The last 3 pages were such an emotional roller coaster!
I felt so dumb when Farren pointed out I could do TUNNEL 3 and then another hint for straw, and then I was like ughhhh when Farren had nailed 5/6 words but was considering IRON and LINE as the last word.

And then this:

LINE isn't a gimme. Tunnels can be set out in a line, but they aren't always. Plus LINE has casino equity (betting lines, line payouts on a slot machine).

STRAW is another possibility. Like a drinking straw - tunnels and straws are both hollow (always) and rounded (usually).

So, this was a really messy game. I definitely wasn't playing my top spymaster game here. To be truthful, every single clue I've given my team felt like a letdown, and I want to apologize to my team for these horrendous clues.

But I also have to point out that the boardstate I was given felt completely unwinnable, so I think I did pretty well, considering we won.

Anyhow, here's the explanation of the clues:

First clue: I really wanted to do CONCERT - 4 as a clue to opera, stadium, row, ring (with the potential of dance instead of ring). Unfortunately, CONCERT would have been an illegal clue. Then I was thinking about Amphitheater - 4, for the same words, but I figured you guys might want to go for concert and that would suck. So I did Piano - 0, in the hope that it will be interpreted as "CONCERT - unlimited, but you shouldn't pick concert itself". Maybe that was a stretch to imagine you'd get it, but it seems Farren got pretty close in his interpretation, so good job on that.

Second clue: pretty self explanatory. The one clue I didn't feel I fucked up, but also the least exciting clue I've given.

Third clue: I actually didn't intend for you to go for broke and finish the game through fancy. And it wasn't even a clue for strike! Fancy was only a clue for Pants and Dance (with a hint of Opera), but it was unlimited because I wanted to avoid getting into the precise situation I ended up getting into on turn 4 - of having to somehow connect strike with Opera/Row.
Sidenote: I am actually amused that you thought Ship was more fancy than Opera.

Fourth clue: the most obvious clue connecting strike, row, and opera was of course the Colosseum. In 90% of the cases, that would've been the clue I had given. Unfortunately, I saw that you guys were seriously considering Atlantis (which was the asaassin btw) as an option, and after the Ship incident I just couldn't afford use an old ruin representing an ancient, formerly glorious civilization as my clue. So colosseum was out. Next up were Shakespeare/Macbeth/swashbuckling/Romeo, but for all of them I wasn't sure of the connection with strike would be obvious. Quite curious what you guys think.
Then, there was Chord (as in "strike a chord"), but I felt it had more connection to Organ than to Row, and it seemed like you guys were seriously considering Organ as an option despite Piano - 0, so that was ALSO something I felt I couldn't risk.
How did I arrive at Box? First, there's an Opera Box - a small closed off seating area at an opera for the more rich people. This very easily connects to both Opera AND Row (as in seating). Then I thought you'd make the connection to BOXING, a sport where two competitors attempt to STRIKE each other with their fists.
This didn't have any connection to Atlantis, flying, or Organ, so I picked it despite being quite a hard clue. And it worked!

I think it's pretty obvious that CIRCLE and DEGREE are both ours. But what about the third one?

I am personally not seeing anything else that has even mediocre connection to RADIAN. Like I can see weak links to Fence, Belt, Space, Drill and Needle (in about that order), but they are so weak I don't feel I can even explain them, and I'm sure our spymaster could think of a better clue to link to them if they were the intended target.

So that makes me ask, "why radian?"
And my answer is probably the best clue would've been either degree or circle, but the spymaster can't use that. So if we assume the spymaster wanted us to interpret it as "circle - 3", then I think it's CIRCLE, DEGREE, and PLATE.

Drill - practicing for your role.
Capital - prepare to hear how un-American I am:
I believe Broadway is in NYC which while isn't the capital of anything, un-American people could accidentally think is the capital of USA? And I might be completely wrong about the location though. Also it's like the capital of theatre or smth.
China - China and Broadway are two toponyms (names of places) associated with culture.
