So here's what we have.

We must plant cauliflowers. We must hunt down Haley and give her a gold daffodil for her birthday.
Lacking anything else, we should attempt to get ourselves closer to:
- Being able to buy a Coop / upgrade the house;
- gaining access to iron ore.

We need wood and cash to do either of the first two. Progress in the mines *today* would probably be limited on account of bad luck AND needing to go hunt Haley down at some point. So I think based on that we're going to go with my first plan. That gets us wood for the coop / house, and also starts getting us copper bars, which we can use to upgrade the pickaxe later, which will speed up both progressing through the mine AND collecting the iron once we get access to it.

1) Crop Management. (This will always be defined as: water all crops; harvest any crops that need it.)
2) Plant and water the cauliflower seeds.
3) Craft one more furnace. (We have 100+ copper ore and 200+ stone.)
4) Clear out debris. Concentrate on wood specifically.
5) While clearing out debris, work on smelting copper ore.
6) Once out of energy, work on socialization (including Haley's daffodil).

1) Crop Management: success! Although we only had 85/270 energy left after watering crops.
2) Plant cauliflowers: success! (They were watered too; the figure above includes a little bit of energy spent hoeing.)
3) Craft another furnace: success! I ended up doing it after all the watering, but it still got done.
4) Clear out debris: eh. I chopped down two trees that were getting in the way of the crops and took out a few logs. Spent 83 energy on that.
5) Smelting copper ore: done! We now have some more copper bars. This ended up happening at night; we fought a few monsters while doing so. (Got some mixed seeds too!)
6) Give Haley a gold daffodil: success!

We're now at three hearts with Haley!

We also spent some time foraging, with decent success, in addition to socializing.

One piece of dialogue of note: per Elliott,

Cutscene - the Sewer Grate
As we entered Cindersap Forest, we heard the sounds of kids playing to the south. Finding that curious, we went to check it out. Vincent and Jas were both down by the sewer grate, poking around.

Jas: "Ew ... it smells."
Vincent, fiddling with the grate: "Why is it locked? I wanna explore the sewers!"
Jas: "I think Gunther has the key."
Vincent: "Professor Gunther? The man who runs the museum? Why do you think he has it?"
Jas: "I saw a big rusty old key fall out of his pocket one time. A creepy sewer door like this has just got to be a match for a big rusty old key."
*noises from the sewer; Jas and Vincent both run and hide behind you*
Jas: "There's something moving around in there!"
*We go down to the grate and peer into it; more noises. We jump; Jas and Vincent run away.*

Cutscene - Scaring off raccoons
As we left the Stardrop Saloon late at night, we noticed George wheel himself out of his house. He complained that there were raccoons around making noise and raiding his trash can; could we possibly scare them off for him?

We agreed, and he went back inside. When we went to check it out, we found Linus! He was the one raiding the trash cans - looking for food.

We assured him that

it's a shame for food to go to waste.

He smiled and agreed - but then promised not to raid George's trash can again. We could tell him we'd scared off the raccoons for good. We nodded, and left ... then stopped, lingering behind the saloon. Sure enough, Linus made his way over to Gus's trash can instead.

Before we could decide on anything, Gus came out, catching Linus red-handed. Gus didn't seem upset, though - he had a basket full of zucchini fritters with him. He handed it to Linus, saying that he didn't want anyone to go hungry in Pelican Town - and if Linus ever needed any food, come see him.

Some notes:

The new recipe for the Tapper:
Costs 40 wood & 2 copper bars.
Place on a maple, oak, or pine tree and wait for the reservoir to fill up with product! (Harvesting the product is free.)

Today is day 1/4 of Salmonberry season. We can harvest bushes for salmonberries at no energy cost. I'll automatically grab any salmonberries I see.
Bushes can be found on the farm, in Cindersap Forest, in Pelican Town, by the Bus Stop (including the tunnel entrance), and in the Mountain (including the pass between it and the farm).

The only thing on that list that's problematic - today, at least - is upgrading the pickaxe. We've got the copper, but we'll also need 2000G - unless the spring seed packs sell for enough to cover the difference (and Pierre's willing to buy them).

If we're willing to use berries to supplement today's energy, we should be able to get a lot of wood.

I'll go ahead and set the deadline for tomorrow evening. If anyone else has any ideas for today, let me know!

Ongoing: smelt copper while on the farm.

1) Crop management.
2) Craft two tappers; place them on Maple trees.
3) Craft two of the Wild Spring Seeds x10 bundles and sell the seeds to Pierre.
3a) If we get up to 2000G, upgrade the pickaxe.
4) Do a full round of the major areas looking for salmonberries.
5) With time leftover, chop wood. Use berries to replenish energy.

Results:
Smelt copper: success! We now have 17 copper bars and are down to 4 copper ore - not enough to smelt.

