2- Same reason, but in reverse. If there are only 4 of you then you only have 1 scum in the PT. If you have like 6 you may have 2 or even 3 (of different factions though). It would make it easier for me to pick the odd one out if there were only 4 of you than it would be to pick the 2/3 out of 6/7/8 (although I feel like I'm stretching it with 8 in one PT I think there should be 4-6 in there).

I think the point is that we have various groups whose alignment may be one way or another. As Mastin mentioned there would be players who share flavor similarities that may not actually want what you want. Out of curiosity, when all of you were given your Role PMs did any of them include "Town?" What I'm wanting to understand is if there's even a general "Town" in this game, or if it's just multiple competing/aligned groups and subgroups and 1-2 evil groups AMONG them.

My theory is that there is no "Town."

As Mastin pointed out there are multiple groups broken down along nation, location, and race. He said you can't base alignment on flavor.

Throw out the notion that being Human = not being Scum. There is no Town: just differing factions that may be aligned or at war with one another.

We shouldn't be thinking of this game in a strictly Town vs Scum mindset, because there is no Town in this game. You can be part of a tribe, a nation, or a location but that doesn't necessarily mean you're aligned. I'm guessing the Scum faction(s) would know who each other are (informed minority), and may be able to communicate in private.

So as I thought it doesn't have the word 'Town' in the Role PMs, but it's presumed to be Town.

In that case these groups serve as multiple 'Towns,' with different connections.
