I think three sensible options are giuseppina, STD, and furtiveglance

Giuseppina pros: obvtown, very sensible
Giuseppina cons: probably won't confidently push us, might get suspicion later for not dying

STD pros: obvtown, probably keeps thinking you're scum here
STD cons: wasn't on TGP wagon and was on you instead? That might look pretty bad for you. But if they expected bussing then maybe this doesn't matter.

furtive pros: obvtown, unpredictable, could decide we're scum and then it's hard to change his mind
furtive cons: could also just be confidently wrong? Which is good for us. Might also not be quite as obvtown as the other two. They might decide his confidence yesterday was bussing in this setup.
