okay so basically: in a game based around night action + management, scum wants anything but to be leashed/beholden to the wants of the town because of a scumread, which i believe makes the scum less likely to bus since they're kiiiinda fucked with a game like this that has accountability to it. they want to look towny beyond just like, blending in with town lol but to also escape the naughty dungeon zone where it's obvious if they do or don't do what they want.

sidenote: i townlean emily for her sentiment of "if you call it leashing i don't wanna do it" because that's the exact same way i feel about it and that's probably dumb but i felt it so fucking hard, it's not fun to play like that and it's not fun to follow a leader even if that leader is correct. sometimes you just wanna fuck around and find out.

sidenote, sidenote: can't remember if i said this earlier but i was thinking it, i don't think speculating/paranoia over chrom's alignment is worthwhile to me so long as their plan is helpful, it's possible that they'd like... decide to do +towny things regarding mech i guess? but despite that, and knowing they could do it as scum, i don't really have any reason to scumread them.

anyways. i think that saying that infinity was townier for more scumreads on them might have been pre-emptive because the term i meant was more anti-associatives because town can also scumread scum. so. of the interactions with infinity, i didn't get a whole lot out of it wrt isis and infinity, alignment wise.

that's a fair assessment; i do have issues faking logic which is usually the best way to read me when i'm scum, imo. the social aspects/playing to the table comes easily to me because that stuff i don't have to fake. being a chameleon personality-wise to what is suited is fun to me. i get anxious a lot that people will pick at what i say/think, however, because i'm bullshitting it. something about the guardians game just clicked for me after a certain point though so i am hoping to carry that energy forward into both of my alignments.

aka i just say stuff and i'm gonna win every game i play. that being said this pocket is very warm for you as always unwnd (thank you for the analysis though, i always like new angles to look at my own play!)

i don't actually feel that strongly about infinity wrt being town and it's mostly just funposting because she's my friend, the closest i came to that sort of read was when there was some pressure on her. but i've changed how i'm thinking about the game so it faded.

infinity is a hard read for me apparently unless we spend like 10 pages fighting back and forth, but her trying to sort based on her highest levels of familiarity (and not defaulting to town on all of them) felt nice to me, especially when she doubled down on the read on koba. but the rest of it is uh... i don't want to say " i get it" @ the scumreads but i get it because she feels really awkward in the way she's posting this game, or rather, it's not awkward but it comes off as awkward to me because she feels aloof and that's not my impression of infinity as a person. that, and not to brag or whatever but i just played a really good scumgame against her and she still seems confident in her ability to read me as town. i shouldn't look the gift horse in the mouth but there isn't any paranoia at all and i guess i expected her to second-guess herself somewhere along the lines and compare her experience there to an early townread on me here.

She was an odd sight, in a tavern packed with ragtag adventurers: books floating around her gently as if they were a shield, her eyes darting over their words rather than the others around her who viewed the display curiously; a short stature made apparent from how her feet barely managed to touch the ground from the bench she sat at; magician's clothing worn at the hems from where it perpetually dragged, a consequence of aforementioned height. A 'white collar' worker in the world of dungeoneers, without the calloused skin of battle marking her experience.

But it didn't phase her, the same way her solitude failed to. The books were a great crew of companions, and with each page turn she felt a little something within her. Her magic, tugging gently at her heartstrings with the pained dialogue of a character. She felt their pain as if it were real -- and for Ydrasse, it was.

Bibliomancy was a fickle thing. There were the minor prophecies, the foresight she trusted beyond anything else when she read an old scholar's tales. A magic meant to delve deep within the past to find forgotten paths, guiding her towards... something. Something that she hadn't quite figured out yet. It wasn't a mistake that she lacked the callouses. This would be her first adventure, far away from home where she spent years honing her powers into something passable as magic worth using.

But it was the other side of the coin that brought her here: the empathy. Sorrow and joy alike pulled from each word. Their writers were her mentors, each letter meant only for her from one thousand years ago. They didn't know her then, but perhaps now they did. The nuances of magic were funny; Ydrasse wondered if each time she laughed aloud, sensing the humors of a mage trapped within words, they could feel it echoing back to them. Or if their loneliness, written into their journals, lifted when she read and wept for them.

It was the latter that brought her here. Surrounded by strangers whose hearts she hoped were true and kind, wanting to help the poor village that called for adventurers to rid it of evil. Bandits and monsters, from the rumors, working in tandem with one another to bring chaos. It frightened Ydrasse, this senselessness, and frightened her more that she couldn't yet read one's face to be a bandit or ally. Even the ones that looked so innocent -- young, smiling girls too innocent to fight, bakers laden with cakes and rolling pins as weapons, the mages whose robes matched her own, and even a

dragon whose fire was contained only to parlor tricks

-- could be her enemy.

With a heavy sigh, she steadied herself. The books hovering around her personal world lowered gracefully onto the table that she commanded. It was rude, but this was the only way she felt safe until that moment. There was no more time to consider what needed to be done -- only to do it, wordplay little use compared to danger. If she was going to do good for this town, she needed to find help. Her own team, able to make up for the places she lacked.

The first step made her feel awfully small, but the weight lifted. The table she approached seemed a good start, all those innocent faces exactly her types. When she reached the edge of it, Ydrasse paused, before finally speaking: "I... I want to do something, to help all of you."

i’m more confident about srckz currently than dunnstral but this feels good. the former (and this is based on unwnd) has a certain “clarity” to how he presents and posts when he’s town that i think he has some issues faking as scum and falls back on emotional appeals to compensate on when he’s interacting with someone who is pressuring him. in the last game i called him out on it and it was genuine, there was a level of frustration that he expressed repeatedly that looked like him trying to claw his way into a victory rather than being able to talk himself into it naturally. this is d1 sure but it feels like night and day to me knowing that he was scum all game and had to act like that versus here where he’s just Vibing.

as for dunn, i thought back a bit to titus v nancy drew where he was scum and don’t feel many similarities. i think it was hectic who i talked about his meta with after that game? about how town!dunn has an aura of prickliness/aloofness to him when he’s town. it’s not outward irritation but i think he tries to be slightly more personable as scum (and in that game im p sure he actively reached out and tried to insert him into a place where he could solve with me which fits that.) and in 504 i get more of the like... exasperation is what i felt reading it rather than him caring about what someone thought about him. in general i haven’t gotten that feeling especially since his opening this game came with him just slapping down his thoughts about the mechanics like “yup okay here’s what i’m thinking”.

i don’t feel good about morning tweet so far reading over her posts, they read forced to me. i wasn’t sure if offering to set the guillotine was towny because it does eat up a night action but i think that scum!mt might come into this game knowing that she needs to offset how people here would read her and doing something like intrinsically weakens her as a threat. it feels kinda hollow to suggest because the assumption would be inevitably we hold accountable someone to do the guillo who is scummy rather than a volunteer and she could get off scot free having made the effort like “oh guys haha sure okay someone else can do it” if she can scrape by enough towniness.
