I'm still planning on going to the villa -- I know Mina has a lot of thought she wants to post, we discussed a fair bit last night but I'm going to let her post them since most of the strategy is all on her.

BTW if you're planning on coming to the villa make sure we can all try and get together at a convenient time for all of us and do stuff in 'almost real time'; it's totally awesome for scumhunting and something that needs to be utilised. I don't think that'll be a problem though for me since I'm Europe and kinda in the middle.

I've only skimmed the thread so far, and won't subject you to yet

longwinded post about the pros and cons of each move. Also, it's too early to declare anyone a protown leader to be sent to X room. And hito already preempted me to saying that we should treat this as a game with ten-day deadlines. But just one bit of strategy that's absolutely crucial:

2) CLAIM EACH AND EVERY SINGLE MOVE YOU MAKE THIS GAME.

No ifs, ands, or buts. No "LOL I LIED ABOUT MY MOVE AS A COMPLICATED GAMBIT" (looking at you, Fate), because we need to know 100% that the evidence is trustworthy. You can wait until after the round to claim it, but claim your moves.

We will be privately keeping notes of all claims throughout the game, and I'd suggest other people to do the same. Any unclaimed move for any round by will be automatically assumed to be performed by scum, but even that cuts both ways.

It might be possible to catch people in contradictions and narrow down the players who could have possibly accomplished a move that fucks with the town later on.

I've been crossposted by a million posts now, so I'll get to them in a bit. (Although, um, guys, you realize that Secluded Villa--while fun--is not the most useful room in the game, right? Ooh, you get to chat with a player like Andrius who's already painfully easy to read in the main thread! )

My burn all the chips idea wasn't good though because we need spare chips to force through things we want to happen when scum does inevitably interfere.

I have some reasonably strong town reads already, what about allowing those some wiggle room but letting other people burn their chits? I.e. if we keep a large enough of people with wiggle room we can offset the scums plans. I suppose it depends on people co-operating.

Reck: just read the thread. basically we're probably going to be claiming what actions we're taking as it prevents scum from fucking shit up.

think about it a little, it's good to put 3 people who can read each other in there. that's why I'm suggesting we can rotate who's in the villa with groups of people who are good at reading each other; like I'd trust you/fate/elli to get good reads in a qt, i'll have andy and hito read in the qt. do you not think people you know well can be easier to read in a qt? there are also other advantages if you trust the people.

We should be moving the person we want to be on Move Checker later in the game onto War Room now so they can pick up a lot of saved chits to use in the future. I still want Llarmable to go to the security room and I'd be happy with Feysal going to the War Room. On that note, Hito, Llarmable, Maruchan and Klazam are sure-fire town. Jesus, I'm gone for a few hours and come back to pages. Quick thoughts:

- I have no problem with Maruchan moving to door control and staying there.

- I see the value in trios of people who can read each other well being in the Villa, but I can also see how three people who know each other so well could easily use the Villa to pull the wool over the eyes of others.

- If we're going for being purely open, Fate's typical gambits need to be put on hold as we can pretty much break the game using nongambits. Feel free to gambit, Fate, but if you do then you're pretty much resigning to an automatic lynch. Lynch all liars has neve been more appropriate.

- hitogoroshi is town as fuck.

- Regarding "rocking in QTs", I think Team Mafia proves Fate & I can handle ourselves quite well in a private QT.

- I'm starting to go braindead from the planning and stuff. I'm NOT good with statistics or probabilities or putting plans into motion and perhaps I don't QUITE grasp the intricate details of what we're trying to set up, so I think it's better I sit back and try and see who I agree with on a fundamental level. Like, I'm skipping over Regfan's #153 entirely because it all looks like gibberish.

1) Regfan, why did you send Llama to War Room? I thought the plan was to put someone in the Security Room. We definitely need one person in the Security Room. (Furthermore, I don't have a strong enough town read on Llama to want someone to waste chits on giving him an EXTRA chit. I liked his strategy talk, but his reads since the game has started have been iffy.)

I'm not fully caught up, have to leave for work in five hours, and was supposed to be the head who did nothing but help with strategy for the first week. But Faraday is being emo right now, so I have to do this because he's apparently too terrible at Mafia to post reads in a game or something.

Actually, I kind of agree with you. Faraday didn't like her calling us town immediately, and found some of her questioning of xRECKONERx awkward. And I was willing to defer to his judgment because he'd nailed LLD right out the gates in DEFCON 3.0. But I'm looking at her now and kind of scratching my head at why our vote is still on her. Aside from all the hints about doors, she's pretty aggressive and dogged in how she questions her suspects, which I see as town-motivated. Although I don't always like her reasoning, she at least looks like she's trying to figure stuff out.