Crop management: success! We harvested 11 parsnips (9 normal, 1 silver, 1 gold) and watered all crops.
Note: one of our rice shoots was missing - presumably eaten by crows. (They have to be next to the water, so they're separate from the rest of the crops.) We were able to replace it thanks to a golem fight in the fields.

Craft two tappers: success! I

think

they're on maples now; I always have a hard time telling them apart from oaks. We'll find out eventually!

Craft two Wild Spring Seeds and sell them to Pierre: success! He paid 700G for the entire stack of twenty, bringing us up to 1016G.

Upgrade the pickaxe: failure. We're about halfway to having enough cash. Even selling the parsnips wouldn't have brought us over the line.

Do a full sweep for salmonberries: success! Not counting ones we ate, we found 44 salmonberries!
(Salmonberries: +25 energy, +11 health. We had a few when we talked to Pierre, so I can confirm that they sell for 5G each.)
We also found a variety of other forage, including leeks, horseradish, dandelions, and a couple of spring onions. (One of which I ate - we ran out of inventory space!)
We also found some buried treasure - a rusty spoon (donatable to Gunther) and a couple of lesser items.

Chop wood: we started with 114 wood (after crafting the tappers) and ended with 240 wood.

I have both Spring 14 and Spring 15 uploading now. Apologies for the delay on Spring 14!

Today is day 2/4 of Salmonberry season. While we did what should be a pretty comprehensive sweep yesterday, the berries do respawn quickly, so doing another sweep could be beneficial. Salmonberries have a low selling price (5G each), but are great little pick-me-ups in the energy department. We probably won't see as much non-salmonberry forage, though.

EDIT> Almost forgot; we found a lost book while digging! It's been automatically delivered to the library and can be read the next time we're there.

I'll take that as a suggestion to pet the cat today.

With no other suggestions on today's docket, I'll suggest a couple myself.

It's raining, and luck is high. That's usually means it's a good day to mine. Better chances of finding more stuff and making it deeper into the mines. On the other hand, unless we sell what we mine, we won't be getting much cash that way.

Fishing is another good alternative - selling the fish to rack up the cash. Better chances of finding treasure chests, I believe, and if we're not in the mines it's easier to do other stuff as well - socialize, etc. If we get enough cash fast enough, we might even be able to get the ball rolling on that pickaxe upgrade.

Either way, the only thing we need to do with crops is replant that rice shoot and harvest the lone cauliflower. That'll take no energy and very little time.

Fishing at the lake it is. Here's our official fleshed-out list:

1) Find our cat and pet it.
2) Replant the rice shoot. Harvest the lone cauliflower and save it.
3) Head to the mountain lake and fish until around 2:00 or so.
4) Head down to Willy and turn in the Chub quest. Then, sell all fish to Willy.
5) If we have enough cash, upgrade the pickaxe. If we're close, fish at the Ocean to try to close the gap.
6) Head back to the lake to wrap up the day's fishing. If we somehow missed the Chub quest, try to catch Willy outside somewhere to turn it in ASAP.
7) Sell all fish.

Keep an eye out for salmonberries while out. Bring along a few to replenish energy if needed.

1) Cat-petting: success! (really easy; cat was indoors. We even watched TV together.)
2) Crop management: success! Cauliflower harvested; rice replanted. Rain took care of the watering.
3) Fishing: success! We caught two chubs easily enough, as well as a bunch of other fish. Not much on the treasure front, alas.
4) Sell to Willy / turn-in the Chub quest: success! (I forgot to actually collect the cash from the quest on Spring 16 proper; fortunately, we can do that on Spring 17. I'll include the proceeds in the official total.)
5) Upgrade the pickaxe:

failure

. We got the money, but missed making it to Clint's in time. There may be a silver lining here, though - the copper ore quest we missed is available again, and since we didn't surrender the pickaxe we have the option of doing it tomorrow.
6) Head back to the lake: success! We didn't have a lot of time left, but we got a couple more fish. We also got some forage on the beach (after the failed run to Clint's).
7) Sell all fish: success! I didn't sell the beach forage, but I did sell a prehistoric tool from a treasure chest we fished up.

Other notes: we found a few more salmonberries, ending the day with 59 salmonberries total. I also made it a point to hunt down Haley and talk with her. (She was in her room, which we can now enter.)

Note on inventory: one of our chests is full; the other has reached 2/3rds capacity.

Note on the tulips: they come in different colors. It looks like most of our tulips came up in two different shades of purple. We also have two yellow tulips and one red tulip. Different colors do not stack (plus they may have varying degrees of quality, which also do not stack).

Here are some ideas for today. It's day 3/4 of salmonberry season.

1: We set our main priority today to completing Clint's quest - mining 20 copper ore. We head straight to the mines. Start at floor 10, emphasizing mining copper ore over everything else. At 2:00, if we have enough ore we stop mining then and try to catch Clint before he closes - in this world we also upgrade the pickaxe at this time. If we don't have enough by 2, we stay in the mine until we do, or until 8. We should be able to catch Clint in the saloon at night and turn in the quest there.

