I think for this contrivedness matters more than meta
There's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.
You must not imagine that for beings like you and us there can be laughter. The low men laugh, and we envy them. But for us, the higher ones, there is no laughter, only an unending vigil, purely serious, stretching on into the night.
Agreed, meta is an indicator that in this instance it may be more or less likely contrived:
1. Why is he doing this here and never before? If he has a specific reason for doing so here as scum that's suspicious and a possible slip.
2. He always does that anyway so I'm probably reading too much into it, or do I have a reason to believe the list is contrived anyway because of the way it is presented, or the way he says he is using his alignment to come to certain conclusions I disagree with, or the tone of the list seems scummy etc...
In the second case the latter is more important but you should keep the former in mind especially if you generally behave the opposite way, otherwise you will likely fall into the: he is not playing how I subjectively (justified or not) believe to be optimal so he must be scum, fallacy.
this triggers me so much
This one game I read also zyf made charts of everyones read on everyone and he put had big green diagonal filled to represent everyone townreading themselves
which along with just being inherently painful, it being presented right beside actual information and taking up half the graphic pretty much defeated the purpose of the graph as a way to communicate information
My readlist template includes myself in it with a short blurb why cuz welll, its my pov. Like anything else, meta should be the prevailing tool; if this is unusual, it may be scummy; if the player always do it, you cannot stop them so dont lynch them just cuz of a habit/personal preference.

On the list of things this site needs to implement policy lynches for "Listing yourself as Town in your reads lists" is so far down the chart as to be effectively out of the discussion.
"I am a leaf on the wind ... watch how I soar!"
Pretty much Geriatric game restricted at this point ... unless there are players I REALLY want to play with.
There is no scum tell too too stupid that some idiot will never invoke it.
so remember the time that curiouskarmadog was scum and made up a tell that someone who says "to be honest" is more likely to be scum because it implies that they weren't being honest previously
and then how that actually caught on for a while
Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.
one time I made up some shit about a statistical study that showed you were more likely to get scum lynched if you used hashtags to push them, like #lynchaccountant, #accountantmisrepping, #throwingshade and so on rather than stating your points properly
at least one person took it seriously

Back when confirmations were normally done in-thread, at least one player claimed that you could figure out if someone was scum purely from the way they confirmed.
Given that many people used to type /confirm regardless of alignment, it's hard to see how that could work.

I have seen one person claim that those who confirmed earlier are mafia because mafia are excited to play.

Three years ago, maybe? Time blurs.
I feel like I've missed out on this vast opportunity to deliberately introduce bogus scumtells for the troll factor. Maybe it's not too late...?
those who have anime avatars are more likely to be scum
