I was also set to Mountain rather than Pacific DST; I corrected and didn't think enough of it to mention it (DST is a worthless thing in the first place, so I just... never mind).

I also use (if that's the proper word) the View Count thing. Not the end of the world if it's not brought back, though.

I want to thank you (again) for everything you've done, and I know these things take time; I'm curious whether you have updated ETAs for these two things:
Mr. Flay wrote:

    Estimated completion: 6/21.

  • mafSepia, mafTigers

    Estimated completion: 6/24?
Thanks again for everything!

In the first post of this game, there are links to player profiles that were formed prior to the migration. They're broken now. (You get that wonderful "a ninja stole this page" 404.)

I mention this here because I haven't seen the profile link bug mentioned and thought it perhaps worthy. If it's something to be fixed instance-by-instance, feel free to ignore.

@Mr. Flay: Two issues.

1) I cannot see a way to delete M=W's recent post. I tried to edit it, thinking there was a Delete button on the Edit screen, but no. (And when I tried to Save Edit with a blank message, I got the "Too Few Characters" error message.)

2) The thread in question was created before the move, and was not updated since the move, and it did not show up in my egosearch; I had to go into MishMash and there it was. Odd.

The weirdest thing -- I posted a test post just now, and it has the delete button; my older (pre-move) posts in that same thread do not. But none of the other posts in that thread have delete buttons, so.

Mr. Flay wrote:Okay, implemented a possible fix for not being able to delete posts in your game threads. Give it a try and see what you discover.
I unlocked the thread and tried to delete M=W's test post; when I clicked the delete button, I get this:
Sorry but you can only delete your own posts.
So, while I have a delete button on every post in that thread [which I started], I can't actually delete any. (In other MishMash threads that I did not start, there is no delete button on each post.)

Also, since the title of the thread is at least partially "wish list":

1) I would like to be able to remove threads from my egosearch. (Likely impossible. But useful for games that one replaces out of and threads that one no longer wishes to read, but once posted in.)

2) It would be über-cool to be able to set thread icons individually. My thinking is that I still read games that I'm dead in, but I want a reminder that I shouldn't post in them. If I could change the thread icon for my own view, this would help. (Also, likely impossible. But isn't that what wishes are for?)

ETA:

3) Will there ever be iso search for the archives?

To the left of the page-number boxes, there is a link that says "Page 13 of 13" -- click that and you get a popup box that allows you to enter a page number to jump to.

Actually, I need to think a bit more about how that would interact with planned expansions for the vote tag.

Also, all you have to do is type their name and hit the button on the editor. Isn't that shorter (unless you're in Quick Reply)?
VOTE: Mr. Flay (I was testing.)

Actually, that's backwards. You have to click the Vote button first, then type the name.

But I never use it, as it's just muscle memory now to type [ b]Vote: xxx[ /b].

Is it just me, or is a post's text blacker (darker, if you will) the first time you see it after you've posted? If not, my eyes are playing serious tricks on me.

Also, when you're in iso, and click to go back to the entire thread, the post you clicked from is darker.

Please tell me I'm not the only one seeing this.

Not sure what you mean by bg 1 and bg2 -- but my second question involves seeing a thread with one player in iso (nothing to do with a reply page) and then clicking an iso post's post# link to go to the post in context. After clicking, the post you clicked form is darker text. I know that's not clear, but it's the best I can get right now.

Well, I'm not quite sure how I've never heard of Firebug, but. Now life will be easier. (I see what you mean by bg1 and bg2, now.)

Can't see a difference in darkened text in the HTML or CSS; I don't have a color-picker (yet; I really should), I'll let you know if I find anything.

Is there any possibility that we could get View Your Posts added to the jump bar (bottom of page)?

I meant actually in the jump thing, but I can see how that may not work with it not being a forum.

Can it be put centered in between the jump bar and "< Return to xxx"? Or perhaps in the footer (probably the wrong term) with Board Index|Subscribe link|Bookmark link ?

And, since I'm probably the only person here that even wants this, feel free to make it low (as in subterranean) priority.

Of note: Today, for the first time (since the move?) I clicked on the unread icon for this thread and it took me to the first unread post rather than the top of the current page.

My apologies, I got threads confused. The thread that was wonky is the Post-conversion FAQ thread (the global announcement thread). This thread never had that problem. (Therefore, the global-sticky thread still has the problem. I just clicked in it, and realized my mistake.)

ETA: Arrgh. The quote above is unclear; I always use the unread icon button; what "for the first time" refers to is the place to which my browser took me, but then, the point is moot now anyway. (I just don't want anyone to think I just discovered the unread icon. I use it constantly.)