Crop management happens at night.
If we're insanely lucky and get a lot of copper early, we switch focus to progression in the mines. Not likely to get very far by 2, but who knows? Luck's high today.

2: We set our main priority today to collecting salmonberries. We do a full loop of everywhere, just like Wednesday. Crop management early; fishing once we get the salmonberries done. We upgrade the pickaxe as well. Maybe bring along some of the tulips to give away as gifts? (Or should we sell these? Don't know how much they sell for; just that they take up a lot of space.)

With either plan, leftover energy goes towards chopping wood. (With plan 2, we shift to chopping if it looks like we're going to have too much energy left by end of day.)

We'll do a 96-hour cycle this time instead of a 72-hour cycle. Timer set!

4) If we have time: upgrade the pickaxe at Clint's. (Turn in the copper ore quest.)
5) If we have time: give tulips to Evelyn and Alex; give a Leek to George. If we can't find Alex, give the tulip away to someone else.
6) If we weren't able to upgrade the pickaxe: turn in the copper ore quest to Clint at the Saloon.
7) Head back to the farm. Finish crop management - water, harvest remaining crops.
8) If we have time and energy: chop wood at the farm.

1) Acquire 20 Copper Ore - success! We got a total of 28 copper ore today. We also found a new artifact: an

Ancient Seed.

Gunther has an interest in this.
1a) If time left over, attempt progress through the mines - failure. We had some time left over, but even after leaving and re-starting on level 25, we were only able to make it to level 28. Technically this is progress, but no new checkpoint.

2) Turn in the gathering quest - success! Clint paid us 200G, and we got to keep the ore.
2a) If time, upgrade the pickaxe - success! We've paid 2000G and 5 Copper Bars.

Clint now has our pickaxe

3) Give Evelyn and Alex tulips; give George a leek - success! Evelyn and George

their gifts; Alex

his gift. We also had a chance to talk with Maru, Harvey, Sam (gave him an amethyst that we found in the mines; he liked it!), Penny, Jas, Vincent, Elliott ... think that was it. (Edit> Emily and Pam too, on watching the video. Also, Sam asked us for an idea for his next song; we suggested a song about a city in the sea. Alex commented that it was good weather for playing catch, but he didn't think we were up for it; we responded that we were content to watch him from afar.)

4) Crop management - success, although we had to eat a couple of salmonberries to recuperate enough energy.

5) Chop wood - failure. It was late (9:00) by the time we finished, and we were pretty much out of energy.

Note - our storage chests are now completely full. We need to either expand our storage or get rid of some things.

Make another chest: success! I've re-organized inventory based on three chests.

Fishing: success! I'd set a mental deadline of 3:00 PM to catch three carp; #3 showed up right at the buzzer.
We also caught a few other fish - plus some treasure chests. Notable finds there include an

Ancient Seed

artifact. Gunther has interest in all three items (and we now have

Ancient Seeds).

Turning in the quest: success! We got 90G.

Salmonberries: success! We ended the day with 124 Salmonberries in total. That wraps up Salmonberry season for the year!

We had some excess energy left over, but not much - and we wrapped up pretty late at night, so didn't really have time to spend it.

We reached Level 5 fishing!

When we hit level 5, we get a choice. The problem is, we don't find out that we've reached a level until the end of the day - and we're required to make that choice before we can officially end the day (and save the day's results). So I had to make the choice this time.

Our choices were:

Fisher: increases the sale price of all fish by 25%.
Trapper: Decreases the cost to make Crab Pots.

Of these, I chose

Fisher

. We'll get more money when we sell fish from now on. (Unfortunately, this did not apply to the fish we sold today.)

Going forward, I'm going to keep an eye out on our skill levels. If we're at level 4 and it looks like we might make it to level 5, I'll look up the choices and put them to a vote.

Let's take a look at some options.

Prioritize the Coop

We rush the Coop. Chop trees, sell the Spring Seeds for the cash. We need 104 wood, so it'll take more than one tree.
We get our Pickaxe back and try to complete Demetrius's Rock Crab quest - but make sure we leave enough time to talk to Robin no matter what.
We buy the Coop today.
Crop Management happens at the end of the day unless we get the wood *really* fast - we ideally want to be at Clint's at 9 when he opens.

I'd rather be fishing

We buy the Fiberglass Rod and spend the day fishing. With the Rod, we can attach the bait to it. We can craft more bait from bug meat if needed.
We still get our Pickaxe back, but do it closer to 4.
We also drop by the Museum and clear out our donations.
At the end of the day, we sell all non-duplicate fish.
Crop Management happens at the start of the day. We do some wood chopping at the end of the day to position ourselves better for the Coop tomorrow.

