I played this game for the very first time as a mish mash game (run by Xalxe!) and I was absolutely slaughtered because I had the misfortune of becoming the traitor. If you’re a first time player and become the traitor, then you basically are on your own in terms of strategy in addition to being less knowledgeable than everyone else on the rules, mechanics, etc; meanwhile, everyone else is on the same team and can discuss strategy and help each other out. I think this is a hard game to learn in this mode - so it’s definitely tough to play this for the first time as a forum game imo. I hope that doesn’t scare you away because I love this game, but uh… just don’t be like me and assume you can figure out everything on the fly lol.

If everyone is willing, maybe we could just decide now that we won’t make any newbies the traitor their first game?

well, I also had the horrible luck of being a newbie traitor in a secret traitor game lmao

all the suggestions seem reasonable to me, I'm on board with whatever accommodation helps newbies have a better shot at enjoying the game

I thought it should be 8 dice for like three years, and everyone I knew thought it was 8 dice too, until we rechecked the rules. It’s like the mandela effect but with haunt rolls

@csf usually we are trying to like gather items and explore rooms so that when the haunt starts we might already have some of the locations/items we need to complete our objective. Any stat boosts we can get are also good. You usually want to end up close to your teammates and far away from the traitor, but we don’t know who will end up traitor so it’s hard to strategize who to stay close to. In general I try to explore different areas (at least a different floor) than other players since certain room tiles can only be found on certain floors.

I meant if you roll Xd6-X you get 6 dice that roll {1-1,2-1,3-1} i.e. {0,1,2}.

What you are doing is dice that roll {1,2,0}

So the distribution of Xd6 3s are 0s and Xd6-X are the same but you don't have to manually work out the total with the latter

Do you mind very much if we switch to this? It’s just a bit easier mentally than having to pick out the 3’s, and high rolls stay high and low rolls stay low
