False.

99% of games start with a random voting stage, which
everybody
participates in because it's a good way to start conversation.

unvote, Vote: The Pope's Tiara

I'm not certain that you think that "chainsaw defense" means the same thing that I think it does.

And voting for you was not random it was "near random"

I wanted to vote for someone who had not posted yet to see how they would react.

I do find your reaction troubling though, not "proof of scum" troubling but troubling nonetheless

Depends.

Some games start with night; the next morning starts with trying to decide who might have killed whoever's dead. Sometimes a cop gets a guilty on the first night and the next day is a series of votes for the same person.

Some games with unusual features start with everyone talking about the setup and how to make use of it.

Some games, like Bad Idea Mafia start with someone being shot in the face.

There's usually at least one random vote in every game though.

I agree with WhereisTony.

Normally yes, worth noting unfortunately I have to ask myself, is Pope's Tiara nervous because It(you have no gender I can see) is new?

btw Tony, I like the evil looking bear, I bet you wanted to be scum. :P

yeah i use the vbear in another forum too.

I think playing scum would be interesting but the game is new enough to me that all the roles are.

As for Pope...well I could not say he is scum with any real certainty, but...gotta vote somewhere.

According to the wiki, a chainsaw defense is when you claim to be a Miller, or some other pro-town role that investigates as guilty, allowing you to defend yourself without counterattacking the person that investigates you.
However, there are no Millers in this game, and nobody has done any claiming yet... so I don't see how I could have done a chainsaw defense.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to keep track of who's voting for whom. I'm gonna have to draw a freaking diagram or something.

As M4yhem mentioned, I'm the other IC in this game.

And unfortunately, I have to disagree with him immediately. In my opinion, a game does not need to have random votes. Votes that are actually based on reasoning, however weak, work better for starting the discussion. If something in the way a player confirmed caught your attention, vote for that rather then just picking a player from the playerlist and vote random.

At the moment, however, I think I can start discussion without voting.

The Pope's Tiara, you voted WhereIsTony because he random voted. J_Slr also made a random vote. Was there a particular reason why you didn't vote J_Slr?

Syphen, you are aware that your vote is the third on WhereIsTony, when five votes means a lynch? Do you think there is a risk of a quicklynch (two more players putting their votes on WhereIsTony in quick succession, ending the day before we had a chance to properly discuss)?

A simple list to keep track of the votes should be enough, JonMW. There are several possible ways to count the votes. The official vote counts usually only show the current count. You could also include a voting history if you wanted to.

This is the (unofficial) votecount thus far:
WhereIsTony 3 (JonMW, The Pope's Tiara, Syphen)
JonMW 0
J_Slr 0 (
M4yhem
)
Yuu 0
Syphen 0
The Pope's Tiara 2 (WhereIsTony, M4yhem)
hohum 0
M4yhem 0
MichelSableheart 1 (J_Slr)

not voting 3 (Yuu, hohum, MichelSableheart)
There is no 'a' in Michel.

While a list certainly contains all the information, a flowchart-like diagram can more easily show any large-scale division of opinion in the players. Show the two fronts of the war more easily, kind of thing.

Michel- I have never been able to find mafia by the way people confirm. That's some impressive scumhunting abilities you have there. ;)

I didn't realise whereistony had three votes. That's a little unwise.

Jon, if you want to make a diagram, that would be cool.

I'm wondering where Yuu is. Yuu, if you see this, don’t be shy, say hi!

I thought chainsaw defense was when a person defends another who is being accused of scum by attacking the accuser.

You wouldn't want to vote off a cop, would you? I mean, we don't know what anyone is, and my user name is p. cool.

Why not go for someone who isn't playing? If we vote for the unconfirmed night (regardless of what he is), it will make no difference. He isn't playing anyway.

When you play Soduko, you need a few placed tiles to give you some basic guessing. When you play minesweeper, you need to click that first tile. When you're solving a cryptogram (for all you oldies), you need a hint to the first letter (I guess). Someone has to go or die, so I say it be the guy that isn't playing.

Unvote

If we can all agree to this, then I will go ahead as well. I don't think randomly voting someone off makes sense. Let's go for that guy who isn't even here.

Vote: hohum

Seriously. Wouldn't you hate it if you were voted off first? I mean, what's the fun in that. Let's at least let something pop up that is actually sensical before we start knocking off the people who are actually playing.

Oh my god.

1. There's more chance statistically of you being scum than cop. Also, implying that you might be cop is a dodgy defense and puts the town in danger because people's reactions to your suggestion can help scum find the real cop.

2. Are you serious?
Firstly, the mod is already taking care of the hohum problem. Trust Erg0, he will look after us.
Second, we have no idea if hohum is scum or not because we have nothing to go on. You're basically saying we should take a wild stab in the dark and kill someone who can't defend themselves...for the sake of people's feelings?
That's not how the game works. If you'd looked careful at the other players and then worked out hohum was scum by a process of elimination that'd be fine but as it is your vote is baseless and I feel very happy voting you.