We'll set a deadline of tomorrow to pick a set, tweak a set, or come up with a brand new set:

Results:

Buy the Fiberglass Rod: success! We spent

1800G

, but we can now use bait when fishing.

Go fishing: success! After selling duplicate fish, we made enough cash to cover the cost of the rod. We also fished up a few treasure chests - a little bit of ore, as well as two new artifacts! (Rare Disc, Skeletal Tail.)

Retrieve pickaxe: success! We now have the

Copper Pickaxe

! It's more efficient than the basic Pickaxe; some obstacles will take fewer swings to destroy now. I also cracked one Geode (acquired while fishing), spending 25G for some clay. Oops.

Donate items to Gunther: success! We donated the Rare Disc, the Skeletal Tail, and a few other items we had lying around. As a reward, we got: a new painting (

A Night on Eco-Hill

), a packet of fully plantable

Ancient Seeds

, and a new blueprint - we can now turn the Ancient Seed artifact into packets of plantable Ancient Seeds. While there, we also caught up on reading the lost books. (See next entry.)

Lost Book: On Foraging
The local woods and mountains are great places to find wild produce! A good forager will clear out and weeds, stumps, or stones from these areas, so the wild produce has plenty of space to grow!

Expert foragers know the secret to cultivating wild food so that it can be grown on the farm. Isn't that amazing?

No suggestions yet, so here are some ideas:

Keeping Robin in business

With this plan, we work on the Coop.
- We turn in both a parsnip and cauliflower to Jodi, clearing both quests. We'll definitely get some cash from the parsnip; maybe from the cauliflower too?
- We craft Wild Spring Seeds and sell them to Pierre until we have enough cash to buy a Coop. We then buy a Coop.
- Energy goes towards crop management and chopping wood (mostly to replace the wood we just spent).
- For the rest of the day, we work on socialization. We take whatever daffodils and tulips we have sitting around and go giving them out. We make sure to hit up Haley.

Isn't this a farming game?

- We get some more crops going. It's late in the season, but we still have time to plant parsnips and potatoes. We buy some seeds from Pierre and plant them. Crop management as usual.
- We also plant the two Ancient Seeds.
- We turn in the cauliflower and parsnip to Jodi.
- Extra time and energy goes to clearing out the farm of debris and weeds. With more time, we work on debris clearing outside the farm (per the tip from the lost book).

We got a new toy!

- After crop management, we head to the mines and see how far we get. Prioritizing progression.
- That's it. That's our day.

Cutscene - at Haley's House
As we walked into Haley's house, we saw Haley and Emily standing in the living room, arguing over who had to clean under the cushions.

Haley insisted that it was Emily's turn to do it, as she did it last week. Emily retorted that she did most of the work around the house, and that Haley should do it.

After being asked to arbitrate, we decided that

Haley should take this as her one weekly chore

. Haley seemed annoyed but agreed to do it.

Haley did perk up afterwards when we gave her a gold-quality daffodil.

Cutscene - at Pierre's shop
While we were busy preparing the seeds for Pierre, Morris walked in the door! He didn't seem to be interested in shopping, though - instead, he loudly announced that he was giving away coupons for 50% off a customer's entire purchase.

All of Pierre's customers jumped at this opportunity - grabbing a coupon from Morris and walking out of Pierre's.

Pierre protested; he couldn't match those prices! He'd be selling at a loss. But no one was around to hear it - except us.

For whatever reason, Morris didn't see fit to give us a coupon.

We tried to cheer Pierre up with a free dandelion; he seemed to be in slightly better spirits afterwards.

The "test the new toy" plan was pretty simple: after crop management, we head to the mines and ... well, mine. Prioritizing progression, specifically, trying to make it to floor 40 and beyond. We've also got that rock crab quest, so we'll make sure to keep an eye peeled for them.

Adding Abigail to the mix is certainly possible, although it means that either we'll need to leave the mine in time to catch her at night, or wait to catch her before going there. If we go there before, we'll probably want to give her a quartz, as we have plenty. If we go there after, we may have more options depending on what we find in the mine - and if we get the rock crabs, we'll have to leave early anyway to turn them in to Demetrius.

Crop management: success! We now have five green beans and eleven strawberries.
Mining: success!
- New checkpoint: level 35! Starting from level 30, the mine has grown a lot darker - bats and golems have started showing up, and staircases are tough to spot. Fighting the golems is a major chore and best avoided where possible.
- We got 46 copper ore, 3 geodes, 1 Omni geode, an amethyst, a few quartz, a red mushroom, and a small assortment of other items. Inventory was full by the time we got back home.
- No luck with the crab quest - we got a few crabs, but not enough to finish the quest.
Abigail: success, albeit barely. We spent hours looking for her, finally catching her late at night on her way back home. We gave her a quartz; she liked it! (I would have tried the amethyst, but didn't realize I had it until reviewing the video.)

