the only three headed hydra on the site that matters isn't in the game soJoin me on my quest to play every NES game! Some of them are awful.

boy will I have fun this gameOf all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Only post when there's something worth saying. Or if everything has gone to shit and there's a PT for the game where everyone can metaphorically projectile shit all over each other for the benefit of everyone who ever gets curious and looks later. Or for the people stuck in that PT who get barraged with all the projectile shitting that misses the intended target and covers them.In post 262, Cerberus v666 wrote:Ya me too. I'm going to be lazy. bins doesn't post much. and Drixx doesn't post much either. I will make an effort to keep this manageable for the sake of everyone else.
But otherwise... no need to post.
Sick burn yo. I always need all the help I can get. I'm in the top 99.9% of players on this site only because there's no way to be statistically certain that I'm actually so bad I fall into that worst 0.01%. If there was a way to be certain, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't make the top 99.9% though. For reals. In post 277, dramonic wrote:Considering the players in those two 3 headed hydras, they need all the help they can get
Play nice ABR. People don't uproot their lives and move 1/4 the way across a continent very often. I refresh a lot and Cerb still constantly surprises me. I have never once dropped a note to him about something in a game into our slack and had it be a surprise to him. Posts less than a minute old that I'm alerting him to he'll have already read. Unless he's asleep. In post 280, Albert B. Rampage wrote:Cerb I can tell you for a fact that you've been called out for your slot being missing at important junctures in the game.
WHERE IS CERB
sorry I was driving I couldnt read or post for the last hot
DAMNNNN
see? Huge advantage
It is true that Cerb is super active, and unless it's D&D night or something in my RL needs attention (or I'm sick, which is just a thing that happens because Spinal injuries suck), I'm also pretty active. When I'm not active, it's NAI, but me being not active has been rare enough that when it happens I almost always get lynched because people refuse to believe that going inactive is NAI for me. I don't lurk as a strategy. The whole point of the game is to play.In post 290, Albert B. Rampage wrote:
I agree...I think its fair that the other 3 head hydra, but cerb is as active as I am. In a 3 head hydra he wont have any downtime at all. If its someone like Toog that hydras, totally fine...but someone as active as cerb and drixx, thats like playing against an entire team, not one slot. I need a team to compete against a team.In post 277, dramonic wrote:Considering the players in those two 3 headed hydras, they need all the help they can get
So yeah ... you have a solid point here.
We don't actually schedule shifts, man. Like ... there's pretty clear periods of time where both of us are sleeping. If it's normal awake time for North America; however, one or both of us is probably refreshing pretty often and keeping up. When we hydra, it's always in a large and the posts always pile up quickly and we take notes and such because otherwise you just get overwhelmed super fast. I totally recommend that everyone note things that seem important or potentially important. Even just a notepad file with post numbers and a quick sentence is super helpful months later (3-4 day phases in this game) to keep you from having to slog through thousands of posts to find what you are looking for.In post 299, Albert B. Rampage wrote:If people with less time want to hydra, again, I'm fine with that. But I think a slot can become too dominant, with no blind spots, no time to catch them off guard, no way to slip a quicklynch past them, if its a bunch of highly active players who can cover for each other in shifts and organize schedules to have nearly 100% thread coverage.
That's probably the primary reason Cerb and I play as RR in games. We both take good notes and think similarly enough that we can be reasonably acceptable at the game, whereas individually I'm just really fucking terrible.
It's actually a super true thing that I didn't consult him first and just said that I was in and hopefully he would join me. I wasn't sure he would even say yes.In post 311, Albert B. Rampage wrote:
Of course you won't accept it. You don't want to give up what you have, which you're holding over all our heads while simultaneously acting like you're doing everyone a favor. In post 307, Cerberus v666 wrote:I'd rather not play then not hydra with Drixx. :/
I only signed up because he asked me to.
Actually; I'm the one who asked him if he thought it would be okay to ask if Bins could play with us. Bins is awesomesauce™ and I clearly need to learn different ways to play. You should totally blame me for the 3-headed hydra menace. It's totes completely my fault. No takes backs. In post 318, Albert B. Rampage wrote:The way he talks you would think he's mother Teresa. Out of the charity of his good soul, he has reached out to Bins from the heavens to join a game Bins otherwise was unable to play. Our savior.
Yeah, right. He's getting a massive leg up in the game.
Rational Rampage. That's scary. In post 327, Errantparabola wrote:LAST RESORT SOLUTION

IF MASTIN ISN'T GOING TO CHANGE THE RULES (WHICH PROBABLY WILL HAPPEN)
AND ALL PARTIES ARE OKAY WITH IT (WHICH PROBABLY WON'T HAPPEN)
CERB + DRIXX + ABR
ME + BINS
THOUGHTS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I personally think you're maybe overstating it a bit. Any hydra with Cerberus in it is basically going to be as active as Cerberus. I cannot even come close to matching his pace and endurance, and Bins specifically was wanting to play with us because it will help lessen the overwhelmed feeling of 5,000+ posts the first day phase. In post 328, Albert B. Rampage wrote:The place I'm coming from, is if he has a gun, well golly, I better start packing too or I'm toast. He sees injustice but he says nothing, because it favors him.
That said ... Cerb is a beast in terms of activity, and I'm not a slouch... and it's totally and absolutely reasonable for you to feel like there might be a mechanical advantage there (Even if I think you're playing it up a bit), so I'm totes cool if we have a 3x3 situation. I will kind of laugh if all three of the triple-hydrae end up on the same team though, especially if we all roll scum.

I think most of that is tongue in cheek. At least... the big post I just made replying to people was all firmly tongue in cheek (except the part about me being bad. I'm really bad.).In post 362, Luna Fox wrote:I feel like im very brave coming into a really gigantic large, with a ton of "hydra advantages" while going in solo myself and where players already want to lynch each other before the game even starts.
My advice (for whatever it is or isn't worth) is just to keep a notepad file for the game and just note a post number and what about the post struck you as possibly important. It will help you find things later in the game. (Even if you die early, the first day of this game is almost certainly going to have 5,000+ posts, and the first two days could approach 8,000 pretty easily, if prior games of this many players is any indication).
For our part (Cerberus, Drixx, Bins), we'll probably talk a lot more on slack and try and keep from adding too many posts to the game. If we need to say something, we will obviously ... but we can avoid fluff and spam posting.Get to know a Drixx - Recently Updated!-
