Mod Thoughts
-

I specifically said that the game was swingy in advertisements and I stand by that. All factions had significant Power but were vulernerable in multiple ways.

That the game went to LYLO I think overall shows that it was balanced.

Fate played a pretty effective game overall. He worked hard (or at least this was my impression) to make sure the Days were short which stymied discussion about the Serial Killer role and allowed him to attack Riceballtail Day 5 on inactivity. Anyone thinking critically about that attack (taking the time to do so) would be easily able to see that the string of 48hour or less days artifically limited the posting some players could make. Fate's biggest mistake was not timely submitting his N3 kill - had he actually sent in the kill on Surye Day 4 would have been a possible Kingmaker Scenario for Town.

The Mafia overall played pretty poorly. Losing Kats Day 1 was very painful and Glass's strong defense of Kats / Chainsaw on several people was obv. NoPoint's 'gambit' Day 4 was horrible exectured since he had access to a Tracker claim and forgot that AGar had claimed the N1 invention. Furthermore he could have killed Fate had he not waited for the deciding hammer from ThAd with the daykill. Being greedy (wanting to save the Daykill for Day 5) cost the Mafia.

Town play was so so. Overall Night actions were used pretty effectively, IMO. LLD's missing the deadline N1 changed the face of the game as AGar would have seen her visit Fate and likely been able to further confirm he was Not Town. RBT and ThAd's play Day 5 was very disappointing. ThAd in particular not bothering to assess anything other than that Fate 'deserved' to win if he was SK bordered on Not Playing to Win in my mind.

I think in the end the faction that played the best (Serial Killer) won, which in general is a pretty good guidline for a fairly well balanced game.

I disagree with those who stated that NoPoint's outing of Fate was poor sportsmanship. He had information that he could use in a quasi-Kingmaker situation and was NOT prevented by the rules as established from using it. In the end it was not any real issue as ThAd didn't bother to pay attention to it anyway.

I'll be happy to discuss any issues the players had with the game.

This was the post that made me decide to give AGar the invention Night 1. He was sticking to his incorrect reads even after Katsuki's hammer. But by Day 3, it wasn't a strong enough town tell to keep me from voting him.

I happen to believe it to be in poor taste as well. The post was when he was hammered, so it wasn't an attempt to do anything regarding his wincon, just to spite another player. Not against the rules, just in poor taste.

Of course not NEARLY as poor taste as Agar's self vote. That was terrible.

I saw this game ended with a SK win and thought. WOW that guy is good. Then I read it was Fate. Why am I not surprised?

Lulz yeah that was a little odd coincidence. :D

You should have seen the Reviewer comments on how unbalancing a Mafia Daykill would be. AGM was absolutely right that scum could cruise to endgame as confirmed Town using one. But that fear pretty much melted away once Storm of Swords ended.

Game was strongly sided against town win. The number of potential deaths on day 1 was 3 (Weak doctor, SK, Mafia). LyLo came a day early. So as early as day 2, it could be:

5:3:1

Assuming a scum lynch, it could become:

2:2:1

At which point scum could daykill for the win.

That's a scum win on day 3 with 1 mislynch.

The town had very little it could do against this. SK was also somewhat boned, but the fact that the mafia played like garbage (I'm not joking about waffling between Glass and NoPoint N1 as to who was scummier) and the fact that Fate played well, combined with ThAd just playing to lose, cost the game.

Once again you focus on the MOST remote possibilities in making your assessment of balance shows you have much to learn Padawan.

If the mafia still had a chance to win, then I would agree with you - outing Fate would have had strategic value, as it would ensure a lynch was spent somewhere OTHER than on scum. (Operating under the assumption that the IC had their original win condition before ReaperCharlie fucked everything up, of course - which was when you made that post).

NoPoint wasn’t freely handed Fate’s Identity. He had to use a NK (which was wasted) to obtain the information. World of difference.

In my defense I didn't know that bulletproof is apparently an automatic scumclaim.

I think power-wise town probably deserved another role so I didn't think it was out of the question at all.

I agreed that my gambit was horribly executed. But I think making moves to dispose of the SK was the right thing to do. I didn't expect ThAd would hammer me right away considering what he had been saying about Fate.
Moreover, the point of being confirmed town is that you get killed by the SK, easily, just like GI and Surye.
@GI: Again, people are not supposed to act townish if they are GF. How right you are just turned to how wrong you are with that kind of hindsight.