We're really poor and should fix that. Let's go fishing. Sell our catch at the end of the day; mix in some socializing. (The Flower Dance is getting close; we could hit up Haley with another daffodil ...) The mines can wait another day ...

Eyes on the prize

We haven't hit level 40 in the mines yet and should fix that. Let's go mining. Aim for progression again and seeing if we can get any iron this time. To deal with the money issues, let's sell a few strawberries instead.

I want to be a lumberjack

We haven't hit level 5 foraging yet and should fix that. Let's chop down some trees. Also, let's donate everything we can to the community center, and start selling whatever crops we have that we don't donate. We can socialize on this path as well; we'll have plenty of time.

I was getting ready to write up a list that included hitting up Robin to get a silo going and hitting up Marnie to get some chickens, then realized it was Tuesday and they're both closed today. And they'll both be closed tomorrow in observance of the holiday. So filling the Coop will have to wait a couple of days.

No matter which we choose, we will make a round of donations to the Community Center and hit up Haley with a gold daffodil.

Killing time by killing monsters

Okay, we'll actually be prioritizing making it further in the mines. But this sounded better. Aiming for floor 40.

One last farming hurrah

Our window to plant any more crops before Spring ends is rapidly coming to a close - but we still have time for parsnips. We'll buy a bunch of parsnips and plant 'em for a nice cash infusion before Summer hits.

Free crops are cheaper

We'll do a full round of foraging and combine with woodcutting to take care of energy.

If we do: we must enter Cindersap Forest between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. As with the Egg Festival, time will not pass during the dance itself, but it'll be late when we return; we won't have time to do much. Most of the village usually turns out for events, so we'll be able to talk to just about everyone without clock pressure. We can spend our time (and energy) freely before the dance, except that we cannot shop or pass through Cindersap.

If we don't: we cannot enter Cindersap Forest until after 2:00 PM. Shops will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Some notes on the chickens:

1) Ideally, we should feed them every day.
- On clear days, we can open the coop up and let the chickens out; they'll eat grass. We can either leave the doors open constantly, or open/close them as needed.
- On rainy days, they won't leave the coop. We'll have to feed them hay, or let them do without food. If we have Robin build us a

, we can cut grass to make hay at the farm.

2) We can pet the chickens once a day. They enjoy the attention!

No issues with farm management, except that I forgot to close the coop up again at night. This is fairly normal for me; I usually tend to leave the doors open. We harvested the cauliflowers; all we have left are parsnips, green beans, and strawberries.

Notes for today:
- After harvesting, the only crops we have left are the renewables: green beans and strawberries. To the best of my knowledge, the renewables won't have enough time to produce any more crops. As such, I won't water them automatically. If players request it, I will water them. (I could be wrong, after all!)
- Counting today, Spring has two more days left. If there's any business we want to finish up before the season ends, we'd better get to work on it!
- All remaining crops will die at the start of Summer. Fertilizer will have to be reapplied; most or all of the ground will have to be re-tilled.
- Don't forget to vote for the level 5 farming and level 5 foraging perks! Deadline on these is when we actually reach those levels, which may happen without warning.

Today's results, excluding the mining:

Animals successfully petted. Since we left the coop door open last night (and did it again today ...), spotting the baby chickens in the grass was a little bit tough. Fortunately, the grass rustles when they move.

Crops successfully harvested. We got:

Axe has been handed off to Clint. It will be ready for pickup at 9:00 AM, Summer 1.

We found a little bit of forage en route, but gave it all away.

1) We ran out of space during the run; as a result, we had to throw a couple of things away. (Wood x2, Rusty Spoon)
2) We made it to floor 50! We've completed

To the Bottom?

So far, there's no sign of the bottom. How low does it go?

Progress: 50 floors explored.

3) When we reached floor 40, we finally escaped the dark zone. Things are looking a lot brighter now; the cave is all silvery.
- Slimes are noticeably tougher to kill.
- Bats are more common.
- Black puffballs keep trying to surround us. They're not *too* tough, but they seem to be able to break rocks sometimes ...
- Iron ore nodes have arrived. They take two strikes of the pickaxe to mine.
- Regular rocks have toughened up. They *also* take two strikes of the pickaxe to mine, which will slow us down.

4) We got reward chests for floors 40 and 50.
- Floor 40 yielded a

. This is a ranged weapon; it uses stones as ammo.

Note: I usually don't use this too much, and probably won't unless specifically asked to.

As we were leaving Clint's, we noticed George across the river wheeling himself out to his mailbox. He was struggling to reach something at the very back.

We headed over there, but Penny beat us there first. She quickly volunteered to help - and then, without waiting for an answer, promptly pushed George in his chair out of the way, grabbed the letter from the box, and handed it to George.