Not sure if this is the proper place to ask, but does a Game Mod have the capability to disallow emoticons in a thread?

Also, (and this could be an issue with the browser I'm using here), the Contact icons for each poster have shifted a bit to the right.

I have since learned that this is (somehow) a Private Label version of IE; so that explains that.

And yes, I'm going to be running txtMafia, and it would be useful to turn off emoticons so that they show as

Code: Select all

;)
rather than ;) -- for ease of character-counting, as well as to preserve txt-like flavor for the game. No big deal if it can't easily be done, though.

Mr. Flay wrote:It would be non-trivial, I fear.

As a game mod, you SHOULD be able to edit any posts where people forget and

The bolded part: I'm sure you meant something else, as what I bolded is precisely what I want.

But since it's non-trivial, it's moot. I'll just work around it.

I think DST broke my settings. Testing time on this post.

EDIT: It seems okay now; I only noticed it due to "sent" times on Role PMs.

(For those having issues: In Board Preferences, there's a button to enable/disable DST. It's handled differently on other BB systems, and I think this way is clunky but
I am grateful to mith for everything he has given us.)

Probably. Got an example somewhere else of the syntax?

I....uhhhh, no.

There's a syntax?

If you can show me what the syntax for the AIM button or the MSN button is, I could probably work up something for Skype. (I'm nothing if not optimistic.)

This should be fixed now (it's a core function, not a theme, so it should be sitewide).

Bizarre. Clicking on the ellipsis for this thread (phpBB wish list thread) in my egosearch gives me the window, but choosing page 3 returns this page of search results.
I have no idea what that is.
It's page three of my egosearch.

So, I'm back again, asking for things that I think would be neat, but probably no one else cares about.

I think it would be really useful if we could (in iso view) have, next to the Real#, the total number of posts in the thread. 'Twould be a simple way to see, at a glance, how many posts have elapsed since a particular players last post. (Obviously, I only see the utility of this in the last isopost, but I imagine it's simpler to code it into every iso-post rather than only the final one). This came to me when I realized that I'm always going from iso-view to thread-view to find out how many posts since a given player's last.

Of course, not at all urgent, but it would make me happy (and save a handful of pageviews).

Anyone else?

I was thinking of the following:

{graphic read|unread} Post #xx Real # yy of #zz {Total} » Mon Jul 11, 2011 hh:mm pm

The word 'Total' would be optional. It's just adding the display of the total number of threadposts on that same line that the RealPost# variable was added.

Make sense?

(Also, Flay, I'm not talking about length of time between a player's last post and the last threadpost, I'm talking number of posts. Subtle difference, and useful.)

No, that shows the total iso posts. I want the total threadposts, alongside the total isoposts. (Besides, that total of isoposts is at the top of the page, and the last isopost is always at the bottom. I'm lazy, shoot me.)

But it's USELESS on Activity Overview.

Kison gets it. (Well, Flay gets it, too, but won't give it to me. :P )

Unsure if this is a new broken thing, or if I'm just inattentive.

I've seen several instances of emoticons in quoted messages that are not showing as emoticons, but : igmeou : (no spaces, obv). It's only happening in my PMs, not threads.

Has it always been this way?

As I've mentioned, it doesn't happen in threads; only in PMs.

(Ninjaedit: Are PMs 'forums'?)

But never mind.

Poro, a post is a post is a post; whether you link to it as an iso or a standard post, you're linking
to the same post.

(Is this the proper place to report new issues?)

From my Subscriptions page, I click on the 'New Posts' icon for the Impostor Alts thread (which is a Global Announcement) and I get the following:

The requested topic does not exist.

but if I click the New Posts icon from any normal place (forum page), it takes me to the top of the latest page (normal for a GA thread).

I'm thinking that Mods should be able to set players in their games to V/LA if the players either don't know about it or aren't able to. It could also be the control freak in me coming out.

It's probably a Very Bad Idea.

I see in the first post that scuMobile and mafTigers have the same priority, yet we have one and not the other.

Any news on my favorite skin?

Did you mean Art Group, or Coding and Design? I would think a skin would be in the latter group, but what do I know.

Wish list: Any chance at all of making the reply window bigger, or perhaps individually adjustable?

Both. I primarily use FF (no handle there) but I just checked Chrome and there is a handle for stretching; but I hate Chrome. Too memory-intensive for me.

Is this still the right place for random wishing?

I wish individual game-thread posts could be labeled with something to indicate which game day they fall into. Would be Very Helpful when isoing over a multi-day game. (Especially if you've replaced in and don't have early-game interaction.)
