I noticed that the site meta has changed over time.

It used to be that power roles were helpful to the town, and that claims helped solve the game. This is no longer true.

I just finished playing Sybil's Elegy which was a great example of the role distribution being designed to confuse at best, and F up at worse, the town. I have played others with similar anti-town mod shenanigans.

Here's the deal.

We should not claim, ever.

Treating the game as mountainous will increase our chances of winning.

What we should do (and I include vanilla townies) is to crumb our night choices somehow BEFORE the night. Vanilla townies must crumb fake targets.

When you're dead, and we know your role and alignment, we can go back and use the crumbs for the solve.

Solving games by way of RESULTS and CLAIMED ROLES will not work. It just doesn't work anymore.

almost50 - honestly not all that bad, but i would like to hear some actual reads on the game because looking back on his iso he doesn't really have a lot. even if its just the first impressions that hes been getting anything would help a lot

One thing you should know about me is I'm not a conventional player. I Scum hunt in "weird" ways, pay attention to stuff that usually go unnoticed, and sometime miss the obvious.

One of my weird ways of scumhunting is to look into the first 3 posters in each game, as these have been proven -statistically- to have 1 scum in them more often than not. However, this tool has failed me of late, and even if it's true here; the first 3 were STD (who hasn't given me much yet), ArcAngel (who isn't really playing the game), Dwlee (whom I seem to always have trouble reading as his Town and Scum play are almost identical).

The top 3 most active players (CT/Nero/LQ) all seem Town to me so far, but don't quote me on it because there's usually 1 hyperactive scum.

The following block of Norwee/T3/Meg/DGB/Gamma/Shrek/Roden should contain 1-2 scums in it, while Dwlee/DotW/STD/Testa/Kitty/Arc should contain the other 2-1.

Another problem is I was Scum in the previous game against a whole bunch of the players in this game and I did use the inactivity of Arc/Kitty against their slots. This is to say I think it's NAI for them to be of low activity. but it's still getting to me because I had ALWAYS SR'd lurkers eversince I started playing Mafia at all. (N_M is a rare exception)

I guess I should also warn you that when forced to give early reads I may or may not deliberately lie about some of them for various reasons. For example; I may have recognized someone as a strong TR (or even PR) and want to protect them from the Scum NK by demoting them on my readlist. There are other reasons/cases, but I'm not about to write a "How A50 plays the game" guide, so I'll leave it at that.

Can you go over why you think these blocks in particular?

ACTIVITY. When there are 3 scums it's usually the case one is hyperactive, one is mildly active, and one is lurking. With 4 scums I just added the extra slot to either the mildly active group or the lurking group. Nothing is carved in stone though.

Also, this game feels like it needs a breakthrough. The "right" flip here could make the game much easier for us, while the wrong one could send us down in spirals. I'm watching the multiple 1-on-1's with some interest, but not much judgement for the time being.

So, yes.. I have Town LEANS on all 3 of you, but I suspect I might be wrong on one still. I could have stated there's "half a scum" between you three, meaning there could be 1 at max but could be 0. Then again, that would have complicated the phrasing much more because I would have had to include the extra half in my next 3 blocks and I suspect nobody would have understood what I'm saying anyway.

Sim basically if all of you/CT/Nero are TOWN, then there are probably 2 scums in each of the other 2 blocks. I can't see 3 lurking scums and one that's NOT hyperactive, and I can't see 3 mildly active scums with the 4th lurking and they're not trying to soft bus them at the very least.

I stopped by the replacements thread before I cam in here, and I feel disappointed to say the least. I wanted to try and focus on how Testarossa played this game because she totally fooled me the last game (I was Scum, she was Scum on the opposing team, and it was -my partner- Titus that caught her, while I was more focused on Nero whom I got strong "Wolf" vibes from upon the flip of the third wolf; Elsa Jay).

Does this mean I want to vote Testa's slot? Let e be honest, part of me does, but -the more logical- part wants to wait and see what the replacement brings in.

Why does Mega claim that Cheeky visited DGB N2? That seems like utter suicide if Cheeky was RBed. If DGB was RBed, then wouldn't Cheeky still get a result? If DGB were Rolestopped then Shrek would be semi-innocent. If Cheeky was RBed, then Shrek is guilty. But if Mega didn’t know Cheeky’s result, then DGB was either Rolestoped or Abducted. That still says nothing about DGB/Shrek so we have to look at other data to sort DGB/Shrek given I am alive now.

Otherwise I don't know how Shrek is cleared (or semi-cleared).

If DGB is Scum, then they are likely teamed with a PoE of Roden and/or Nero, and AA9 and/or A50. If Shrek is Scum the PoE is likely DotW, Kitty, and A50.

I was RB'd again on a different target meaning my action failed because I was Roleblocked N2 and then again N3. This means DGB was not RB'd N2 or RS. Therefore Shrek is lying about his tracker result, as if that wasn't already clear yesterday.

You could be 100% correct or you could be totally off. I mean, Alien on DGB on N2 is still a possibility (although less so now that Shrek backed off his Tracker claim). IF there's an Alien they could have been on your new target as well (very slim chance of it) or they could have been on you on N3 only (after you claimed).

The thing is Shrek already came clean and admitted his Tracker claim was BS, so I'm reevaluating.

On the first 2 nights I tried to steer away from TPRs, actually. On N1 I targeted MegA (and can tell you they didn't perform the kill). I actually wanted to target Testa but she got replaced by cyrus, so I went for the second best option.

On N2 I thought Nero was both Town AND NOT a PR, so I targeted him.

On N3 I targeted you because I thought you didn't have an action on that night, and I did buy your claim.

And to those who don't know what the circular protection dilemma means, if a Doctor is on BG and BG is on Doctor they can never get killed because targeting the Doctor should kill the BG except the BG is protected by the Doctor. targeting the BG directly also fails because of Doc protection. As always, including multiple protective roles in the game can lead to broken role combinations. Doctor+Bodyguard can lead to circular protections, as can Bodyguard+Bodyguard. If you are going to include these combinations in your game, make sure you specify how they work - presumably in a way that does not allow them to cross-protect successfully.

Actually there are other ways around it. like making one of them Macho or Ascetic. Anything that makes it impossible for them to simultaneously target each other. In fact the Indecisive solution is the most pro-Town one since it allows them being on each other for "half the game", while Macho/Ascetic should prevent that from ever happening
