trivia

There are two rival theories on how the great ridge formed. One suggests that a second mighty river rivaling or even exceeding that of the divitias once flowed from the great lake down to the oceans. This theory would explain why the land is not entirely devoid of life, and why reservoirs of water can still be located in the otherwise-hostile climate.

The second theory posits that the great ridge was formed by a shift in the ground. (On earth, this would be thought of as tectonic shifts.) This event, or possibly events, the theory goes, was a massive, world-changing event that shifted the way the climate of Agnigi works. (This same theory posits that the land pushed upward in the northwest, creating the erimos range.) This theory also supports why life seems to have once been easier in the now-desert lands.

Some even believe the two theories are not mutually exclusive, and that the truth would be somewhere in-between. The world may never know, especially as such scientific pursuits are largely irrelevant in the world of Gistou.