So after some discussion, I've persuaded Faraday to move our vote.

Partly the same "discrediting Maruchan" case that was already mentioned (particularly since I think he latched onto a point Feysal had made immediately before), and partly because his posting has felt really oily. Maybe it's just that it sets me on edge whenever anyone repeatedly addresses the town as "we," as in "We as a town clearly must lynch this player." It often comes across as pompous or trying too hard to include oneself in the group.

...that said, fuck. The more I read iam's third post, the more I get the opposite impression hito did, and think it's kind of townish (albeit at a player who's always easy to make a case on). Hang on. I'll wait for Faraday to wake up and see what he thinks, because we finally agreed on iam.

I want tclawren to claim as quickly as possible what move he submitted before I come to a final decision. (Seriously, you'd better claim long before the end of Round 3.)

I'm pretty much in agreement with Faraday's town reads: Maruchan and hitogoroshi are close to confirmed, Andrius and to a lesser extent Feysal are also obvious (had some paranoia of Feysal for relying so much on set-up speculation until his explanation for why he wanted). Leaning town on Klazam because his posting feels very ingenuous, and feeling somewhat better about Llamarble.* I've skimmed all the Regfan-Magua bickering, but Faraday got a townish impression on Regfan from it. Likewise, I'll take Faraday's word that NS is probably town, because I have no clue how to read him. I haven't read Plum's wall yet, but Faraday said he got slight meta town tells from it.

We're also in agreement that Reck or Amrun would be good votes (although I have to admit that I haven't read the latter carefully enough, and am too tired to do so tonight). Baby Spice could hang, too, based on terrible reads and half-assed scumhunting (I know she posted lots of weak set-up speculation as scum early on in SAIII and DEFCON 2.0 so as to gain town cred), but I've never actually seen her as town, so no clue if this kind of play is alignment-neutral.

I know I'm leaving people out, but it's late.

*Llama's paranoia of the neighbours looks pretty genuine--except believe me, hito and Andrius are town. hito in particular I'd bet the game on at this point. (I mean, come on, all the "We should do these actions so we can read each other better" are dead giveaways. hito's not at all confident in his ability to be read as town when he's scum.) They moved from null to a weak town-read but Post #558 is almost the exact wavelength that I'm on right now and I'm happy enough to defer trying to read into them too much until I hear Hito and Andrius's thoughts on them when they enter the Villa.

i don't really think andrius or hito are anymore likely to read me correctly, maybe Mina in hito's case but i know mina's meta well enough to get her to 'drop' town tells if we happened to draw scum

i also don't think we'd have posted a dramatically different list as scum anyway -- one of my strengths is being accurately able to judge who looks townish even as scum so we'd not post some garbage list that looked off.

In general, "X and Y have different alignments" is pretty much always a bullshit statement unless there's conflicting role stuff going on. I have no time until at least Wednesday or Thursday to contribute, and I'm posting from my phone now. But the short version: we made an uninsured move on Maru to the Secluded Villa (so we have three chits left now). We wanted to test if tc would spend two chits on a completely unverifiable move, or if he'd try to pocket the chits so he could use them to invoke later mayhem.

I'm expecting scum this game to pull something similar to Communing to justify extra inanities in Stars Aligned III. When I saw tc's volunteering to waste chits on a non-move, I was immediately skeptical.

However, we fucked up the execution horribly. I had to start work, and Faraday sent in the move immediately after we came up with it. (We kind of misunderstood each other, because I'd assumed it was obvious we'd only move Maru after a move plan was 100% finalized, or if not, Faraday should at least push for SOMEONE to keep Maru in place so we could test him/her, but I was in a rush and pretty much went, "Yeah, whatever," when Faraday asked my permission to send the PM.)

And then Feysal posted in the thread telling tc not to send in the move, and tc disappeared without confirming either way what he'd done--cue me hyperventilating. And now it turns out he had no Internet. So basically, this whole thing was an antitown waste of chits that told us nothing about tc's alignment, and now we've thrown away a gambit that could have caught or cleared multiple players. (Onthe bright side, had tc submitted a move to the Door Control (and not a non-move), apparently our move would've trumped it anyway, completely counterintuitively; good thing tc claimed not to have sent one in). So...sorry, everyone.
