mini 814: OVER!

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:51 am

Post by mykonian »

dear friends from MS.

I have invited you for this game, as I know you are the best of the best in mafia games. But forum play is such a different game, from real life. One could never try to read peoples faces on a forum, see how they act under pressure. Never you can talk to the person next to you, without the rest hearing.

thats why I invited you, to make you play a normal mafia game, at my home. I take care of the food and the drinks, I will act as your mod, and you will sit in one big circle, playing this awesome game.

the circle, votecount

KittyMo
replaces MonkeyMan576

(0):

(Stolen and modified from Kloud)

Behavior:
1) This is a game. Please try to act in a respectful manner towards everyone.
2) Play to win, but also to have fun. See rule 1.
3) I will post in
blue
, so don’t use it.
4) Do not quote any private communications with me or other players. Failure to adhere to this rule will result in modkill. If you have a question about whether something is acceptable, PM me.
5) You may not talk about this game outside the thread unless your role allows, whether you’re dead or not.

Activity Levels and Prods:
6) I expect everyone to be active.
7) Players may request a prod on another player at any time, by posting in thread by asking me in bold.
8) Not picking up a prod within 72 hours will result in replacement.

Voting, Lynches, and Deadlines:
9) Please vote in bold, such as
vote: mykonian.
When changing votes, you must unvote. Not doing so will result in me an "accidental" failure on my part of acknowledging the repeal and/or change of the vote.
10) A lynch will require the votes of a majority of players. When a majority is reached, no further votes/unvotes will be counted.
11) You may Vote: No Lynch to decide to not lynch someone on a given day. No-lynching requires 50% or more of the votes, thus on days with an even number of players it will take one less vote to No Lynch than to lynch.
12) Each day will have an automatic deadline of 3*(number of players) days limited to the range of 35 to 14 days. I may extend it in very special circumstances.
13) If a majority is not reached by deadline, the person with the highest number of votes as long as it is more than one will be lynched. In the case of a tie, the first person to reach that number of votes will be lynched. The person who would be lynched if deadline were to reach with no changes will be indicated in votecounts with red font.
14) Posting in twilight is acceptable, for both the lynchee and town members.
15) Once your death scene is posted, you are dead. So no "bah" posts.

Miscellaneous:
16) If you fake breaking a rule, it will incur the same punishment as actually breaking the rule.
17) If you believe I have made a small mistake, for example, in a vote count, please point it out in thread. If you have a more serious grievance for some reason, PM me. Leave it out of the thread.
18) My word is final. If you have a problem with it, see rule 19.
19) This ruleset may be incomplete. If you spot an obvious loophole, don't be a jerk - PM me and point it out. If the Mod discovers an oversight, or feels a player is doing something that, while technically within the rules, is against the spirit of the game, the Mod may add to these rules and inform/warn the players affected as appropriate.

Game specific:

20) You can daytalk to your "neighbours", as if you were sitting in a circle. No nighttalking, no daytalking to a person that is not next to you (not even if he is your scumbuddy)
21) only scum can nighttalk.
22) Don't quote pm's. From anyone, mod or player.

you can start playing now, no need for confirming.

clarification: the circle above shows the order in which people sit, and can talk to the person next to them. If someone is killed, the circle gets a gap, and some people can no longer talk to two persons. Imagine the chair next to you is empty :)

Why are you unsure?

To anyone who feels like answering:

What is your opinions on the random voting stage?

Why did you pick this game in particular?

Who do you expect to be the first person to be lynched this game, and why?

Who do you want to be lynched first this game, and why?

Thank you for your time.

What is your opinions on the random voting stage?
Well it seems like the norm here, though your aproach of asking questions is good for generating discussion as well.
Why did you pick this game in particular?
I didn't. Signed up for the next open mini-themed mafia. I like the concept of this mafia though.
Who do you expect to be the first person to be lynched this game, and why?
I don't know. Hopefully not me. Was lynched on the first day in the last mafia (as Town).
Who do you want to be lynched first this game, and why?
Nobody in particular yet.

Thank you for your time.
Random voting is fine, and generally helps facilitate discussion.

I just wanted to do the next mini theme game since I was out of another game...

I try to keep an open mind on who will be lynched, and don't have any desire to see anyone lynched unless they are scummy, and it's too early in the game to label anyone as scummy yet.

RVS can be helpful but can also be unhelpful, all depending on the game. I think you asking questions like these will help break RVS earlier rather than later.
DOESnotWANT wrote:Why did you pick this game in particular?
I've never done this type of game and it sounded pretty cool.

DOESnotWANT wrote:Who do you expect to be the first person to be lynched this game, and why?
Way too early to tell.

Thank you for your time.
1. I wasn't I just generally think about confirming before doing a RV, which didn't happen.
2. It's good.
3. A random choice, and Droid just happened to be passing by in the game :p.
4. Droid.
5. Because I will[/sarcasm] :p. But as everyone's said it's too early.

Atleast you didn't ask this in the middle of day 1, like Santos did...

1. I have no real opinion on the random voting stage. It's as good as any way to get a game started, I guess.

2. I like the idea behind it, the talking to people "next to you". It seems very intriguing and I can wait to see how the whispering plays out.

3. I don't know, I'm hoping it won't be me, as I tend to be an early lynch when playing town.

4. I don't have any opinions on any of the players at this particular moment.

It's a fine enough starting point, though it can drag on for too long. More importantly, it can be a rather valuable resource for the town once some roles are revealed through death (it can be especially useful to deduce connections between mafia).
DOESnotWANT wrote:Why did you pick this game in particular?
I used to play mafia on forums where everyone could talk to everyone at any time by any means (including PMs, IRC etc). It seemed like a nice bit of semi-nostalgia.
DOESnotWANT wrote:Who do you expect to be the first person to be lynched this game, and why?

Who do you want to be lynched first this game, and why?
Too early to say in both cases. No real reads at this point.

What is your opinions on the random voting stage?

- I feel it's just filler in a game. Talk to break down barriers, needless words until someone slips up and we all remove our votes and get serious. I feel someone issuing a list of questions like you have helps a lot, and I'm glad that I'm not the one to have to do it this time. :)
Why did you pick this game in particular?

- Well, this is my first game out of the Newbie Queue (Yay!) and I felt like I wanted a game where it wouldn't be too overwhelming with the changing of rules and number of people playing, so this game was perfect.
Who do you expect to be the first person to be lynched this game, and why?

- Well, it would be dumb to bet on it so early in the game, when we're still throwing 'I hate u!' votes. :P. Though if you're wanting me to guess at this point, I would honestly have to say me. ( :( ). People just seem to not appreciate the value of a healthy plate of yummy Spinach!
Who do you want to be lynched first this game, and why?

- As said above, it would be silly to have actual accusations at this point in time. Though I do hate monkeys, so if you
really
want me to state a person now, it would have to be him.

Spinach's hatred of monkey's is really unfortunate. It's my childhood nickname, my son's nickname, and my son's favorite stuffed animal is a sock monkey!

I have an idea...we could play "Two Truths And A Lie"...nice icebreaker game...people post three statements, two of which are true, and one of which is false, and people try to guess which is the false one. For example...

I've played in the marching band of a Rose Bowl game.

I'm a Taurus.

I have two middle names.
