That was pretty good. But did anyone else have a problem with the commercials being 235897u239587u23 times louder than the show? Almost made my eardrums explode.-

HI I WATCHED SEASON 4 OVER TWO DAYS AMA
but don't people usually say this is a bad season? I figured it was because it got boring but I found it to be much the opposite, because the hijinks got so wacky and esoteric and high-concept that it was incredibly great at times. There will be no kisses tonight
There will be no holding hands tonight
'Cause what is now wasn't there before and should not be-

Me either. It is like they have a completely different show in the time slot at this point.Official Gimmick List:

Reviving cause it's on Netflix now
Season 4 was better than I remember. Season 5, Episode 1 resonates with me like crazy cause it feels like where I am now... I had a whole bunch of success, the future looked bright, and then a year later and I've moved backwards.
This show taught me everything about storytelling, I use Dan Harmon's story circle with everything I write, including my musical I put up. Rewatching it makes me remember who I was and I donno it just feels like I'm slowly getting back on track.
I know it's a weird time cause of the quarantine but this show is just... so amazing. It's like I'm getting to see old friends again. And I never watched all of season 6 (I quit after the dog got a degree but I heard the rest was good).
Anyways... I love this show so much and I hope they get the movie from it going to Netflix. Although getting Donald Glover would be... difficult. Everyone has had so much success beyond Community, it was such a fucking star studded cast.@thesupertriomusical on Instagram, come see it if you’re in LA area, I wrote it!-

I'm watching it backwards, season 6 was definitely not as good as the earlier seasons but it still has some amazing things in there. Frankie is a great character but the problem is with Shirley, Troy (and to a lesser extent Pierce) gone it just lacked a bit of oomph. The other thing that became apparent was that Jeff and Abed were the only 2 characters to really remain three dimensional characters. That might be a bit harsh - but Britta especially got short-changed in the last season (and season 5 actually) but Annie and the Dean feel like sketches of their previous selves. Which seems odd because even in season 5 all the characters remained fully formed (except Britta). It kind of felt they ran out of stories to tell. Also I hate Garrett.
Don't get me wrong though, that season finale holds up, and a lot of the episodes were better than I remember plus it did give me one of my favourite moments in this (reminds me of a rant I've wanted to have in a few games) -
Season 5 is a lot better. Especially since they were going through a lot of upheaval, but I think they got through DG leaving okay and managed to get good replacements in Buzz and Ian Duncan. Chang doesn't stick out as much in this series and it's fun. I do forget how much I dislike Abed post-Troy this season though. Im also not quite finished the season.
Not looking forward to season 4, although I have 2 episodes I remember absolutely despising and only 1 of them was in season 4. (The convention episode) The other one was the lookalike episode in season 3 (I think). Maybe Im just indifferent to a lot of it, I don't know, but I can't remember much of it.Mostly retired. Unless you ask or it's something interesting.-

Still never seen Season 6, I'm going forward. Started at midway through 3 (cause I've seen everything previous at least 6 times each) and now I'm midway through 5.
4 was not as bad as I remember. Like definitely had some super off moments. Like, one moment that super stuck out as wrong was Professor English-History-Man is like "My name is Blablabla, and I know what you're thinking, I am related to Charles Buckingham Blablabla" and then instead of doing the normal Community *confused reaction face*, Troy turns to the class and goes "was anyone thinking that?" It was a very Big Bang Theory moment, like the joke was being explained when we already got it.
The Troy/Britta was also handled better than I recall.
Season 5 is better than I remember, I just wish they hadn't kind of abandoned all arcs for their female characters. It's kind of just the Jeff and Annie show, with Britta being this tool to get people to address their emotions. It's really good and feels like Season 3. Not a huge fan of Buzz, but I'm still in the first half. I think honestly the thing that makes this season feel off is the lack of Pierce, I think it just really fucks with the dynamic. And they could have given his role in the group to Chang, but Chang sort of takes on this other role. Idk. Watching it still. Troy just left, sad times. This is the point where Dan Harmon says Community died ftr.@thesupertriomusical on Instagram, come see it if you’re in LA area, I wrote it!-

I've been watching the odd clip of Britta in seasons 1 and 2 and they made her nuanced and quite an interesting character, but certainly in the latter seasons and I think even early as season 3 they decided that she should just be an airhead, which would be fine on any other show but they had put a lot of work into making her an intelligent character with principles and as a foil to Jeff, and I understand that having a perennial buzzkill around doesn't really work but they got to a sweet spot with her and kept driving straight past it into constantly goofy territory and it sucks. I mean even during the show I always felt they didn't give Shirley enough to do, but what they did to Britta was worse in that they assassinated her character.
Also, so much for not sexualising Annie. That GI Joe episode...Mostly retired. Unless you ask or it's something interesting.-

I think it was changed to play to Gillian Jacob's strengths, I think she's a very goofy actor and they felt limited in using that by having her in her foil role.
I don't disagree though. I have yet to see her character grow in Season 5.
And the absolute lack of Shirley story-lines in these later seasons is criminal, agreed.@thesupertriomusical on Instagram, come see it if you’re in LA area, I wrote it!
