It makes no sense for any townie to say that.
Also, by posting this, it makes every player scared of hammering you in case you're town, because it would make that player suspicious as it's now assumed that scum will hammer.
These two reasons make your post suspicious.

At this point, hammering isn't a good idea, and if people are scared of hammering at this stage, well, good.
