You guys aren't that different from MTGS. A little better, on average, and less dumb setups that make me cry, but overall wasn't a huge dose of cold water. Of course I've only been there a few months, and scum there are dumber on average. They just have less resources for 'catching scum' and thus less resources for the scum to learn from

Also it's cliquish as hell and the moderators are known to do things like occasionally give their friends the cool PRs or the faction they want, so when that was acceptable, well, that was the end of

Eh I disagree with there not needing to be negative noms. The judges would definitely be able to disagree, which is fine, but you're also creating more work for them by nomming undeserving things. (royal you) Best to separate the chaff from the wheat if at all possible before it goes to the mill, you know.

Well ideally giving the judgesa more condensed workload would be best, but I mean if 3 people nominate something and 3 neg nom it it'll still go through, I suppose it's pointless as much as anything. I mean there are noms I disagree with, but if others thing their worthy go knock themselves out and nominate.

I was nominated for Paragon and Don Corleone last year and not once was I asked to send in games or anything. So either what you just said is total bullshit, or you guys only asked

I mis-remembered it was for the Newbie award we got them to send in samples of their games or at least someone sent us the relevant samples. However this:

I read pretty much every game from every nominee from that year, and based it on their body of work, so don't tell me I didn't. I clearly can't speak for everyone but saying it was judged based on one game isn't true, since off the top of my head I don't think the newbie award would have went that way had it.

And yes it's based on the good and the bad, I remember a certain players poorer games affecting their chances of winning at least.

No, there's no need for two variations on a single person's performance(s). Chances are, someone who is strong enough to be nominated for one game's performance will probably have other games that can earn them a BoW nomination as well.

Yeah, sorry I was a little touchy there It's easy for those with up to date wiki's, obviously. For those without it's a bit of a bitch. Clicking on someone's profile though and you can get a list of topics they posted in and then you can narrow it down to forums and check what games they were in. This is not ideal, and I'd actually prefer if those nominated for body of work awards could actually post their body of work as presumably they'd remember it reasonably easily. This makes a difficult job (judging) slightly easier, as there's enough to do in reading the games.

Edit: not sure if we should have a seperate thred for discussing scummies/possible new scummies/the judging as is though since this should probably be limited to nominations since it's easy to update.

should be more of a Body Of Work award instead of a single game. A Mod can have a great game, and thats great. He could do a really good job, but if he doesn't show that same devotion and care to his other games, it doesn't really make him the Smoothest Operator.

This makes a lot of sense to me -- only concern is that it might stop a mod who only mods once a year winning but I see your overall point actually.

I disagree with this nom. (Ignore any possible butthurt I may be feeling.) Scum were handed the win and were significantly helped by a couple of choice bits of luck. And even when they won it was because of a townsperson blunder.

But opinions are opinions. And they definitely had a great game.

I have confidence warrior won't receive this award this over reck or mith (who actually took time, risk AND constant manipulation over letting the town implode; in reck's case, it was over the course of several months, and shutting down the only person who had an inkling of suspicion on him).