George was

pissed

, and lit into Penny - but then stopped upon seeing us.

We

scolded Penny

for moving George without asking. Penny apologized - and so did George, saying he shouldn't have lost his temper. George then went back into his home.

Penny wondered what it would be like to be old.

We didn't want to think about it.

Chores will last until reviewed. Default review time: once per season. Any player may request a review of a chore.
Establishing a chore requires consensus of at least two players.

Animal Maintenance: check! Mayo machines are up and running. We converted today's eggs into mayo and sold the mayo for 190G each.

Smelt iron: check! Since this was on the list, I opted to return back to the farm when out of energy rather than use salmonberries. We're down to 9 iron ore left.

Fishing: check! I opted to fish at the ocean this time. Sold goods to Willy part-way through to try and avoid not having to throw things away. Worked this time.
Notable treasures this time include a few geodes, a dried starfish, some copper and gold (!) ore, two rubies (!!), and a dinosaur egg (!!!). Gunther has interest in the starfish, rubies, and egg.

As the first day of summer starts, it brings with it a visitor to the farm. Demetrius is there, bright and early, with an offer for us to consider, and he isn't taking no for an answer.

"Hi Farren! I have some good news for you. A few days ago I made a breakthrough in my research on the local environment.

'I'll spare you the technical details and get to the point... You know that empty cave over there, a little ways to the west? Well, I have a way to turn it into something useful for both of us. Notes for today:
- It's a new season! If anyone wants to explore anywhere, let me know - I'll process exploration results ASAP. (We'll make it a point to visit any explored areas during the playthrough.)
- Make sure to vote for the cave upgrade! This one has to be resolved before we end the day, and the effects are permanent.
- Per Livin' Off The Land, Pierre should have some new seeds for sale. We've also got some mixed seeds, some melon seeds, a single starfruit seed, and a few ancient seeds.

- Willy's Shop has been updated in the OP. He's actually carrying quite a bit more stuff than I'd realized, including bait and a variety of tackle.

With no suggestions yet, here are some things we can do. Either way, we'll take care of the animals first.

Let's get farming!

With this plan, we hit up Clint at 9:00 to pick up our axe, then go straight to Pierre's from there.
We'll grab a variety of seeds - maybe 5-10 or so of each type, depending on how many different types there are and how many we can afford.
Once we have that, we go back and plant. We'll plant and water everything we buy, as well as the seeds we have on hand (melon, starfruit, mixed, ancient).

Leftover time and energy will go to cleaning up the farm - more debris spawned during the seasonal transition, plus the new axe can take out stumps.

Let's go exploring!

With this plan, we try to give the entire town a once-over.

We'll visit all the merchants - Clint, Pierre, Robin, Harvey, Willy. We'll see what's changed, and make plans for what to buy later.

Let's get farming!

With this plan, we hit up Clint at 9:00 to pick up our axe, then go straight to Pierre's from there.
We'll grab a variety of seeds - maybe 5-10 or so of each type, depending on how many different types there are and how many we can afford.

Make sure to grab 31 melon seeds.

Once we have that, we go back and plant. We'll plant and water everything we buy, as well as the seeds we have on hand (melon, starfruit, mixed, ancient).

Fertilize all melon seeds and corn.

(And I'm fertilizing the ancient seeds too.)

Leftover time and energy will go to cleaning up the farm - more debris spawned during the seasonal transition, plus the new axe can take out stumps.

1) Fishing. It's a new season; there's probably new fish to catch.

2) Exploring. Doing a full sweep, looking for forage and checking out shops for new stock.

3) Staying on the farm; work on catching up smelting, lumberjacking, and stump removal.

Crops watered. Animals tended to; both chickens are currently at 0.5/5 hearts of happiness.

We fished at the river today, and saw the following fish:

- Chub (old)
- Sunfish (old)
- Bream (old)
- Rainbow Trout (new)
- Pike (new)
- Dorado (new, difficult to catch)

Initial fishing resulted in some low-quality fish; after changing spots it seemed to clear up.

After banking at least one of each unique fish, we ended the day with

To the best of my knowledge: unlike the other tools, the primary benefit of the iridium rod isn't improved efficiency - it's the ability to equip tackle.

We currently have two dressed spinners, which I believe function much like bait - it should take less time to hook fish with one in use.

We also have the ability to craft other tackle, or purchase it from Willy. Individual tackle lasts longer than individual bait does, but it does wear out over time. I'll use them automatically if we have them, but I won't craft them without a request to do so (unlike bait, which I'll craft freely as long as we've got bug meat to spare).

As far as the sprinklers go - basic sprinklers definitely will not play nice with our current crop configuration. I laid out the crops for ease of watering, scarecrow adjacency, and at least partial compatibility with future watering can upgrades.

