I totally think his scummates put him up to it. A Maruscum for Fatetown trade is like trading a pawn for like a rook or a queen or something in chess. In other words, I could totally see the scumteam getting Maru to all-in on the dayvig, which can't be blocked, shooting Fate, and then getting Maru lynched for it. No day doctor to protect him now.

My kneejerk instinct was to say chamber was scum too but I have a feeling that scum will probably be hyper-bussing at this point, especially ESPECIALLY if Maru flips scum.

I don't know what the exact odds are, but they're probably not that much lower than my other scumreads. On day 1, when things are more random, I'd rather lynch based on secondary factors (or at least weigh them in more) like potential helpfulness to the town, potential scumhunting ability and potential night power. We sacrifice in all three areas if we lynch someone other than Maruchan (this assumes both Maru and the alternative is a mislynch).

I think retaining higher amounts of those other qualities is more likely to benefit the town in the long run, as I feel those differences outweigh the difference between Maru odds or being scum and someone else. Does this make any sense?

Lynching for those factors severaly limits the amount of information we get from the lynch limiting how effective the next days lynch is. More than that lynching for those reasons gives up a true attempt at hitting scum. The only time a policy lynch is even remotely viable is when the player is otherwise unreadable, and I'm not ready to admit that about maru-chan.

Basically I think marginally increasing the towns average ability isn't more valuable than an attempt at hitting mafia is. (and I don't think maru-chan is better than random at this point).

Because I've never (To my knowledge) played with him before, I had a null-scum read on him because he seemed to be doing everything to avoid the leading wagon (Maruchan), and his Scummy for "Best Town Performance" meant he'd be a very valuable asset as a Confirmed Townie.

the way in which he pushed the DX lynch makes me feel that he's town. The "scum will try to gain whatever they can out of a mislynch" argument kind of fails to me, because i feel like, if i were seraphim, the way that i pushed the DX lynch would make me feel like i was making myself scummy.

Like, I feel like if scum were in seraphim's position, they wouldn't have acted like he did because it would have felt scummy to them to do so.

Maybe I'm underestimating my own notoriety, but I think in this player list I'd have been a safe n1 kill nine times out of 10. You have already said scum had motivation to make townie looking picks. Those 2 things together stop your statement from being a given.

claim targets. I'm still trying to decide if they should claim action/results as well. I don't think structuring the claim (say like popcorn) is worth the time lag it will cause though. Just throw results out there?
