I submitted Audrey Hepburn. As much as we all love MeMe, I think Audrey takes that one. 0:)

Ah, the eternal struggle of the tortoise and the hare.

Turtles are hard and dry and they hide a lot. Bunnies win by a landslide.

You can guess which one is mine because it's the one that's not controversial.

With that being said... Rajrhcpfreak you've got to choose from these after everyone has had their say:

Harry Potter
Satan
George W. Bush
Gratuitous Sex and Violence
Breaking all ten commandments at the same time
Jason Bourne
Picked Last for the baseball team
The Price for European Coffee
Neo-Nazis
Steak (sorry forgot that one)

Let the discussion begin....and bon chance mon amis!
You know, rajrhcpfreak, it would be quite controversial if you thought "Jason Bourne" was more controversial than any of the things that are actually controversial. Choose it for the spirit of the adjective. Forget the rules.

I think three of those nouns are ones that I submitted.

And depending on who you ask, the first noun and the second noun are the same thing. If you ask someone else, the second and the third are the same thing. I happen to exchange steak for European Coffee all the time, so I believe that the third last and final nouns are the exact same thing.

When I think controversy, I don't think necessarily "something bad." Controversy has to have two sides on it. It's hard to be more controversial than George W. Bush. There's not much contrvoersy around neo-nazis. Everyone thinks they're assholes. Gratuitous sex and violence is more controversial, because people disagree about what is gratuitous. Breaking all the commandments isn't going to be controversial; it's going to be condemned.

vote: George W. Bush

Not too many good choices this round... okay, misunderstood...

wheelchairs - what's not to understand? People who can't walk use them to get wheeled around.
eraser - I can see where the person is coming from on this one. If you erase a lot of words, you can make something pretty hard to understand.
Computer - Maybe if we're all 70 years old, it's going to be tough to understand computers. But not for us.
toothbrush - I don't understand why someone would choose "toothbrush" for "misunderstood," so that's something.
telephone - Definitely more understandable than computers.
science - I imagine that everyone in the world doesn't understand SOMETHING in science. Even the most educated people don't understand some part of someone else's field.
Foreign Films - As it has been mentioned, these often have subtitles. Even so, if you have to watch these for class or with a nerdy girlfriend, you might not know what's going on.
Eminem - He's pretty understandable.
The Minnesota Twins - I don't know enough about the Twins to comment.
Picking your nose - Picking your nose is a lot of things, but I don't think it's misunderstood.

I'd go with science or foreign films.

Pencil - there is nothing excruciating about a pencil.

Pronouns - what's so excruciating about pronouns? Pronouns make things easier, so I can say "I" or "me" instead of "Commodore Amazing" all the time. And there aren't even that many to remember!

Cher - if you're not a fan, listening to her could be excruciating.

Cars and Laptops - Technology makes life easier, except when it breaks down and frustrates us. I would say this is more ture for cars than for laptops. Having a laptop break down is an excuse not to do any work; having a car break down can leave you stranded somewhere dangerous.

Kentucky - Seems like a nice place... ?

Tony Soprano - Don't know enough to comment.

1985 - I was very very young. All I remember from this year are Madballs. Those weren't all that excruciating.

Survivor - This game is very intense. Challenges can get very excruciating. This is my vote.

Mafia - A pretty good answer; especially when you know who's scum, but you can't convince anyone.
