idk..i think typically giving lower scores to very popular bands/songs is good because it encourages more diversity in entries instead of just like..the top 150 songs of all time. I also think doing that in battle of the best is weird. but those two ideas are contradictory

As far as I know the point was never anonymity. It was simply cause eurovision.

from an outsideish perspective, I think giving low scores to popular songs regardless of how much you like them in a BOTB is elitist hipster nonsense
I can see the argument for it in a normal contest, but it still bugs me for different reasons that prob aren't good enough to counter the reasons to do it

Well the biggest counter argument is that if you sand bag them in the normal contest, they aren't going to get to BOTB where itd be acceptable to vote for them normally, which is the issue im have trouble reconciling

but also...i really don't want to have to listen to see one combination of classic and contemporary top 40 and rolling stones top 100s for the next forever contests. Call it a meta warping issue.

I just don't know what we are arguing about, to be perfectly honest. Is Prana just whining that he can't use fake countries? How does using fake countries add anything to this? Are we getting rid of countries all together? That seems inherently less interesting. Do people want anonymity? Then every single person needs to stop posting their thoughts on songs which would literally take away the only engagement this thread gets outside of dumb arguments.

Dumb arguments are literally the number 1 reason to engage with the song contest thread.

Ok, so tool wants to make it easier for himself by making a scroll instead of having a type-in he has to police. The counter argument is why police? And a different unrelated argument is that countries are stupid so...???