The primary advantage of crafting sprinklers now would be the ability to add more crops without it being a further drain on our energy. Our current crops as they stand are already consuming at least 60% of our daily starting energy on sunny days. We have an assortment of mixed seeds that we could plant, if nothing else.

One thing I forgot: today was Wednesday. That means Pierre was closed, and we couldn't sell anything to him. So all of the crops (and yesterday's mayo) had to go into the shipping bin, which means we didn't get the money until end of day.

Willy, fortunately, was open, so we were able to sell the backlog of fish, as well as almost everything we caught up between 11-4. We had enough after the second round of sales to buy the Iridium Fishing Rod. I brought a Dressed Spinner with me and hooked that up.

Fish we caught today between 11-4:
- Tuna (new, donatable)
- Flounder
- Red Mullet (new)
- Pufferfish (new, donatable, tough to catch - missed one!)

Fish we caught today between 4-8:
- Flounder
- Red Mullet
- Super Cucumber (new, *very* tough to catch, *very* good stats: something like +225 energy! We did miss one, though.)
- Halibut (can't remember if this is new or not).

I saved one Pufferfish, one Tuna, and one Super Cucumber. The first two to donate, the last one due to its stats.

New cooking recipe: Seafoam Pudding. 1 Flounder, 1 Midnight Carp, 1 Squid Ink = +175 Energy, +78 Health, +4 fishing skill (temporary).

The next level in fishing will be level 10, which means we have another vote to open up.

Our two choices for level 10 fishing, given that we picked Fisher at level 5, are:

Final notes on today:
- The bulletin board had a quest for Emily to deliver a Joja Cola to her, for 75G and her satisfaction. We happened to catch one while fishing, so I dropped by the saloon on the way back and gave her one.
- We found a small amount of forage - a few Spice Berries by the bus stop and a Sweet Pea in the cemetery (along with Abigail).
- I dug up a couple of lost books. The library has a bunch of them by now.

It cost us 40 copper ore to build the two new furnaces. We successfully smelted the remaining 55 copper ore for 11 copper bars.

Fishing haul today: 5075G. Not quite as efficient as it could have been; I forgot to bring a pickaxe with me to remove the furnaces once they were done, so had to go back and get one.

This time I went fishing at the lake, since it's the only area we haven't hit up yet.

Fish we caught:
- Carp (old)
- Chub (old)
- Bullhead (old)
- Largemouth Bass (old)
- Rainbow Trout (also in the river)
- Sturgeon (new - tough to catch, but gold sturgeons sell for 375G each - also is the *last* fish in the Lake Fish community center bundle. I saved one to donate.)

Here's a rundown of what we did today:
- Watered crops. Harvested the Wheat, replacing them with Radish seeds (purchased today from Pierre's).
- Checked on the animals.
- Donated a bunch of stuff to Gunther. We got a bunch of cosmetic items, as well as Pumpkin Seeds x9 (a fall crop).
- Donated a bunch of stuff to the Community Center. We finished the Lake Fish bundle (reward: another Dressed Spinner), the Summer Foraging bundle (reward: Wild Summer Seeds x30), and the Construction bundle (reward: one Charcoal Kiln, which can convert Wood x10 -> Coal x1).
- We also unlocked two new bundles: the Vault and the Bulletin Board. The Vault demands four cash payments (2500G, 5000G, 10000G, 25000G); the Bulletin Board is a little more involved. Will list those out later.
- Alex is running an ice cream stand! When he's there, he sells ice cream: +100 Energy, +45 Health, for 250G. His stand is located by the Museum.
- The Traveling Merchant was in today! Most of what they had looked overpriced and/or uninteresting, but I did buy one item: a

Rare Seed

for 1000G. This must be planted in the Fall and will take the entire season to grow.
- We also chopped down some trees and stumps on the farm. It was late, so ended up fighting some monsters on the farm too.
- Finally, we hit

Level 5 Foraging

, which ends that particular vote.

Gatherer

won 2-1, so that's what we picked.

Today's results:
- Upgrading the axe to iron: process started! We paid Clint 5000G and 5 bars of iron. The axe will be ready for pickup when he opens on Monday, Summer 8.
- Socializing: we talked with a few people today. Penny, Vincent, Jas. Evelyn and George. Clint (of course). Abigail and Pierre. Robin, Demetrius, Sebastian, Maru. Lewis. Linus. Think that covers everyone I saw?
- Mining: this was a mixed bag.

Negatives: we only made it down to level 54 - which means no new checkpoints. We'll be starting again from level 50 next time. This was due to a couple of factors - it took a lot of time to find a staircase on level 51, and ghosts are now showing up - they take a *lot* of hits to kill, and we really can't leave fliers alive if we want to be able to mine in peace. Additionally, there wasn't a lot of ore - we only got something like 10 iron ore.

While we could have at least made it to 55 if the staircases had cooperated (or if we'd started earlier), progress will be slow until we get a better weapon and a better pickaxe.

