If he judges himself in a position of power, he may act like a bit of a jerk and use the rise he gets out of his target to manipulate opinion against the target (a basic rhetoric function) and to manipulate the target. Most attention he has drawn this game has been in the direction of people he's attacking; in the current meta this is certainly not default negative attention drawn, and it remains unclear whether it will pan out as attention a scumbag wouldn't want drawn to himself - but post like this make me worried that it is calculated. Alright, I've read over everything and here's the contradiction that gets me - Lost Butterfly's primary argument is "Benmage is an idiot who got forced into a 1:1 and decided to fakeclaim." However, Bnemage has the cop claim crumbed in his first post and the guilty very clearly crumbed as well. This means the exact opposite of what LB is saying is true - Benmage didn't "rage fakeclaim"...he's had this planned for quite some time. Could he have done it a scum? ...sure, but then that's some really brilliant planning and manipulation, which is inconsistent with LB's worldview that Benmage is a total bumbling idiot. If he took the time to carefully plan all this, why would he blow it at such a bad moment?

In any case, I actually don't even think Benmage is an insane cop. That was a silly road, and I got mindtricked onto it by Faraday. I think he is a sane cop, and that Lost Butterfly is scum. People keep treating Lost Butterfly as confirmedtown and Benmage as a nutcase. But if you think about it, Lost Butterfly has done absolutely nothing to confirm himself as town. He's just played a good town game, which scum are perfectly capable of (see Mafia MetaMafia). The vision of Lost Butterfly as town is reliant entirely Lost Butterfly being more charismatic than Benmage. But that doesn't matter. Benmage cop makes sense. His guilty makes sense. Occam's razor this giant mess: Lost Butterfly is scum.

Apart from the last bit with Benmage's guilty making sense. (due to interactions afterward) this is an extremely savvy post.
