Not appropriate in this small of a game.

Do you think scum or town lurk more and why?
Depends on player's meta. Some players in general lurk more than others regardless of alignment. I agree with you that active lurking is scummy, though.

How active would you say you are in a typical mafia game?
It depends on how busy I am, but I try to post at least once a day.

I use policy lynches as a guise to start bandwagons and such depending on my mood, but I don't really ever push a
policy lynch
. So I guess it's just me going fishing... :/

It's a null tell for flaking, but active lurking is scummy (it's one of my top scum traits from games I've won as scum... :P )

I'm moderately active, though my activity changes due to rl stuff. For example, I had to replace out of two games because of the stress and time-consumption of a case study I had to write a bit ago.

Policy lynching sucks and is an excuse for poor scum-hunters.

Lurking happens about equally for both I think. Analyzing the manner/motivation of lurking on a case by case basis is much more useful. Hence I would agree that active lurking is typically scummy.

I am usually active. As in I have never lurked to replacement and never to more than a prod or two in any game (usually none). My most active days are Monday through Wednesday with Saturday being a day that I'm almost never at a computer.

@Bio Hazard
His post didn't twinge me one way or the other.

1. Not a fan of policy lynches. They almost always turn out to be a distraction.

2. I think activity is a very unreliable indicator of alignment. Active lurking is a weak scum tell, but it's easy to confuse with other activity patterns.

3. It depends on the game. I'm not that active in large games usually, but I am in minis.

Question time

What is your belief on policy lynching?

Do you think scum or town lurk more and why?

How active would you say you are in a typical mafia game?

1) I think scum use it more then town. There are some games I can see why a policy lynch is neccessary but they are in larger games.

2) I would say actively lurking is a scum trait. If a person is lurking it could be for many reasons and I see both alignments lurker.

3) I'm so active it hurts. Weekends I dont' post as much but during the work week you will see me here lots.
Thankyou for the questions.

I do not like policy lynching at all. While it is sometimes used as a front for scum I think it's even more often used by townies who aren't thinking properly. Not that I won't mercilessly attack it. The only scenario I can think of where a policy lynch may be justified is to get the game moving when it's otherwise stalled

I think *some players* will lurk more as scum, especially when they think they can get away with it. There are other players, probably in the minority, who have distinctive playstyles (usually they're more skilled) and who I thus wouldn't necessarily expect to lurk as scum.

My activity is incredibly variable and goes through great peaks and troughs. I don't think it's necessarily dependent on the phase of the game. Sometimes I just can't get my bearings right at the start of the game and thus don't post much, sometimes I'm active at the start and my interest wanes towards the middle (or I become extremely busy irl and thus procrastinate all my mafia games), and sometimes I get demotivated towards the end of the game as you can see in the recently finished rampage survival large theme. This is also moderated by whether I'm scum or whether I have a power role, although not linearly I don't think.

1) I disagree with policy lynching. It basically boils down to a high-class OMGUS.

2) Based on my experience, lurking is townish, active lurking is usually scumish.

3) I'll try to post at least a few times per day.

Bio Hazard, what's up? Your first three posts are trying to build a case on my first two.

Any kind of strict policy lynch is just too rigid to be realistically applied Most things depend on circumstance and scenarios. But I rarely see people adopt policy lynches anyway.

Active lurking is generally scummy. Just lurking in general, however, is a null tell but not at all helpful to town. Overall, I eat lurkers for breakfast.

I'd say I'm pretty active. I usually post multiple times a day throughout the week but not as much on the weekends.

Everybody should explain why they are voting who they are voting.

Everybody not voting should explain why they aren't voting.

I'm not voting because I didn't take part in the RVS, and I haven't found anything scummy yet.

Currently voting Mindgamer for RVS: he was in my last game. Hence the conspiracy remark. I didn't realize another player from that game, Bio Hazard, had joined too, apparently that's why he voted me.

I'm voting for ABR because I like to see him talk and get him motivated early. Plus so far I'm pretty good with reading him and the more he talks the better feel I can get from him.

I voted ksun as an RVS vote whose premise was to follow ABR's vote.

I shall keep my vote on ksun as all he posted was one vote post, one post justifying his vote as coming from random.org and telling the tracker/vig what to choose without providing his reasoning, and one vote not fully addressing the questions asked, and defending "active lurking".

@ RayFrost: We're not going to get into another RVS argument, are we?

Hm.. I'm bored.

Vote: Bio Hazard
for trying to build a case on me in RVS. Not the best evidence in the world, but sounds good for now.

RayFrost, I voted you because I thought a wagon on you, as one of the players in this game I know to be quite skilled, would be a good place to start.

MMM, why not vote RayFrost, who is doing the same thing? Also, I don't see what's scummy about trying to build a case in RVS.

I find ray trying to get something going with his vote. I do wonder why MMM was picked over semioldguy. I don't know why voting someone is a way of thanking a person.
From MMM response it sounds like the 2 have a history as well.

MMM are you avoiding putting pressure on ray for any reason?
Ray are you avoiding putting pressure on semi and if not why not mention semi doing the same thing with his vote?

In any case, I voted you because I needed an RVS vote. That and I want revenge for the last few games.
