Woo I'm caught up again. Would like to be more thorough but I've got stuff to do and wanted to just give my thoughts as some things develop so far.
So my understanding is that we're not doing total war now, as

everyone

need to agree to Total War for it to happen.
I think RC's analysis has been good, though LLD is right it's possible they're just trying to look useful? I'm certainly not pinged by it though. And I would like Magna to respond to the point RC made that Magna was town and against Total War last game and clearly for it this game; that was an interesting catch which warrants explanation.

Only person to ping me so far is Recks. Just the way they outted their reads; it seems very flimsy and my gut read is scum trying to ensure they've got their bases covered wrt early contribution. Definitely not a strong inclination, just where I'm thinking rn.

Since we'll be moving into DEFCON 4 once everyone has checked in, I'll just say this now.

I'm going to be putting "Counterintelligence" as my #1 choice.

If I get it, I'll absolutely claim that I did right away. If I don't get it, hopefully either some other townie will claim it (it'd be nice if you'd put forward your intention to put it as your #1 pick in advance as well) and barring that, we can assume scum have it. Even though there's a decent likelihood it won't make a difference even in scums hands for all sorts of potential reasons, I think the value of having Counterintelligence be a completely known factor and out of play is high enough that I'd be willing to personally sacrifice my nukes for it.

Hopefully this was articulate and not just ranty and bad. I'm trying to keep from spamming this game but I'm not used to making big singular posts condescending all my thoughts at once. Much more of a "stream of conscious" kind of player usually.

Organizing a town bloc TWO DAYS before dayvigs benefits scum. In fact, believe it or not, organization in general benefits scum. It allows scum to easily sheep better without looking suspicious, as well as allow them to play in a much more lax manner because they can get away with much more.

Also you have started reaching OMGUS territory (especially indicated by your pointing out my sig and relating it to VIs) so I'm going to start ignoring almost everything you say till a much later point in the game when you feel like starting to be relevant to the game.

Few notes:

- I don't think Accountant should be in tier 1. I think that their first half (or 2/3) posts were by far and away their better posts. Maybe they are getting lax or lazy.
- Zito had a few early glimpses of towntells in their posts, but their posts on a whole have been much more fluff than I would like. I don't think I can confidently keep them in tier 2.
- UT and Mcmenno slots need to stop being useless and basically do anything so I can get a better grasp on them. Fate to a lesser extent.
- Spiffeh's latter posts have been much better, but he had some redflags early on in his posts (calling for townbloc early whiteknighting, weird early town read on RC)
- The more I think about it, the more Nahdia's post of "I'm going for counterintelligence" I can see coming from scum who have discussed the plan to try and get an important role that way. She has few "passionate" posts, which I usually townread.
- Ircher's GIF townread is extremely bad. Same with some of his other reads to a lesser extent.
- Mastina has some huge towntells in her posts, namely:

Nope, I really like Greyice's interaction with me, I felt like he was focusing on stuff in a town mindset, both trying to figure out my reasoning for Something Special read while also trying to figure out my alignment. GIF on the other hand I have a scumread on partially because his interaction about the same topic seemed more of him trying to defend his Something Special read without trying to see where I'm coming from with my townread.

Hiplop had a few "passionate" posts. As I said I tend to townread those. Obviously scum can fake those well, but for the time being he's done nothing for me to really scum read him on, and his posts feel really genuine.

EP's had some good analysis. The strongest part of her post is her calling out Ircher on his bullshit GIF read.

Organizing a town bloc TWO DAYS before dayvigs benefits scum. In fact, believe it or not, organization in general benefits scum. It allows scum to easily sheep better without looking suspicious, as well as allow them to play in a much more lax manner because they can get away with much more.

I never implied that I wouldn't be open to reevaluating or that a "bloc" wasn't fluid as the game progressed.

I feel like you keep harping on the same points that no longer apply? I don't understand how you're missing the benefit there is in setting aside universally town read players and promising consequences to anyone that nukes them. It forces scum to nuke within a smaller group (which is harder to justify when your options are limited) that would hopefully contain their buddies and allows for easier PoE in the late game.

I would bet that some players didn't wanna battle it out with the million people who put doc or cop or private vig first, but just wanted to be roled. So they don't necessarily value it highly themselves. At one point though you gotta take into question how valuable dayvig is while making your choices, so I am quite surprised some people decided to go for garbage (at least personally speaking) roles compared to dayvig.

If I was scum (and even as a townie) I prioritize dayvig very highly. The reasons are different obv, but having the ability to kill someone you have a strong suspicion on, or just cutting some of the townies from the game as scum via daykills, is pretty huge.

I barely looked at Defcon 4, but from what I did see Regfan (who was scum) dayvigged magua (town), then put in something like "oops, at least I took out a troll ". I obv don't know the circumstances, but cutting the townie list always seems like a good idea for scum.
