This game sort of had to be swingy.
The variance between having town active / scum passive in bonds vs town passive / scum active in bonds is massive.
On top of that scum were intentionally given some very strong investigative roles so it wouldn't be difficult to convince town to go passive if they somewhat townread you.

It's notable that scum did not have a roleblocker except potentially one mass roleblock besides for Yume's role: but even that was meant to be deceptive because it triggers at the middle of the night rather than end of night, which could easily be setup specced as being a normal role rather than an active role and start a goose chase.

I designed the game to make it as easy as possible for scum to get townread and dominate the night actions and quickly figure out which slots do what and make the correct nightkills and shut down town's night actions without actually giving them a lot of hard power. On the flipside, if scum are generally scumread on their play they're not going to be doing anything and that will make it very hard for them. The way the game played out, Shiqf died instantly, Dunnstral was leashed, Aelita wasn't allowed to use her ability, and EddieByte never went active. So I'm sure the endgame felt incredibly oppressive and it was considering Random/Alisae's role pms were intentionally written to get them to TR each other and Firebringer's note was meant to clear them both and bringing them both to endgame was horribly dangerous but I don't think that was due to game balance as much as it was due to scum failing the acid test of getting townread and never really having the chance to eliminate the masons.

Both breaking strategies were foreseen from the outset but given the gap between properly utilizing them and not using any of them I think it was perfectly fair to have town have several super powerful combinations if they trust all the pieces in the puzzle: and both were breakable. Alisae being shot disabled Random, Transcend has to be kept alive to cash in on Titus's checks or it has to rely on a scum reporting the results. There was also one other profoundly powerful breaking strategy but it was based off of correct interpretation of Firebringer's results which were intentionally impossible to decipher at a level that you would plan around that.

And yeah, as far as bonds were concerned, Eddiebyte has my sympathy, Dunn got hard-leashed, shiqf was bussed and Aelita was passive except for the 1 night where she did what Titus told her to. Scum pretty much had no night actions they really owned.

I think Dunn would have gotten lynched if I hadn't leashed him. So I think that helped. Just why not shoot me? It frees Dunn?
