell you the investigated player’s alignment (town or werewolf).

You win when all the threats against the werewolf pack has been eliminated.



Grimmy

Your role: Hairless old timer (a.k.a. Miller)

You are one of the oldest werewolves in the pack. Unfortunately that means that you’ve lost a lot of your fur and is considered almost human by some. If there are investigating roles in the setup, you will come up as human to them.

You win when all the threats against the werewolf pack has been eliminated.

Your role: Werewolf (a.k.a. townie)

Not long after your pack had taken control over the village Wolventon these damn humans sent in some kind of undercover strike team to kill you all. Your role: Cleric

You are in the human strike team together with
Flameaxe
. The two of you may communicate privately whenever you like – no matter if it’s day or night – using this thread: Mafia 81: Human strike team. Furthermore you can cure lycanthropy the first night with a full moon (i.e. can only be used night one). By curing a player from lycanthropy that player joins your team, gets your win condition and may communicate with you in the thread mentioned above. PM me a player name before day 1 is ended (once again, make sure to send in your choice in time – see rule #008) that you want to cure. As soon as that player then starts communicating with you in the quick topic thread you know that he is cured.
You cannot both cure and do a nightkill the same night.


You win when the human strike team outnumbers the werewolves, or nothing can prevent that from happening.

• Phoebus vig kills Jenter (blocked by Jenter’s 1shot bullet – now used up)
• OGML tracks My Milked Eek (goes to Rogue Shenanigans)
• Rogue tracks phoebus (gets no result since he is killed) (No reason handing out unnecessary info)
• My Milked Eek investigates Rogue (turns out to be a werewolf)

Mod questions


This is only my second game modded and I have a few questions for you in order to improve my modding, setup balance and game mechanics:

questions

1. Was 96 hours too short time for a day? (I actually preferred the 72 hours pace used in my first game – but maybe that’s just me)
2. Any opinions on the night choice mechanic – that you had to PM it before the deadline?
3. Any opinions on the private communication (werewolves) could go on at all times?
4. Was the game balanced considering power roles?
5. Should I permit conditional night choices (= kill X, but if X is lynched I kill Y instead)?
6. Would you join another swift game? why/why not?

I actually plan to have one more swift game coming up continuing the saga of Wolventon (in a month or two).

@ Battle Mage: I think you made a great game, considering entering a near lynch on yourself. I also liked your claim - Alpha wolf :) It most definitely could have been in the game.

The recruiter could recruit, but only the first night.
