I'd like to second (preview edit, damn you MPR )for "Paperback Writer" Nik and DTM's Kingdom of Loathing Mafia game.

KOL Mafia

The flavor text for Role PMs and scenes for both Nightfall and Daybreak were well executed and fit the theme of the game to a tee.

Given the relative complexity of Theme's source material the writing was outstanding!

Afaik, MoI isn't a newbie to the game in that he has played elsewhere before, so I'm not really inclined to second that nomination.
If he wants to come in here and refute that, though, I'd be more than happy to slap an Nth on there like herring on rye.

Nik is correct. Before coming here I had almost two years of forums experience (including over 50 games and 4 GM / Backup stints). I know most players have some experience with Mafia before arriving but I don't think including me in a Newb category is appropriate.

Apparently I’ve let it go too long since I last seriously looked at my games for nomination material –

Best Mechanic/Mutation

– Max for Perpetual MYLO Mafia. The set-up encouraged pure scum-hunting and interaction analysis. With a few tweaks I think it could be a very viable Open set-up.

Most Cunning Manipulation

– I’d like to second ReaperCharlie’s nomination. His work in Harry Potter Mafia was a tour-de-force.

Best Role

– Ooba for the Reverse Survivor Mason known as Mr. Nobody in Mad World –Time Travel Mafia. A very innovative role that unfortunately didn’t last long enough.
