Institute Weekly

Serial Crusher Found Dead

Much to the surprise of the rest of the Institute's inhabitants, Professor X (aka jeep) was the serial crusher. A diary was found consisting of his disturbing ideas to kill. He was more than likely corrupted by some evil force, but we'll never know because his throat was constricted by a thick metal pipe.
jeep, Professor X (Serial Killer), suffocated.

It is day, 3 to lynch.

Whoa! Professor X was the SK? I definatly wasn't expecting that! Oh well, at least we won't have to worry about the SK any more!

Yeah, kinda good going mafia but that's beside the point.

Going with a gut feeling, I'm going to
fos:MGIA
for laying low a la korais the whole of day one and killing off ID with nothing more than a 'I don't buy that defence"

Can you explain your below the radar act?

Now that we know that blackhawk has gone seriously evil or the roles, I wonder if it's time to mass role claim? Because with the pattern that's emerging, the pure ill logic of it all might help us catch scum.

Thoughts?

Certainly some roles here don't are what they seem to be with professor X a serial killer.
Also it seems that the special abilities are more based on the weaknesses of the characters than upon their strenghts. Cyclops who has but a random chance to block and nightcrawler with the ability that makes him look evil.
Anyway I can't see anyone in particular that obviously looks more suspicious than the rest of us, so I will hold my vote for now.
If there originally was a three player mafia group, we will have to be very careful with our votes, because one mistake can doom us all.

I really doubt that there would be three mafia (one of which could blow up two others)
and
and SK. Too far fetched if you ask me.
However, the two deaths on N1 are worrying - one by suffocation like JEEP was killed and the other crushed apparently by korais. How did JEEP kill? Could he fake alterior kill methods?

I'm almost convinced MGIA is mafia. But have no clues to be definite about.
It's either him or Scalebane but more MGIA, :|

I'm guessing it was jeep that made the crushing kills. And that the suffocations were by magneto, working with the sentinels. Perhaps the mafia consisted of magneto and one sentinel, plus the serial killer.

Well, no matter what we decide to do, we need to do it carefully.

And, Phoebus, laying low hasn't been my plan. I just couldn't think of what I could add to the discussion. I honestly didn't believe ID's claim. But I was wrong. It's not the first time I've been wrong, and it probably won't be the last.

If you want, I'll roleclaim for you. At this point in the game, I'd rather claim by request than by being forced to by votes.

I'll concede you seem to be clueless in most games and a townie in the end. Odds say you're due for a scum role but hey! it's not necessary. Meta gaming isn't too healthy I guess but while your behaviour is not *unusual*, I'd be keeping an eye on you where you play an X-men game without knowing the Sentinels.
Um..I'll admit I've encountered new ones on that site bloojay linked us to...but Sentinels?!
Maybe you should have done your homework or maybe you're just using that show of naivity to conceal something.

The point is: I don't think you're scum but I needed to rant somewhat and I got my eyes on you.
Just wanted to point out, I'm not that stupid on X-men, I just thought in the context of his roleclaim, cyclops would be able to blind people. that is all.

I just wanted to throw some things out there right now as there are 5 of us and who knows how many mafia left.

I am the cop-type, role name will be supplied upon request of anybody.

I unfortunately, do not have any information for the town.
I pinged mr. gnome-it-all last night, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't be the godfather type person. I wish I could be of more help.

how does your role work? as it is cop-type (p.s. should I claim?)

My role only gives me which side they are allied to. I am Storm and my role works in theory because I am a senior member of the team and each night I can use my experience to determine the side a person is allied to. That is the cause of my vote on jeep at the beginning of the day previous to this.

That roleclaim seems to follow the essence of the other roleclaims very good. After all it are not the special abilities but more the character itself that defines the powers. However this time it is not a weakness. I really think the mod has done a great job in making the roles and their abilities.

Night 1 Ipinged Coolbot and he came back as good.
Night 2 I pinged Jeep and he came back as evil.
Night 3 i pinged MGIA and he came back as good.

So either MGIA is innocent or he is the godfather type.

That certainly makes MGIA less suspicious. Even if there is a godfather type, MGIA doesn't have to be the godfather.

:P Well, I'll just say it would be a little difficult for me to be the godfather when my character isn't even a male :P

It's a generic term Gnomie. Are you claiming that ice girl then? Emma Frost? or Mystique?

ding ding... two points for Phoebus! As Emma Frost, Queen of the Hellfire Club, I am quite busy every other night and am immune to kills those nights. So I guess I would be classified as a commuter-type role.

well, MGIA is pretty much cleared in my mind. and I am almost sure we've still got two mafia types out there somewhere .... so that means 3 people who I am still suspicious of. What do people think is the best course of action here? mass rcs?

Well we should not expose our special abilities to the other players, the mafia will almost certainly make use of them, the next night. For that reason I would suggest to only make a claim for the name of the role and not for the special ability. This will prefent the mafia from killing the most defenceless character. However it is useful to see if there are any doubles in the character.
So I will claim that I am Iceman.

And I am not going to believe you at all. Why?

Well, a few things. We've only killed off one mafia this game. And the game is still going, so that really means that unless the mafia is stupid, then we
have
to lynch a mafia today or we lose. Who cares if the mafia know our abilties if we lose?

ANd on a side note, your willingness to only tell us your role name and not ability sounds like a perfect mafia cover. You coulodn't really come up with a good roleclaim ability for ice man. SO you just threw some crap logic out there and went with just the name.

So I will claim that you are mafia.

Yes we have to lynch a mafia today, that is true. (I at least assume that there was a three player mafia group.) That will mean not only that we have to lynch a mafia today, but also tomorrow. If however the mafia should fail to kill tonight we will end up in a better situation. If the mafia knows our abilities they will be able to kill the person who has the most information and is not immune to night killings. That would make the next day a more difficult day. (Though granted our chances to get a next day will decrease slightly.)
And, if I were mafia I could easily come up with a special ability. It honestly seems not too difficult to make up a night ability.
Anyway, I will not say my special ability unless the majority of those present want it to become public.

Well three makes a majority when there are five persons.

I function as a doc it seems. I can protect a person in a layer of ice. Though there seems to be a chance that it can fail and that it will function like a role blocker.

I really wanted to keep this secret because I would be able to protect someone. Though it is now propable that I will be killed the coming night, and I cannot protect myself.
