in the first word, 41 = T (first letter on page 41 is a T), the following number represent the amount of pages forward or backward (bolded) you have to go for the next letter....in the case of the first word...17 pages (bolded) backwards is page 24 of H...

if there is a "b" after the number, it is the last letter at the bottom of the page...
