Game Purpose
Everyone has been given a character name, and one or more goals to achieve. Achieve your goals to be counted as a winner.
To Win:
Achieve your goal(s) AND unless your role says otherwise, find your way onto the train and head home. You will not be able to board the train until you have completed your primary goal.
All goals have more than one way of being achieved.
It is possible for your goal to change mid-game, but this will depend on what happens.
To Lose:
You lose if you die.
You lose if your goals become completely impossible to achieve.
Be Aware
Some peoples goals may be contradictory. If you goal was to "Sharpen a pencil", and someone else's goal was to "Destroy all pencil sharpeners before they are ever used", then one person completing their goal could make it impossible for the other person. But of course if you were to sharpen your pencil with a knife instead of a pencil sharpener, both players can still complete their goals.
Phases
The game is broken into phases.
Odd numbered phases
will see all living players come together in the common area known as the eatery. You will all interact in a single thread.
Even numbered phases
will see all living players head off to Shops & Rooms to explore them. You, and any players who chose the same rooms will all end up in a private thread dedicated to that room.
During the Odd Numbered Phases (Eatery Phase), you will select what room you wish to go to by posting in your Role Thread.
At the moment, Rooms have a Max of 4 people in them at a time, and will be allocated on a first-come-first serve basis. This number may change during the game. If you are unable to visit a room because it is full, you will be asked to make a second choice.
Room Selections can be written as
Visit Pet Store; 2nd Choice Gift Store
. You don't have to make a default second choice, but it would be helpful if you could.
Basic Rules
1. NO PMS to any players. If you wish to converse privately with a player, ask for a private thread to be setup. Whenever you are in the same room as the person, you will be able to use that thread to converse. We are unable to accommodate 3 way conversations. You should assume people in the same room as you are conversing, there is no requirement to tell everyone you are.
2. This game is played by posting actions in your threads. Eg
Open Window
or
Swim in Lake
or
Press Eject Button on Remote Control
Post all actions that you wish to do in a room in bold.
The next available mod will process the choice.
3. Chaining Commands with IFs and ANDs and ORs aren't allowed. You cannot say
Open Box, and if successful, take contents, and throw contents at Bob. If not successful, kick bob
4. There are no limits to what actions you do, but actions take time. If you want to try every possible combination of 4 digits on an ATM with a credit card you stole, you may find yourself only up to 5553 two days later. All we ask is that you be fair on other players, so that you don't rush everything in a room before others even login.
(Note: Captain Meme and I are 12 hours apart in RL, and this means we do have approximately 24 hour coverage for choice processing)
5. Actions must be sensible. You can post
Open Door
which is a wholly logical thing to try. You cannot post
Levitate to Ceiling and take the lightbulbs
and expect it to work. You would need to have been told specifically that levitation is a skill you have.
6. This game has been designed with set paths for people to follow, but we will accept any answer to a problem that works. We do reserve the right to say no to a logical solution if it is gamebreaking, however we will attempt to allow all actions by players wherever possible.
Attacks
7. To attack a player, post
Attack <player>
and an attack phase will be entered for 24 hours. From there, players can negotiate or do things related to the fight. Once both players agree for the attack to be resolved, or 24 hours has passed, the mods will resolve the attack.
7. All players have HIT Points. Once you hit 0 points, you are unconscious for the remainder of that phase. At that point, any player may ROB you of your items, or may kill you (or both).
8. All players have ATTACK points. If you attack someone, you will roll an X sided dice. The amount you roll is the amount of damage you will do to the other person (This can be affected by other things)
9. If you have an item that increases your Attack (eg a knife), it will ADD 1 (or more) to the result. Eg rolling a 1, becomes a 2. 6 becomes 7. The more items you have, the stronger your rolls can get.
10. If you have an item that increases your DEFENSE (eg a shield), it will subtract 1 from the opponents roll.
11. If an attack happens in a room that you are in, you may post to
Support <player name>
. You will add 1 to their dice roll, and recieve 1 HP damage in the attack.
12. If an attack occurs in the 24 hours before deadline, 24 hours will be added to the deadline to allow time for resolution of the attack, but no further actions unrelated to the fight can be accepted.
12B If you are in a different room during an extension, you may carry on exploring the room, but further attacks will not be allowed.
Inventory
Unless otherwise stated, your inventory is 10 items max.
Loose change does not count towards the Inventory count. Larger amounts of cash will take up slots.
