Ridiculous.

- Claiming someone is town without explanation : a classic scum move
- I don't see how someone can not see the benefits of knowing the scum abilities. I'm even pondering a hunt to determine if scum have air base or another scum-like ability, because that would allow us to pseudo-clear people that
don't
have these abilities.

Unvote, Vote: Faraday
I'm town. Please lynch someone else.

Stop using three sentence words, please. And yes, saying "bla is town" is more often heard in scum mouths than in town mouths.
yeah I don't think this'll work out in practise though.
Backpedalling? I thought it was "OMG TOWN IS SO STUPID TO CLAIM THEY DON'T HAVE SUB"

Failing to do so brings up the argument that scum skim because they are already well informed and don't need the little details to get a understanding of a situation.
In my experience, the more complex the mechanics get, the more likely it becomes that somebody didn't read/didn't understand/didn't care about something somewhere. I've never seen it weighted towards scum, either; if anything, I'd assume it's a slight town-tell, since scum both has more incentive to read up early-game as they plan, and has a couple buddies alongside them to clear up the details.

Scummy response. Feeling pressured?

Your first point is silly, claiming town reads at random is a nulltell. Buddiyng is a scumtell, but Faraday's post doesn't really read as such. Also, I'm pretty sure his reasoning is obvious.

As for your second point, the Air Base, unlike the Sub, isn't really that great for town. There's a good chance nobody town even tried to get it, so we wouldn't learn anything, and mechanics discussion would just further slow the thread down away from actual scumhunting.

Convenient how you don't acknowledge the posts on the previous page by Faraday on the previous page Zhero at all and as a result you take Elscouta a bit out of context.

For the scum/town reading the mechanics, it's mafia theory and you can't prove it and reasons for "scum are more likely to do this" are pure speculation. I have seen scum not read the topic and I have seen town not read the topic. It's not exactly a slight towntell at all if you ask me. I view it like the commonly debated issue of "is lurking a scumtell" in newbie games. This isn't related to scumhunting at all the way I see it and isn't justified as a reason to vote or not vote someone.

One positive thing I can see about knowing who has sub is that, later in the game, people may start claiming abilities. We can use this to our advantage to limit down who has sub and then we've got a better chance of lynching correctly. That's the only plus I can see from outing who has sub but a plus is a plus and I'll take what I can get.

Scum doesn't join a game knowing what the rules and mechanics are. They have to read it too. Skimming through the rules is just a foolish thing to do but a null-tell. If I were skimming through something else say, a death scene then that could definately be scummy (since if I were maf I would know what happened since I killed them).

@Faraday- Feel like sharing the reasons for your vote/FoS?

^Not relevant. The point I was trying to make was under some other circumstances skimming through things can be considered scummy but skimming through things such as rules is just a null tell.

We've still got to drop 2 DEFCONs to get to the Nuke-dropping, IIRC.
We either wait 2 weeks to hit DEFCON 2, or we lynch someone to drop to DEFCON 2. :igmeou:

Are you trying to encourage a scumbuddy to nuke me or some idiot town here? :)

And I said Andrius was non scum because...Andrius is non scum obviously! :D Do you mean why is he non scum? Well I think that's rather obvious - his lack of awareness regarding the choices makes him town, as it reads legit. Scum would be aware they could pick from different groupings.

Thanks Faraday. :(
And man, I just saw this Eavesdropper-dealio power in the Passive Powers section that would have been cool to have.

You have been playing the idiot in all your recent posts. Either you are indead a townie wanting to be counterproductive, or a scum trying to give himself a style. I lean towards the second.

And for the record, I maintain that "X is town" is more often heard in scum mouths than in town mouths (especially without explanation).

You want explanation? You got it.

Faraday obviously didn't read the first post extensively. If he did, he'd know that, regardless of alignment, we're all given the same info because all the role pm's are in the first post as well as the faction numbers a.k.a. it's an open setup.