Positives: the ghosts dropped Solar Essence, which can complete one of the Center bundles. Additionally, one of the black fuzzy monsters dropped a

Coffee Bean

. This is a Spring/Summer crop that yields more coffee beans on harvest. It's also renewable, so it'll stick around until the end of Summer. Coffee beans can be thrown into a keg to produce coffee, which is a lousy healing item - but does also offer a temporary movement speed boost. We also picked up a couple of frozen geodes and frozen tears.

Just now realized that my videos were off by a day, and I don't think Summer 3 ever got uploaded. Those are properly labeled now, and I will get Summer 3 uploaded and edited into the above post as soon as I can.

Given that I never changed today's date over, I'm going to give it another 48 hours for ideas. Will come up with some of my own if we don't have any by this time or so tomorrow.

After this, we really need to get back to 72 hour cycles. There's some buffer built into the schedule to allow for the occasional 96-hour day, but not an infinite supply.

With no axe in hand, today's probably best spent either mining or fishing. Mining didn't go so well, so might be better to stick to fishing until we can upgrade the pickaxe at a minimum.

Getting a new weapon will be trickier - and the best source is the mines itself.

We've got radishes to harvest, so will probably want to replace those as well.

When we arrived at Pierre's, we could hear Abigail grumbling loudly from her bedroom. Curious, we stopped by.

She was playing

Journey of the Prairie King

- the home version, with two-player co-op, and doing decidedly lousy at it. She asked if we wanted to help her get past the first level, and wasn't taking no for an answer.

So we did.

She was impressed with our joystick skills, but alas - we had to cut the game short. The farm - and fish - wait for no one!

Note: we can play

Journey of the Prairie King

in the arcade of the saloon. From reading in the library, we know that beating the game will enter us into a drawing of some sort. Playing this game takes a good amount of realtime, but not much in-game time.

The Railroad
The railroad has definitely seen better days.

Debris

has spread throughout the zone. Only a short section of the tracks is accessible - the train basically pops out of a tunnel briefly, passes by a station, then quickly jumps back in the tunnel. The station doesn't show any recent signs of use. Other than the train tunnel - which we'd have to be fools to try to enter - there are two paths leading out.

The first leads into a cave; this one is blocked by a bizarre green statue with chicken legs. We've never seen anything like it.
The second is a path heading up to the mountains. This one is blocked by a much more conventional boulder - but it looks too big to break with the pickaxe.

Besides the station, there's one other building of note - the

Spa

. We can rest in the spa to

regain energy

- doing this will take time.

Since we were here, we topped up our energy (what we spent watering crops).

We grabbed five radish seeds from Pierre to replace the five that we harvested today.

After checking out the railroad, we spent the rest of the day fishing - spending all the energy we refilled at the Spa, and then some. We had a pretty decent haul, making a touch over

3600G

by selling fish. (We kept one Chub, as it's part of one of the new bundles.) Including mayo sales, we ended up selling

4075G

worth of goods.

From worst to best:
- Carp (56G for gold; 75G for iridium)
- Chub (93G for gold; 125G for iridium)
- Rainbow Trout (121G for gold)
- Bullhead (140G for gold; 187G for iridium)
- Largemouth Bass (187G for gold)
- Sturgeon (375G for gold)

We also did decently in the treasure department, snagging a small amount of iron ore, gold ore, geodes, and gems - including three emeralds and two rubies!

Finally, we did snag a quest from the bulletin board - Sam wants a Pufferfish, and is willing to pay 600G for one. Pufferfish can be caught at the ocean between 12 and 4 on sunny summer days. They are difficult to catch.

Note - we're running low on Bug Meat, which we use to make bait. If we run out of bait, it will slow down our fishing.

We can find bug meat in the mines, in the earlier floors. Alternately, we can buy bait from Willy if we run out, or do without bait.

Also, we still have no votes for level 5 Mining or level 10 Fishing.

Today's results:

Watering plants: check. Also fed animals and harvested five poppies. Note - those take up five spaces, due to the colors / quality. Bought five spangle seeds from Pierre to replace them with.

Business with Clint: check! We've got the Steel Axe now, and the Watering Can is in the shop for upgrade.

It will cost

and five gold bars to upgrade the Axe again.

Fishing for pufferfish: check! We caught one after four casts.
Note - the first cast happened at 11:50, which wasn't quite in time for a pufferfish. Whatever it was, it was *fast* - and we missed it. Faster than the pufferfish, for sure. Might have been an octopus - those show up in the ocean in the mornings. If it was, catching that will not be easy.

We turned the pufferfish in to Sam - who we caught at JojaMart. He happily coughed up the 600G.

Mining: check. Not too much came out of it, but we did get a little bit of bug meat (maybe about 10, give or take?) and some copper. Inventory was tight, as I was trying to do everything in one big loop.
