I didn't read the whole thing, but when I mod I do use excel.
But I don't spend that much time on a set-up. Though probably when I get more set-ups I want to do, and there would be more time to perfect the set-ups, I'll start taking longer. Also, I'm working on a theme game for the future, so this will probably help for this.
