Sure, we only have until next Sunday. But electing someone dictator on the basis of...nothing...is pretty retarded.
OK, let's have a dictatorthon then, solving various challenges and puzzles dictators might be confronted with.

How about a cycling dictator system? Rotate dictators for days 1-3, if the dictator doesn't abdicate on mornings two and three, we have a good chance of a successful overthrow with that many players still alive, and on day 3, we'll be able to make a better decision on whether or not we want whoever is dictator at that point to keep the position.

Also I disagree that pushing to get elected is scummy. It's damn near impossible to be proven town on day one in a day start game - it pretty much always takes until at least day two - so it has to be SOMEONE for the game to start.

Are you serious? You think I'm campaigning too hard to be DICTATOR!?!?!

Plus, you agree with OP's post - and his post is a post that says he agrees with my post - so you're thereby agreeing with an idea you say is coming from a scummy player. How's that work?

Yes, I think that's a good idea Cal. I also think the people who want to compete for dictator should post:

compete

so Cal can keep track. And yes, I want to compete.

If elected, I plan to:

1. Free popsicles.
2. Base my executions on a majority vote system, much like a standard game of mafia.
3. Trust no one.

I'd do majority system, yeah, but I wouldn't execute until close to deadline- AKA the person with the most votes at deadline, not whoever reaches majority first. An excellent deal with this system is that it pretty much stops quicklynches.
YES! I CONCUR!
Popsicles would be heavily taxed, but the money would go to paying off our national debt.

DISCLAIMER:

***This is just an idea that spawned in my head after thinking on what Sly said. If it is terribly anti-town or there's some mechanic hole in it, let me know and I will cut my ties with it.***

What if we had the masons (if there are masons) claim - then elected one - then had the dictator kill the other to confirm that they aren't the scum?

Something to think about is that the dictator can pretty much rule the game if we aren't careful. He can end the day 5 minutes after it starts if he wants to.

I also think it is bizarre that Sly would attempt an overthrow this early - especially considering his success rate was 10%. This makes me think he either has a buttload of attempts that he can throw around left and right, or he knows something we don't.

vote: Sly

This rule needs to be paid close attention to. I played in another Machiavellian creation, Mini 697 Prisoner's Dilemma Mafia, and I know that anything should be expected.

If I were dictator, I wouldn't rely on that bulletproof vest to protect me because the mafia could have a 1 shot poison kit or knife specialist attack or something of the sorts. It would not surprise me if they have a secret night overthrow power. I'm not saying anything like this exist for sure, but give 697 a read and you will see why I am thinking along these lines.
If anything this implies knowledge of scum mechanics this game and further incriminates you, not clears you.

2. If another townie shares my concern about Calig's alignment, the odds of overthrow are now greater and get greater with each subsequent attempt.
But the scum's overthrow chance also goes up at the same rate... so realistically all they have to do is bide their time, if everyone thinks this way. Luckily, I don't think everyone does.

I also don't think the day needs to end right now - I think more can be accomplished, so I'd hope Calig doesn't send in the kill order right away. That's the nice thing about having a dictator, we can take as much time as we need.

Well first off, breadcrumbing a role by no means confirms it. But I don't think Sly ought to be lynched at the moment -
unvote
- neither do I think Cali should abdicate to him right now. I want to think about this before the day ends, if you don't mind, Cali.

Yeah, Sly's play seems scum motivated, I just don't get it. If he isn't scum I don't know why he played like crap. Also, who the hell is looking for breadcrumbs at this stage in the game? If you really thought it was going to be so obvious, didn't you figure the scum could just as easily pick up on it too?
