Rules
Adapted from Alianna's Ruleset.
General
1. Please abide by all site rules.
2. Toxic and harmful behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- flaming, insulting, or directing personal attacks at other players
- use of slurs or derogatory language
- spamming
- excessive AtE
- excessive discussion of real life issues (a mention is fine, but this is not a place to vent or to go into detail)
- otherwise being a jerk or making the game unenjoyable for others
3. Play to your win condition.
4. If you wish to replace out, request replacement via PM. Do not discuss replacing out in thread or suggest that another player replace out.
5. Once you request replacement or I notify you that you are being replaced, it is final. You cease to be a player in the game and may no longer post. You may not replace back into your slot.
6. After your death is announced in the game thread, you may no longer post in the game thread or any associated PTs other than the spectator PT.
7. Do not discuss this game outside of the game thread and associated PTs, and do not discuss other ongoing games in this game.
8. Do not take any action that attempts to prove the existence of private game communications. You are allowed to claim that these communications exist as long as you do not attempt to provide evidence. Private communications include:
- your role PM
- other communications with the moderator
- posts from any game-related PT
9. Do not engage in the use of trust tells.
10. Do not use provable randomness. Claiming to have rolled a die, for example, is fine; using dice tags is not.
11. Do not use cryptography, invisible text, or text under size 75. Breadcrumbing is fine.
12. If you have the power to edit or delete posts, refrain from using it.
13. My mod colour is
#FF8000
. My backup mod's colour is
#00BF80
. You can use them as long as you aren't trying to impersonate us.
14. In the past, the word "lynch" referred to the town's elimination method. Due to the racially charged history of lynchings in the USA, Mafiascum no longer allows this word to be used. Alternatives include:
- eliminate and its derivatives
- execute
- condemn
- fade
- vote off
- YEET
- anything else that gets the point across
15. Please be mindful of other users' preferred pronouns and do your best not to misgender others. If you don't know someone's pronouns, it is best to use "they."
16. Pretending to break a rule or attempting to provoke someone into breaking a rule is itself a violation of the rules.
17. Moderation actions will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the individual circumstances. Player alignment, of course, will not be a factor.
18. If you have concerns that moderator action is needed somewhere or that I have made a mistake (excluding minor errors like VC mistakes), please contact me via PM.
19. I reserve the right to alter the ruleset. Any rules changes will be announced in the game thread.
Activity
20. At minimum, you must post in the game thread once every 48 hours. If you fail to do so, you will be prodded.
21. You must pick up your prod within 24 hours or be replaced. Prod Dodges, which provide no game advancing content will not count as you picking up your prod. Even a simple "I think Thomith is Town/Mafia" is adequate.
22. If you accumulate 3 prods, you will be replaced.
23. If you are going to be absent for longer than 48 hours, please declare V/LA in thread or by PM. Players on V/LA will not be prodded.
24. Any player who does not post anything game-relevant for 5 days will be replaced. This rule applies regardless of V/LA status. If you foresee that this will be the case for you, please request replacement.
Deadlines
25. Day One has a 10-day deadline. All subsequent Days have an 8-day deadline. Nights have a 2-day deadline.
26. Deadline extensions may be granted in special circumstances. Requests for extensions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
27. Fast night is available if all living players, including those without night actions, request it.
Voting and Execution
28. Votes and unvotes must be bolded in the format
VOTE: Player
or in vote/unvote tags (VOTE: Player), and should preferably be on a separate line in your post. Vote/unvote tags are preferred.
29. I will not count votes that are:
- unclear
- improperly formatted
- in spoilers or obviously broken quotes
-
struck through
or purposely obfuscated in any other way
30. An execution occurs when a majority (>50%) of players vote to execute someone. If no majority is reached by the deadline, no one will be executed.
31. You may vote not to execute anyone (VOTE: No Execution). If the number of living players is even, only 50% of players must agree to secure a no-execution.
32. Once the hammer vote is cast, the day’s fate is sealed. Discussion may continue into the twilight, but no further votes or unvotes will be counted.
Private Topics
34. If you would like a notes PT, you may request one. You can state that you have a notes PT, but you may not attempt to use it to prove you are working from a town mindset (real or fabricated).
35. All PTs shared by two or more players will be released 24 hours after the game ends. Any redactions should be requested within this time frame. If you have a notes PT, it is up to you what you would like to do with it, and you will have the moderator privileges to do it yourself.

All Role PM's have now been sent out. The game will begin when 8 players have confirmed. All players have (expired on 2024-03-04 05:32:14) to confirm their role, otherwise they will be replaced.
Currently 9/9 players have confirmed.

gob is being force replaced for breaching rules 2 and 3 on multiple occasions.
This is a final reminder to all players regarding rules 2, 3 and 16:

Throwing the game is a clear breach of rule 3. Per rule 16, threatening to break a rule will have the same consequences as breaking the rule itself.
To make it abundantly clear, threatening to throw the game for any reason will not be tolerated.

This is a final warning to Solon against using moderator decisions to try and speculate around alignments of other players. Per rule 17 moderator actions do not take alignments into account. gob threatened to throw the game, while Not_Mafia has not and has not breached any rules so far.
So ultimately I was right about the Gob slot being town and the Not_Mafia slot being scum. Of course the mod cannot admit to it, but surely as town Not_Mafia would have been force-replaced for playing against his win condition, otherwise the game is broken.
It's a shame the mod had to threaten me in such a manner, for only playing the game and drawing logical conclusions based on the moderator's own actions. It has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
I actually think, to avoid this situation, slots like Not_Mafia should be force-replaced no matter the alignment, so we don't have to double-guess such game-throwing behaviour. Even though he flipped scum, it has killed my enthusiasm to play Mafia.
I make the exact same actions if N_M and gobs alignment were flipped.
I also reached out for guidance before taking action immediately before, and after people kept raising concerns over N_M's play.
I will concede the warning should have been sent in private rather than publicly, so i do apologise for that.
