Since the judges/nominators aren't required to read all games and agree with all opinions, I don't see what you want us to do about it, ani.

If a performance is impressive, there are AT LEAST 4 other players in every game who can nominate you. I don't think self-noms should be allowed, full-stop (it also makes 'seconding' yourself with an alt even more tempting, and then things just get silly).

Adel wrote:My main objection to self-noms stems from my experience as a scummy judge: there are too damn many nominations for any judge to make a truly informed decision.
That was my experience as well (at least in certain categories). And games were a fair-lot shorter the year I was a judge...

I'm less worried about the 'trading noms' thing, because a) it's going to happen off-site if we forbid it here, and b) it at least requires TWO brains to think the game is worthy, plus the second/third/whatever. Players' self-image is notoriously unreliable.

And yes, I think one year we had a person second their own nom with an alt. Or was that an Open Setup?
I'm getting old...

Max wrote:Can most improved player be backdated more than a year so say I felt that flay had improved since 2006 could I nominate him now?

That's a really bad example (flays always been good) but you get my drift. And if so should I link to an old game and a new one?
I would say yes, even if it wasn't me. ;) Improvement should be shown in the current year, but benchmarking can be from years previous.

Eh. Playing up a safeclaim isn't really what Best Role Claim is about... if anything, it might be Best Individual (Scum) or whatever they're calling it these days.

zoroaster appears to be correct on this one. The award can consider more than one game, but it should be a single nomination.

That's too easy.

I know we're kinda wandering far afield from the purpose of this thread, but try to see things from my perspective.
  1. I'm disgusted that so many things
    didn't
    get done before the transition.
  2. Remember, I may have done a lot in the last month, but much of it should have been handled in the 18 months beforehand. I plain forgot some things, some things didn't work like I expected them to, and my life basically exploded in the months leading up to the move so I couldn't push through a bunch of the last-minute things.
  3. I'm a hack; JEEP's much better at this stuff, but he's not around right now. There are much better PHP coders on the site, several of whom I'm leaning on for getting stuff done. I've just got the access/mith's trust to actually implement it, but half of what you're seeing doesn't come from my brain.
  4. There are lots of other people working hard behind the scenes. Once we get up and running closer to 100%,
    I'll
probably be making some nominations for orange names.
I appreciate the confidence you guys have, I just would feel extremely bizarre about some sort of 'attributed' award.

Since it was apparently not included in this year's first post, it's a waste of time to do anything besides second a nomination. This Nth'ing stuff just wastes time you could be finding other games/players to nominate...

Fates Mafia *looks* like a fluke to me, but it's a short game, so there's little harm in nominating/seconding it. The judges will sort it out later.

You didn't "peg" 3/4 of scum. You named them amongst other players as possible scum, and then happened to lynch one of them, which killed another one. That's somewhat luck; it's somewhat skill too, I'm not saying it isn't. But the game likely wouldn't happen the same way a second time.
