Whenever someone halls me "beautiful" I know its a lie. Petty, sure. Hot? OK. But "beautiful" is them just trying to suck up. But at least they are being nice!

OTOH, saying "downright unattractive" is ALSO a lie. Plain? Maybe. Evil? Sure. But "unattractive" is just them trying to insult me!

Obviously, one is insulting. The other is nice!

I find unappreciated beauty much more attractive. It's like my own secret or something. I'd be much more likely to tell someone they're beautiful that isn't used to hearing it than someone that is. Of course I'm not allowed to tell anyone but my wife she's beautiful anymore.
